MAY 18, 1955 – “Unable to obtain a playing surface, Bishop Bradley officials yesterday postponed its scheduled baseball contest with Nashua High. The tilt has been slated for tomorrow afternoon at Manchester’s Athletic field for a 3:30 p.m. start.

“Furthermore, the Nashuans are scheduled to spend the remainder of the weekend in Manchester. Saturday afternoon Buzz Harvey’s charges invade the Queen City again to tackle the Blue Knights of Manchester West for a 2 p.m. encounter. And Sunday the local diamondeers pack their togs for another invasion of Manchester, this time to meet its arch-rival, Manchester Central.”

MAY 18, 1965 – “The Manchester School Committee last night approved the applications of Nashua’s Bob Jauron and Bill hall and subsequently named them as football coaches at Memorial High and Manchester Central respectively.

“The move brought to three the total of Nashua men now coaching schoolboy football teams in the Queen City. Eddie Kissell, a member of the famous Nashua football family, is coaching at Bishop Bradley.”

MAY 18, 1990 – “Don’t expect a budding Plymouth State College in the making athletically when Rivier College goes co-ed a year from this fall.

” ‘I really don’t know what direction the school is going to go,’ Rivier athletic director Joanne Merrill said. “To be quite honest, I really can’t tell you anything.’

“Rivier currently has three women’s varsity teams: volleyball in the fall, basketball in the winter and softball in the spring. All are popular, and students expressed concern that they would be limited with men coming on campus. Merrill has assured that won’t happen.

“That’s one direction we definitely wouldn’t go,’ he said.”

MAY 18, 2019 – “Grady Hudson blasted a three-run home run, to give the Broncos (6-10) a 7-5 advantage and eventual 9-5 win. Alvirne’s comeback win started with a two-out rally in the sixth scoring five runs. Jake Hobart had two hits and an RBI. Evan Beals had two hits and Kyle Boulanger added a two-run single in the sixth to add to the lead.

“Tyler Lizotte picked up the win giving up no hits in 1-1/3 innings of relief.”
