We have Shanahan, the hoarder; J-Lo, the TB12 devotee …

By Hector Longo - Staff Writer | Feb 4, 2020

Some stray thoughts from the world of sports as I ponder if someone has told Kyle Shanahan the bad news – the two timeouts he took to the locker room with him at halftime of the Super Bowl are now gone for good. He is never getting them back.

That man, along with being a pathetic in-game coach, is apparently a hoarder, too. …

While on the Super Bowl, sort of. If Jennifer Lopez, age 50, is on the TB12 program, I have two thoughts:

1. Tom Brady might be able to play into his 50s.

2. Brady is going to be a billionaire before we know it.

Did you catch J-Lo at halftime on Sunday? That was flat-out amazing.

She’s 50! This 50-something has trouble with the strain of jumping to conclusions, let alone bounce around on stage non-stop for 10 minutes. Brady’s business manager has to be thinking about a Miami franchise with J-Lo on the marquee. …

I am not a Mahomes/KC/NFL needs them conspiracy theorist. But the Super Bowl severely challenges me to not be. Every 50-50 call went the Chiefs way, starting with that bogus pass interference call on George Kittle, followed by several cheap/dirty hits on Jimmy Garoppolo and ultimately ending with the bag job game MVP vote.

Mahomes no way deserved it. His teammate Damien Williams did. But Williams is not the face of the NFL. Mahomes is, and he is expected to be for the next decade. …

By the way, I see Mahomes play football and two words pop into my head.

Derek. Jeter.

He’s got that kind of big-game play-making ability, that same presence, and he’s got guts. It says here that if Mahomes walked away from football now and signed a pro baseball deal, he’d be a big league middle infielder by the age of 26. …

Dear Danny Ainge, even I wouldn’t trade Marcus (The Mason) Smart for Houston’s Clint Capela.

Another viable big man without attitude? Read here, a Derrick Favors type? Sign me up. But Capela? Move along, nothing to see there. …

With the King of Nashua smothering the local hockey beat as well as he does, this hoop guy rarely finds himself in the rink. With that said, took in a game last week at Conway Arena. Let me just say, for a high school rink, they got that place right. It’s bright and comfortable for the fan. Not the proverbial icebox. Very friendly place to watch a game. I’m impressed. Someone over there knows what they are doing. …

Finally, this weekend’s NHIAA Indoor Track Championship Sunday serves as an annual reminder that some more centrally located city, town, college or wealthy fan of children needs to step up and build a state-of-the-art track facility in the middle of the Granite State.

Going to UNH would be painful for the folks in the western part of the state. Sunday’s drive up I-89 to Dartmouth is a struggle for everyone else.

That said, can anyone give me a decent lunch option for food on or near the Dartmouth campus? I need something between the D-II and D-I meets on Sunday. Drop me an email.
