NASHUA – The Nashua Cal Ripken 11U All-Stars are heading to New Canaan, Conn. this weekend for the New England Regionals.

Nashua, the District B champion, was the runnerup to Dover in the recently held state tournament, in which the top two spots qualify for regional play. Their first game will be vs. host New Canaan at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

Players on the roster include Cole Dube, Gavin Whigham, Garrett Schmidt, Dom Maffei, Gates Kelly, Justin Sanossian, Romeo Dominguez, Mason Townsend, Aaron Ackerman, Ben Sterner, Mike Hammond and Nik Levine.

The team, however, needs some help in covering trip costs and a special fund for donations has been set up at gofundme.com

Besides Nashua and New Canaan, the others in the eight team affair are Dover, Lowell(Mass.), Hudson (Mass.), Marlborough (Mass.), West Hartford (Conn.), and Easton/Redding (Conn.).

Events start this Friday with a players lunch at noon, followed by a Parade of Teams at 2 p.m.. There will also be a skills competition Friday at 3 p.m. that includes a home run derby, fielding and a speed competition.
