Nashua, Merrimack wrestlers shine

The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Nashua’s K-8 wrestling team and the Merrimack Youth Association wrestling program competed in the NHWAY State Championship Tournament at Bow and Keene High Schools, where the Nashua wrestlers were the top scoring program in overall points, winning the Club State Championship as a team.

Earning state titles in their individual weight classes included Roy McHenry, Cayden Raye, Walter Cotito-Dolloff, Kam Lewis, Sawyer Jones, Colton Richard, Victor Lomme, Jace Gallego, and Eli Gagnon.

It was a second time winning the state title for McHenry, Cotito-Dolloff, Lewis, and Lomme, while Gagnon earned his third state championship victory.

Earning silver medals were Carter Queenan, Jamison Dohaney, Jordan Perez, and Davis Johnson. Third place winners were Anthony Errico, Jaribella Lewis, Gabriel Silva, Wesley Blanchard, and Jaxson Santiago.

Also picking up key wins for the Pride: Adam Collier, Ryker Ducharme, Thomas Avery, Declan Lambert, Brody Byrne, Jason Tilton, Justin Tilton, Noah Sanchez, Harris Johnson, Levi Dabney, Keaton Gora, Cam Warshafsky, John Signor, Robert Signor, Craig Burge, Caleb Paquin, Brady Wessel, Kayden Vallerand-Kennealy, Orry Carr, Owen Seagle, Dawson Bolton, Noah Smith, Cole Warshafsky, and Ryan Ostrowski.

Meanwhile, Merrimack came away with five individual five champ titles and six qualifiers for the New England Championships out of the fifteen wrestlers that competed

Eighth grader Jackson Meehan capped off his youth career pinning his way to first place on the podium while seventh grader Rhys Dewar secured his seventh straight state title with two wins by pin and one by points on the day.

Second grader Duke Torres and Daxton Solivan had four and two wins by pin respectively with Torres pinning his way to first place on the podium.

Fourth graders Colton Miller and Madeline Sousa battled in their respective brackets. Miller secured one win by pin while Sousa won two by points and one by pin to secure the champion title.

Sixth graders Leland Eaton and Chase Regal represented well with Regal securing one win by points while Eaton took home first place medal with two wins by pin.

Bennett Meehan, Leiland Miller and Matthew Snavely represented the third grade cohort. Meehan had two wins on the day taking home third place.

Sara Snavely and Cash Torres, grade 5, showed up with Torres winning one match by pin and one by points to take home second place medal.

Kindergartners Clayton Bailey and Zachary Zupkosky each brought home third place medals on the day.
