Merrimack wrestlers score in novice event

The Merrimack Youth Wrestling Program competed in the NHWAY Novice Tournament recently held at Merrimack Middle School.

The tournament was designed to give new wrestlers an opportunity to compete and all wrestlers were awarded medals. Thirty three wrestlers from the MYA competed.

Kindergartners Clayton Bailey and Joseph Beaulieu took home second and third place respectively each with one win on the day.

Weston Caldwell, Jameson Phillips and Thomas Whelen represented the first grade cohort, taking third, fourth and fifth places.

Merrimack’s second grade group included Brooks Bernard, Nathan Horn, Daxton Solivan, Andrew Sousa, Emma Townsend and Kaleb Watt. Solivan and Sousa secured two wins by pin while Watt took one win by pin.

Carter Barkley, Leiland Miller, Tucker Monte, Matthew Snavely and Dominic Yakuboff represented the MYA third grade cohort. Miller, Snavely and Yakuboff each won two of their matches while Monte took home one win by points.

Merrimack’s fourth grade representation included Grayson Chestnut, Sylas Hill, Colton Miller, Brady Peeler and Madeline Sousa. Miller swept his bracket pinning two of his opponents and winning his final round with points taking home first place. Sousa secured one win by pin and one by points to take second place medal.

Merrimack’s fifth grade group proved quite successful and included Hunter Beitel, Luke Egan, Caleb Grandmaison, Aundra Kovacs, Maximus Pulaski and Sara Snavely.

Egan and Beitel blew through their brackets winning all of their matches through to first place. Grandmaison secured two wins by pin for second place. Kovacs, Pulaski and Snavely each had one win on the day.

Sixth graders Lelan Eaton, Chase Regal and Owen Sayball represented MYA’s sixth grade group. Sayball secured one win by pin taking home first place medal with Regal taking home one win on the day by points.

Luke Emond, grade 7 completed his day with second place. Eighth graders Christian Chestnut and John Regal took home first and second place with Chestnut pinning his way to the top while Regal secured one win by pin on the day.
