Kids Sports for Sept. 6

Here are recent results from the Nashua Cal Ripken baseball league:

AAA

DIAMONDBACKS 8

PIRATES 8

The Pirates were led by strong pitching from Dom Maffei and Will Stanley, backed by five runs in the fourth inning. The D-Backs offense was powered by Luke Graven, Miles Demers and Gates Kelly, each with two hits. Defensively, there was strong fielding from Hunter Sullivan (Pirates) and Gabe Gotham (D-Backs).

ROCKIES 14

NATIONALS 0

Isaiah Hidalgo, Mitchell Martin and Zach Henderson combined to pitch efficient innings for the Nationals, who also got a great game Isaiah Pimental (run scored).

Marcus Conti and Will Osborn combined to pitch four solid innings for the Rockies and Leo Desfosses had a three-RBI hit.

PIRATES 13

A’s 8

Owen Torosian singled, walked twice, and scored a run for the Pirates while Dom Maffei had three walks, drove in several runs and scored three times.

Will Stanley singled twice, scored two runs and was lights out on the mound. Hunter Sullivan walked three times, scored three times and stole two bases.

TIGERS 4

Andrew Butler pitched three strong innings for the Tigers while Sam Nardone led the Pirates offense with a single, two walks and three runs. The Bucs’ Stanley added 2 2/3 scoreless innings while striking out seven.

Karthik Ramesh chipped in with a hard single, a walk, a steal, a hit by pitch and a run scored.

DIAMONDBACKS 13

ANGELS 3

Everyone was hitting for the Diamondbacks as Curtis Sullivan went 3 for 3, Niko Stefiuk had a huge two-run triple and Jaxson Rogers reached base twice and also had an RBI.

Garrett Schmidt and Lennon Willett pitched well for the Angels and Jake Hamernik and Cam Warshafsky each reached base twice.

MAJORS

PHILLIES 17

ROYALS 16

The Phillies won on a walkoff two-run hit by Will McKenney after Cooper Vaillancourt pitched a scoreless inning in relief. The Phils also had three runs scored from Zion Campbell, Jack Razzaboni, and Charlie Patterson.

The Royals were paced by three hits and three runs scored from Andrew and Dan Byrne.

RED SOX 9

GIANTS 2

The Red Sox opened up a tight game with a five-run sixth. Michael Witkowski threw five innings giving up one run with seven strikeouts to lead the Sox.

Also, Sam Levine went 2 for 3 with two runs while Ian Blake and Sam Woodward added RBI singles.

Jordan Delude had an RBI double for the Giants.

RED SOX 9

ROYALS 0

Jacoby Caissie and A.J. Holmes combined for a one-hit shutout with a combined 11 strikeouts.

Levine added two hits and three RBIs, while Joyal added two hits and two RBIs.

Blake and Witkowski also added RBIs for the Sox.
