Kids Sports for August 2

Here’s the latest results from the Merrimack Valley Prospects baseball program, which includes several locals at the youth level:

10U PROSPECTS 11

GRANITE STATE THUNDER 8

The Prospects plate four in the first after a bases-loaded double from Jordyn Rodriguez (2 for 3, four RBIs, one run). The Prospects would get four more in the third and three in the fourh.

Additional offense came from Matthew Howie (3 for 4, two runs), Ryan Caruso (1 for 2, RBI, one run), Jordan Morelli (1 for 1, RBI, two runs), Will McKenney (1 for 2, two RBIs, one run) and Jace Dillon (2 for 2, RBI). Max Demers (6K) kept Thunder bats quiet early, before handing the ball off to Morelli to stop a late game rally from the Thunder.

10U PROSPECTS 10

GRANITE STATE THUNDER 2

Backed by a clean performance by the Prospects defense, Connor Gryniewicz and Jace Dillon held the Thunder to two runs on four hits to claim the victory. Prospects knocked the ball around the park scoring 10 runs on eight hits.

Max Demers (3 for 4, three runs), Matthew Bergin (2 for 3, two RBIs,, two runs) and Jordan Morelli (2 for 4, three RBIs) led the offense for the Prospects. The Prospects improve to 10-2 on the season and will face the Concord Cannons to close the regular season.

15U PROSPECTS 6

16U GRANITE STATE GIANTS 5

Trailing 5-2 in the seventh inning with two outs, the Prospects score on an error to make it 5-3. Back to back singles by Cam Brown (RBI single, 4 for 4 ) and Dean Adams along with a Nick Shaw hit by pitch set the stage for a two-run single by Kenny Reel to give the Prospects the lead. Elias Bourque wrapped up a complete game in the seventh to lock down the win with five strikeouts and no earned runs.

15U PROSPECTS 4

16U GRANITE ST GIANTS 1

Dean Adams drove in all four runs including a bases loaded double in the bottom of the sixth to break a 1-1 tie plating three runs. Devin Sawyer, Cam Brown (6 for 7 on the day with five singles and a double), Dante Nieto, and Kenny Reel chipped in hits as well. Adams also reached base six out of seven times on the day with three hits, two walks and a hit-by-pitch.

There was another great pitching performance by Colin Toohey throwing a complete game, striking out three while only giving up one earned run.

Tryout schedules in Nashua are as follows:

9U and 10U – August 10, 6 p.m. at Lajoie Field.

11U and 12U – August 8, 4 p.m.at Dube Field.

13U and 14U – August 11, 6 p.m. at Ledge St. Field; August 15, 4 p.m. at Ledge St. Field.
