The Merrimack Valley Prospects baseball program, that has local teams at several levels, continued its season in the past two weeks with several good results:

NH PROSPECTS 4,

15U MV PROSPECTS 2

Nick Shaw did a great job to keep NH off balance all game long while Cam Brown and Kenny Reel pitched out of big jams late in the game. Brown, Reel, and Hunter Ward provided the offense.

NH PROSPECTS 1

Colin Toohey pitched an absolute gem, going seven innings holding NHP to one run while striking out four. Elias Bourque shut the door in the eighth to preserve the tie.

Shaw had two hits and the lone RBI while Cam Brown and Ward provided help to the offense.

Defensive, there was a key double play involving Hunter Ward as well as a Toohey – Dean Adams- Brown double play to help end a late threat. Plus there was great outfield play from Kenny Reel, Dante Nieto, and Shaw along with two huge caught stealings by Sam Murray behind the plate.

10U MV PROSPECTS 10,

NE CHARGE 1

Prospects bats exploded 11 hits in a game shortened victory. Matthew Howie (3-3, RBI, two runs) and Connor Gryniewicz (3 for 3, double, two RBIs, two runs) led the way with multi-hit games also coming from Jace Dillon (2 for 2, one run) and Brayden Ouellet (2 for 2, two RBIs, two runs).

Will McKenney joined the hit parade with a two-run double in the third. On the mound, Max Demers (five strikeouts) and Jordan Morelli (three strikeouts) held the Charge to one run on two hits over five innings.

10U MV PROSPECTS 2,

NE CHARGE 1

The Prospects bats came out strong, but the Charge played solid defense with a total of 15 defensive putouts.

Connor Gryniewicz (seven strikeouts) and Jace Dillon (three strikeouts) kept the Charge bats cool allowing just one run on three hits.

The Charge would score first with Gio Pirrotta scoring Memphis Beech on an RBI single in the bottom of the first inning. Prospects would respond in the second with Jordan Morelli (2 for 2, double, two runs) scoring on an unusual play.

The Prospects would take the lead in the fourth with an RBI single from Ryan Caruso scoring Morelli. With heads up defense, the Prospects would close the game for the win to improve to 5-1 on the season.

9U MV PROSPECTS 6-8,

BOBCATS 4-7

Elias Gonzalez, Sam Fondiakowski, and Ben Sterner hit the ball hard all day as the Prospects continued their strong 5-0-1 start. William Ricci and Wes Steinruck contributed critical stolen bases and runs on the basepaths. Braden Maier, Tyler Hartson, Ben Sterner, Sam Fondiakowski and Zach Henderson all pitched meaningful innings.

CONCORD CANNONS 3,

11U MV PROSPECTS 2

The Cannons scored two in the top of the sixth while. Brooke Berger pitched a complete game.

Harrison Joshi had a two-run double for the Prospects while infielders Johnny Graven and Nolan Sullivan played well and right fielder Cooper Vaillancourt gunned out a runner at first.

CONCORD CANNONS 7

11U MV PROSPECTS 4

The Prospects had the bases loaded and one out in the last inning and just could not convert. Nolan Sullivan went 5.2 strong innings on the mound but was the victim of some costly errors.

However, MV’s Owen Varley cut a runner down at the plate from right field and Brooke Berger was solid at shortstop. The big hit on offense was a solo, career first home run to center by Owen Forcier.

10U PROSPECTS 1

MV COMMODORES 0

(7 Innings)

The 10U Prospects traveled to Manchester and handed the MV Commodores their first loss as a team in two years, nearly 40 games, on Matthew Howie’s RBI double.

Max Demers (2-0) pitched a complete game, three-hit shutout, striking out 10. He outdueled Commodores hurler Mason Ellison.

Ryan Caruso (1-3) singled in the top of the seventh and was replaced by courtesy runner Marcus Conti, who scored the game-winner.

MV COMMODORES 6,

10U MV PROSPECTS 3

The Prospects jumped to an early 2-1 lead in the second inning with singles from Caruso (2 for 3, run and Howie (2 for 3, one run). Starting pitcher Connor Gryniewicz threw four innings, striking out two while allowing five hits. However, Prospects’ defensive miscues led to three unearned runs through the first four innings and gave the Commodores an opportunity to take control of the game.

The Prospects (3-1, eight left on) were only able to add one more run on a Gryniewicz sacrifice.

12U PROSPECTS ROYAL 15-3

GRANITE STATE

THUNDER 1-2

Brody Smith and Paul Gehan played well in the first game of the sweep, while in the nightcap Ryan Martin and Joe Mayo really set the tone on the mound.

Zach Retey and Ryan Mainey also pitched well.
