Prospects season underway

The Merrimack Valley Prospects 9U and 10U baseball teams, filled with local players, have begun play this summer in the newly formed Elite Baseball League. Here’s a look at their recent games:

9U MV PROSPECTS 11,

NH CRUSH 1

The Prospects team got off to a great start in their season opener at Nashua’s Lajoie Field, getting five runs in the first. Jeremiah Ngari, Carter Glines, Sam Fondakowski and Elias Gonzalez all posted hits in the first inning.

Braden Maier set the tone on the mound with four innings pitched, 14 batters faced, eight strikeouts, one walk, one run on one hit.

Ngari and Dylan Gilmartin each pitched an inning to close out the game.

MV PROSPECTS 9U 11,

NH PROSPECTS 4

Merrimack Valley rallied from an early 2-0 deficit as both pitching (Ngari) and the offense Tyler Hartson (1 for 2, one RBI), Elias Gonzalez (2 for 2, triple and three RBIs), Braden Maier (3 for 3, three doubles and Carter Glines (1 for 3, double) took control. Again, the Prospects gave up no errors in the field en route to a 11-4 victory. They look to continue their winning ways in Londonderry this Sunday.

MV 10U PROSPECTS 2,

LONDONDERRY 0

In their season opener the older Prospects got a combined no-hit, 15 strikeout effort by Connor Gryniewicz and Jordan Morelli. The Prospects struck early with Gryniewicz (2 for 3, one run) singling and scoring on a passed ball in the first. They added another run in the third with a RBI double from Matthew Bergin.

MV 10U PROSPECTS 9,

NH PROSPECTS 0

Max Demers had a strong mound performance (four innings, six strikeouts, no walks).

Bergin (2 for 3, three runs, three RBIs led the charge with a bases-loaded triple.

Additional offense came from Demers (2 for 3, two runs), Connor Gryniewicz (1 for 3, one run, two RBIs), Ryan Caruso (1 for 2, run, RBI) and Will McKenney (1 for 1, two runs).

BULLETIN BOARD

CAL RIPKEN REGISTRATION

Registration is ongoing for Nashua Cal Ripken baseball, which plans on having a season at all levels beginning in early August through early October.

Tryouts for AAA and Majors will be July 11. Teams for Minors, Rookie and T-Ball levels will be formed in mid-July.
