Nashua PAL 10U wins playoff

Connor Johnston and Kobe Perry had two touchdowns while Adiran Cruz, Jedwin Lluveres and Jake Homsy had a TD apiece in a 47-13 win over the Junior Wildcats.

Cruz , Aden Pimentel, Johnston, and Ryme O’Brien each had extra points while key tackles were made on defense by Alex Sebastian, Jack Krulikowski, Asiah Bugg, Dylan Noble , Noah Smith, Kaleb Letendre, Kobe Perry, Jedwin Lluveres, and O’Brien..

On offense, Avian Garcia, Ben Spicer, and Nick Wilkinson all blocked well.

Nashua 8U falls to Jr. Wildcats

The first half in the season finale featured early tackles made by Bentley Christman, Gustavo Baldon, Anthony Samaral, Edward Gonzalez, Davin Routier, and Alex O’Brien. There was also a standout interception made by Jacob Smith.

The offense in the first half featured runs by QB Drew Homsy, Anthony Samaral, Bentley Christman, Yandel Velazquez, and Davin Routier. We also saw notable blocks by Liam Ferris and Jackson Harris. Still, the Junior Wildcats scored twice in the first half.

In the second half, Nashua had good runs by Samaral and Jacob Smith, and a large gain by Isiah Pimentel.

Later, Homsy threw a huge block

for Bentley Christman for Nashua’s only TD of the game.

Another PAL offensive standout was Davin Routier. The Force defense played well in the second half led by

Liam Rol, Christman andO’Brien.

Nashua PAL 9U 18,

Nashua Elks 12

The PAL Force, with the Elks driving to the 12 in a tie game, incredibly pulled out the win on a Deion Sisay strip, scoop and score, with some help from the blocking of Owen Gagnon. It was Sisay’s third TD of the game.

The Elks opened the scoring despite the defensive play of Nick Acevedo, Josiah Spleen, and Dharyus Sisay, the latter who prevented the extra point.

PAL was held scoreless in the half despite big runs by Dharyus Sisay, Josiah Spleen and Tyson Hoang, and great blocking from Owen Gagnon, David Lago. Defensively, PAL had key tackles by Brian Pouliot Jr., and Dominic Fantozzi.

The Force came back in the third quarter to tie the game at 6 with a touchdown by Deiondre Sisay. The Elks scored again despite the defensive play of David Lago, Kayden Geddes, Owen Gagnon, Paul O’Brien.

Deiondre Sisay’s TD tied the game at 12 with just a few minutes to go.

BASKETBALL

Elks Hoop Shoot Dec. 1

All area youth groups such as CYO, Biddy Basketball, church groups, etc. as well any other interested area boys and girls between the ages of 8 and 13 are eligible to participate in the 47th Annual Greater Nashua Elks’ “Hoop Shoot” Free Throw contest on Saturday Dec. 1 in the Elm Street Middle School Gymnasium on Chestnut Street, starting at 8 a.m.

There is no charge to participate in the Elks Hoop Shoot Free Throw Program.

The competiton is open to interested youths from the Hudson, Litchfield, Nashua, Hollis, Brookline, Amherst, Milford, Wilton and Merrimack.

A youth’s age on April 1, 2019 will determine his or hers appropriate age division.There will be six divisions, three each for boys and girls: 8-9, 10-11, and 12-13.

Trophies will be presented to the top three in each division. Contestants will shoot five warmups before shooting 25 free throws for score, and must wear basketball or tennis shoes to compete.

T-shirts, slacks or pants may be worn but basketball uniforms are preferred, but not necessary.

As each age category is completed, contestants may leave. The entire contest usually lasts about two hours, enabling any youths to make any scheduled league games elsewhere. The competition goes from local, to district, to state, to regional, and then to the national level. National winners will have their names inscribed in the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield.

The Nashua Elks have sent 11 to the Elks National Hoop Shoot Finals: Steve Piwowarski, Missy Ayotte, Debra Killmon, Ellen Tipping, Ryan Robinson, Ryan Sullivan , Michael Panagoulias, Caleb Donnelly, Max Coleman, Tom O’Hearn of Hudson and Tilak Patel of Nashua

Elks Youth Chairman Al Savage (888-0064) is in charge of the local contest. Area winners will compete in the State Elks Southern New Hampshire District Free Throw contest in Keene on Saturday, January 5.

CROSS COUNTRY

New Searles, Bicentennial win

In the recent 23rd annual Nashua Police Athletic League Elementary School Cross Country championships at Nashua High School North, the New Searles girls took the Deb Fraser Cup edging out Birch Hill by a single point and St. Christopher, while the Bicentennial boys claimed the Mark Fraser Cup ahead of St. Christopher and Main Dunstable School.

Race distances were 2K for 2nd and 3rd graders, while older elementary school runners ran 3K. The top five finishers in each race were:

Girls 2K – Carly Benzekri (Bicentennial), Auden King (Bicentennial), Penelope Lynn (New Searles),Shannon Forsyth (St. Christopher), Abby Azevedo (Charlotte Avenue).

Boys 2K – Jack Savino (St. Christopher), Brendan Butler (Broad Street), Andrew Butler (Broad Street),Max Signoroni (Bicentennial), Michael Kelly (New Searles).

Girls 3K – Caitrin Duprey (Microsociety Academy),Nina Somorrostro (New Searles), Brook Wilkinson (Birch Hill), Pearl Nelson (New Searles), Molly Reardon (Saint Christopher).

Boys 3K – Josef Signoroni (Bicentennial), Gavin Suchecki (Broad Street), Joshua Tripp (Bicentennial), Nathan D’Silva (Birch Hill),Tyler Benzekri
