Spring registration deadlines are fast approaching

BASEBALL

The Nashua Parks and Recreation Department is now accepting player registration forms for the upcoming Babe Ruth Baseball season. Registration forms are available at the following locations: Jeannotte’s Market, Bright Spot Convenience Store, Nashua Public Library and City Clerks Office at City Hall.

Forms are also available now at the Recreation Office at Greeley Park and at www.gonashua.com.

All players league age 13 must sign up and try out to play on a Babe Ruth team. League age is a youth’s age as of May 1, 2016.

Deadline for registering is April 14. Any new players to Nashua age 14-15 need to register and try out at the dates listed below. All returning players are asked to fill out a registration form before the season starts.

Tryouts for all players/age groups is 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 16 at Ledge Street Field. A makeup date is set for 10 a.m. on April 17 at Ledge Street Field.

Cal Ripken
registration

Registration is now open for the 2016 spring baseball season at www.nashua
calripken.org. Any child living in Nashua ages 4-12 is eligible to play.

The registration fee is $40 for T-Ball, Rookies and Minors (ages 4-8). The registration fee for AAA and Majors (ages 9-12) is $50. There is a family cap of $75.

SOFTBALL

Nashua Park-Rec registration

The Nashua Parks and Recreation Department is now accepting player registration forms for the upcoming softball season.

Forms are available now at the Recreation Office at Greeley Park and at www.gonashua.com.

They will also be available in mid-March at the following locations: Jeannotte’s Market, Bright Spot Convenience Store, Nashua Public Library and City Clerks Office at City Hall.

The age divisions are as follows, with all league age is age as of Jan. 1, 2016:

Rookie League (ages 7-8): Players in the Rookie League register and there are no tryouts. Players are assigned to a team.

Junior League (ages 9-12): Nine-year-olds can register and try out for the Junior League. Any 9-year-old not making a Junior League team will be assigned to a Rookie League team. All returning Junior League Division players do not need to register or try out as they return to their former Junior teams. Only new players need to register and tryout.

Senior League (ages 13-16): All 13-year-olds and new players need to register and try out. All returning players stay with their old team.

There were not enough interested players to have either a Rookie League or a Senior League last year, but there will be registrations again this year in hopes of securing enough players to run these two leagues.

Tryout dates, which are subject to change depending on field conditions/snow, are as follows:

Nine- and 10-year-olds at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 19 at Roby Park.

Eleven- and 12-year-olds at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 21 at Roby Park. Note: Makeup date for all 9- through 12-year-olds is 6 p.m. Friday, April 22 at Roby Park.

Thirteen- through 16-year-olds at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 26 at Roby Park.

FOOTBALL

HBJC football, cheer signups

The Hollis Brookline Jr. Cavaliers Football and Cheer program registration is open for the 2016 season.

The next on-site registrations will be held at the Brookline Fire Department back room from 9-11 a.m. on April 16.

Prior to on-site registering, applicants will need to register on the NHYFSC site (nhyfcs.org).

coaches needed

The Hollis Brookline Jr Cavaliers Football and Cheer Athletic Program (HBJC) is currently seeking applications for all levels of football and cheer coaching positions.

These positions include head coaches, assistant coaches and junior demonstrators.

SOCCER

Nashua Soccer registration

Those still wishing to register for the Nashua Youth Spring Soccer League and missed the March 6 deadline will be wait-listed and must pay an additonal late fee.

The league is for youths in Nashua and surrounding towns born between Oct. 1, 1996 and Sept. 30, 1996. Visit www.Nashua
YouthSoccer.org to register or for more information. Volunteer coaches are also needed.

BOARDS

MYA elections

The Merrimack Youth Association will be having elections for positions on the MYA Executive Board on May 12 at the MYA Building.

The nominating committee is now accepting names for the following two-year terms: vice-president, assistant secretary and
member-at-large.

All volunteers and parents of an MYA participant are eligible to vote in this election. All are welcome to attend our monthly meetings, which are scheduled for the second Thursday of every month in the MYA building. For more information, call 424-3732.

Nashua Crusaders seek donations

The Nashua Elks Crusaders, a non-profit youth football and cheer organization, is seeking help from the community in purchasing new equipment and uniforms.
