MYA wrestlers finish strong in holiday tourney

The Merrimack Youth Wrestling Program had several wrestlers excel at the 23rd annual Granite YMCA Holiday Wrestling Tournament at Bow High School.

Second graders Jackson Meehan and Cayden Dine finished in first and second place, competing against each other in a close championship match.

First grader Kael McAloon had two pins on the day taking home a first place medal.

Owen Forrest, grade 4, fell in his first match but rallied back with three wins in a row by pin to take third place.

First grader Benjamin Koudriashov competed strongly in his first tournament, taking fourth place.

First graders Collin Schuster and Rhys Dewar, second grader Gryffen Gelinas, third grader Ivey Johnson, fourth grader Mitchell Krupp and sixth grader Hunter Adams also competed strongly in the tournament.

Also, in the earlier Red Devil Rumble in Burlington, Mass., first grader Dewar had two wins by pin and one loss by points, finishing in second place.

Second grader Meehan lost his first match by points and won his next two matches by pin, taking home second place.

Forrest won one match by pin and one by points eventually taking fourth place. Seventh grader Anson Dewar won two matches by points and lost the last one in a very close match by points to take fourth place.

Third grader Ivey Johnson won one match on the day by pin. And Krupp competed strongly in a very tough fourth grade bracket.
