Elks’ annual Soccer Shoot is approaching

By Staff | Aug 2, 2015

The Nashua Lodge of Elks #720 will be holding its 15th Annual Greater Nashua Soccer Shoot contest on Saturday, Aug.15 from 8:30-11 a.m. at the Main Dunstable Road Soccer Fields.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three in each of the four boys divisions and four girls: U-8, U-10, U-12 and U-14, based on participant’s age on Aug. 15.

First-place winners will compete in the Elks New Hampshire State Soccer Championship Shoot in Portsmouth on Oct. 17.

The Elks Greater Nashua Soccer Shoot is a two-stage contest that best represents the skill levels of four age groups. First, the "Five-Goal Contest" is a succession of separate smaller ground level goal targets for the U-8 and U-10 participants (15 kicks).

The "Grid Goal Contest" uses the penalty kick distance (36 feet) to challenge the older U-12 and U-14 participants (15 kicks).

The event is open to all interested boys and girls from area towns including Hudson, Litchfield, Amherst, Brookline, Hollis, Merrimack, Milford, Wilton and Nashua. For more information, contact Al Savage, Elks youth chairman, at 888-0064 or Jack Balch, co-chairman, at 765-2844.
