Nashua 11, Bedford 10

Nashua pitcher Colin Toohey didn’t get the defensive support he needed early on, which led to his heroics at the plate in the bottom of the sixth inning against Bedford in 9/10-year-old District 1 All Star action at Lajoie Field in Nashua. With the score tied and the bases loaded Toohey hit a walk-off single, scoring Trevor Labrecque for an 11- 10 Nashua victory.

Trailing 7-1 going into the bottom of the fourth inning, and 9-2 heading into the bottom of the fifth, the bats came alive for Nashua. The Gate City squad put up eight runs on seven hits and two walks in the bottom of the fifth, including a game-tying triple from Hunter Ward. Ward then scored on a sacrifice fly to give Nashua a 10-9 lead heading into the final frame. Bedford pushed across the tying run in the top of the sixth, setting the stage for Toohey’s walk-off hit.

Nashua’s offense was led by Dean Adams (2 for 4, three RBIs), Jordan Joyal (2 for 4, two runs scored), Isaiah Hedquist (2 for 4, RBI double). Others contributing offensively included Ben Smith and Labrecque, who had big singles in the fifth inning.
