In one of the most spectacular performances in team history the Pride Swim Team of the Nashua Boys and Girls Club had one of its 28 member nationals squad, 8-year-old Natalia Conceicao, crowned national champion for the 30th time in team history at the annual Speedo Boys and Girls Club National Championships in St. Petersburg, Fla.

The 28-member squad managed to capture fifth place overall in an 16-team event, scoring 2,056 points the highest in team history.

Leading the charge was Conceicao, who swam to two national title swims and captured a team high point award finishing second overall in her age group.

Conceicao was the meets U8 girls champion in both the 25-yard breaststroke (21.81) as well as the girls 50-yard breaststroke (48.21).

Conceicao managed to medal in all seven individual events she swam in. She swam to four second place finishes in the 50 backstroke (39.25), 50 freestyle (35.54), 25 backstroke (18.91), 100 freestyle (1:19.66) and one third-place finish in the 25 freestyle (16.90). Conceicao swam her way to an overall second place finish in her age group, just 19 points out of first with a team high of 173 points.

The Pride had 178 personal best swim in 196 swims, breaking 11 team records with 74 individual medals and 100 ribbons, with awards presented to the top-20 finishers.

Amongst the team best personal performances was U12’s Haleigh Swabowicz, who racked up 133 individual points while taking home six individual medals and breaking three team records.

He finished second in the 50 freestlye (27.16), sixth 100 freestlye (1:01.03), seventh 200 freestyle (6:05.38), fourth 50 butterfly, (30.75), sixth 100 individual medley (1:09.66), and sixth 200 IM (2:31.35).

Other top performances: Amy Jiang, fourth 100 backstroke (1:09.48), fifth 50 backstroke (32.61), seventh 50 fly (31.24); Ava Rondeau, 100 backstroke seventh (1:10.96), 100 IM ninth (1:12.53), 200 freestyle (2:15.10), 50 backstroke fifth (32.95), 50 freestyle (29.02), eighth 500 Freestyle (6:05.75); Caroline Chea, seventh 100 breaststroke (1:23.01), and 10th 50 breaststroke (38.02).

The four teamed up to finish second overall in the 12-and-under girls 200 medley relay, the highest finish for a relay in team history. Also swimming to top 10 finishes in the 12-and-under age groups were Mario Santa Rodriguez with six: fifth in the 100 backstroke (1:09.84) , 100 freestyle, 10th (1:01.73), 10th 100 IM (1:11.24), 200 free, seventh (2:13.56), 50 butterfly seventh (31.04), 500 freestyle ninth (6:02.05).

Jerry Xu was ninth in the 100 breaststroke (1:24.17) and eighth in the 50 backstroke (33.97). Evan Zhang was eighth in the 200 freestlye eight (2:20.45).

The Pride did well in the U8 competition as well, scoring 596 of the 2,056 points.

Top 10 finishes were: Emily Sun, 10th 100 Free (1:41.42), 25 butterfly, eighth (23.35, and Angela Zhuang 25 butterfly, seventh (22.70), 25 breaststroke 10th. (26.68).

On the boys side, Andy Xu was seventh in the 25 freestyle seventh (16.77), ninth 100 freestyle (1:25.96), fifth 25 backstroke (19.99), 10th 25 breaststroke (26.03),eighth 50 breaststroke (58.81),fifth 25 butterfly (19.32) and ninth 50 butterfly (46.08).

Also joining the boys duo was Sahil Dua , eighth in the 25 backstroke (21.89), ninth 50 breaststroke (58.85), sixth 50 butterfly (19.32), fourth 50 butterfly (42.77).

Other Pride swimmers garnering medals and ribbons included 10U’s Ania Garg, 15th in the 200 freestyle,(2:59.45), 50 backstroke, 20th (42.50), 100 breaststroke 13th (1:46.48); Sylvia Han seventh 100 butterfly (1:29.71) , eighth 200 freestyle (2:44.45), ninth 200 IM ( 2:58.08); Katrina Norton 50 breaststroke fifth (40.57), 100 breaststroke ( 1:35.00); Emma Tierney eighth 50 back (37.33), seventh 100 back (1:21.04).

Also: Joseph Wang, 10th 50 free ( 32.19), ninth 100 free (1:10.83), seventh 200 free (2:35.62), fifth 100 IM ( 1:21.49), 10th 200 IM ( 3:03.24).

Twelve-and-under swimmers Taylor Walker 100 backstroke tenth (1:11.40), Grace Wang, 50 breaststroke 13th (38.93), 100 breast 14th (1:27.43); 14-and-under Dylan Han, fourth in the 1650 freestyle ( 21:40.17), 16th 100 back (1:11.60), 14th 200 back (2:30.37), 100 breast,14th (1:20.23), 12th 200 breast (2:49.29), 19th 100 fly (1:12.94), 400 IM 19th (5:17.29).

Nashua Blast Girls U13

The first-place Nashua Blast Girls U13 team recently picked up two wins over Londonderry and Hampton to remain undefeated. Nashua edged host Londonderry 6-5, rallying from deficits of 3-0 and 4-2 (halftime).

Kirsten McIntire scored off a pass from Julia Cote to get Nashua on the board. Taylor Guilfoil was the only other goal scorer for Nashua in the first half.

The Blast’s defense stepped it up in the second half with Bailey Morin, Liv Hlebichuk, Theresa Ellison and Olivia Kingston creating turnovers.

Madison Sewade, Elinor Addonizio and Julia Mendes also played well, while Payson Mooso had six saves.

Nashua midfielders Emily Morneau, Britney Pearson, Amelia Piercy, Grace Bellavance, Lindsay Hult and Kiley Obrien played well in the second half to help limit Londonderry.

Nashua rallied for four goals in the second half while the defensive trio of Morin, Hlebichuk and Ellison were stellar in holding Londonderry to only one second half goal. Nashua got goals from Guilfoil, Sarah Signorello (2) and Cote all in the second half. Kaylie Keegan set up Signorello for her second goal of the half.

The Blast then topped Hampton 11-3 at Stellos Stadium. The Blast was the first to score off a Pearson-to-Cote-to-McIntire set up in front of the net. Morneau scored second for Nashua, followed by goals from Cote(two), Pearson, and Keegan. Lindsay Hult, McIntire and Pearson all had an assist in the first half.

Grace Bellavance, Amelia Piercy, Kylie O’Brien played tough at the midfield position and were instrumental in the Nashua transition game. Madison Sewade, Elinor Addonzio, Olivia Kingston and Theresa Ellison played well in the defensive end.

Liv Hlebichuk and Julia Mendes played well at both defense as well as attack and they each had a few scoring chances as well. Mooso had eight saves, many on free restarts.

Scoring for Nashua in the second half were Keegan (two), McIntire, Bailey Morin (first goal of the season) and Pearson. Signorello and Hult each contributed an assist.

Nashua will face a tough Hampstead team next week.

Nashua Cal Ripken MajorsDiamondbacks 5, Cardinals 4

Isaac Zhang drove home the winning run in extra frames with a double while Alex Ortiz threw two shutout innings in relief. Jeff Lugo had a big two-run double for the Cards.

Red Sox 3, Royals 0

Colin Holbrook tossed five scoreless innings for the Red Sox while Joey Deck and Ryan Bourgeois played well for the Royals.

Cardinals 8, Athletics 6

Josue Mpom hit a two-run single for the Cards, who rallied from a 6-0 deficit. Corey O’Day also had a couple of big hits for the winners.

Diamondbacks 4, Red Sox 1

The D’backs were led by the pitching of Gavin Belesca who didn’t give up a hit in five innings and had seven strikeouts. Colin Holbrook and Dylan Richards led the Sox offensively.

Angels 8, Athletics 4

Quinton Bolton pitched six innings to pace the Angels.

Giants 12, Angels 0

Spencer Champagne tossed a two-hitter for the Angels without issuing a single walk.

Triple A resultsDodgers 13, Rockies 12

The Dodgers were led by a three-RBI performance from Jack Taku and a two-hit day for Sam Murray. For the Rockies, Griffin Davis had a bases loaded triple and a great defensive catch from T.J. Dahl.

Dodgers 5, Tigers 3

Henry Grabowski and Jordyn Andino had big hits for the Dodgers, while Connor Kochanek had a double for the Tigers.

Rangers 18, Athletics 6

The Rangers had perfect plate days from Nate Collins, Ryan Bourgeois, Joey Deck, and Ben Wheeler. Rafael Lopez homered for the A’s.

Astros 15, Athletics 10

Derek Finlay (two big hits) and Felix Kreis (key walk) paced the Astros. Logan Larrea led the Athletics’ hitting show going 3 for 3 with four stolen bases and two runs scored.

Rangers 12, Pirates 1

The Rangers’ Nate Collins had three doubles while Ryan Bourgeois, Ben Wheeler and Kenzie Tanner (triple) also hit well. Devin Sawyer had the Pirates’ lone hit.

Pirates 18, Orioles 12

Saul Ulloa, Caleb Rich, Joe Riney, Gabe Aguilar, D’Sean Coffie and Conner Pesce led the Pirates bat attack. Connor Theodore, Avin Ortiz, Alex Petrillo and Prince Mpom paced the O’s.

Merrimack Legion baseball tryouts

Merrimack Legion Post 98 will sponsor tryouts for its Junior and Senior baseballs programs May 31 at 1 p.m. and June 1 at 5:45 p.m. on the Merrimack High School varsity field.

Silver Knights baseball camp

The Nashua Silver Knights will be hosting their annual baseball camp at Holman Stadium July 13-17 from 9 a.m. To 1 p.m.

The cost is $199 per camper, open to youths ages seven to 14, although others can be considered under special circumstances.

Campers will receive a Nashua Silver Knights Summer Baseball Camp T-shirt and four reserved tickets to the Camp Day game, and campers will take part in a pre-game parade. Lunch will be served each day of the camp, and water will be provided.
