Behind the no-hit pitching of Gavin Belesca and Rory Curran, the Diamondbacks improved their season record to 3-1.

Belasca struck out nine while walking none. Curran countered with a two-strikeout, one-walk effort.

Alex Ortiz led all scorers with three runs scored while Landon Moore and Gavin Belesca had two hits apiece.

Spencer Champagne and Tyler Armeen scored the Giants’ two runs.

Cardinals 13, Angels 1

Trevor Mcluin, AK (Akshay), Austin Bourque, Brady Welch, and Yensy Morel all had base hits for the Angels.

Red Sox 6, Giants 2

Patrick Melanson, Travis Holbrook and Drevin Richard all scored two runs and had hits for the Sox, while Colin Holbrook pitched two shutout innings and had a hit.

The Giants were led by Josh Lentz and Spencer Champagne, both who scored and had a hit. Matt Roy played an excellent right field for the Giants.

Giants 7, Athletics 3

The Athletics got off to a hot start scoring three runs in the first after a leadoff walk from Nate Smith sparked RBIs off the bats of Zach Rioux, Nolan Foss and Alex Esquivel.

But, the Giant’s Chris Keefe and Spencer Champagne would shut down the A’s offense for the next five innings backed by some great defensive plays from Josh Lentz, Nolan Meteors and Pete Bauer.

Red Sox 12, Angels 2

Patrick Melanson led the Red Sox to victory with three runs scored and two innings pitched, while Harrison Spaltoff had a big double.

Quinton Bolton and Cam Miele scored for the Angels.

Diamondbacks 11, Royals 2

Royals starter Owen Kelly pitched two scoreless innings before surrendering a three-run homer to Gavin Belesca in the third.

The D-Backs were led by multiple hit games from Charlie Collins and Alex Meesig and three runs scored by Isaac Zhang.

Red Sox 7, Diamondbacks 5

Travis Holbrook had a big homer for the Sox while Devin Richard pitched four innings.

Sports Academy/C4 18U tryouts

The Nashua Sports Academy and C4 Baseball will be hosting a free tryout for all baseball players age 18 and under to play in the New Hampshire Independent Baseball League on May 30 from 6-8p.m. at North Common Field in Nashua.

Silver Knights baseball camp

The Nashua Silver Knights will be hosting their annual baseball camp at Holman Stadium July 13-17 from 9 a.m. To 1 p.m.

The cost is $199 per camper, open to youths ages seven to 14, although others can be considered under special circumstances.

Campers will receive a Nashua Silver Knights Summer Baseball Camp T-shirt and four reserved tickets to the Camp Day game, and campers will take part in a pre-game parade. Lunch will be served each day of the camp, and water will be provided.

Knights tryouts

The Nashua Baseball Academy and the New Hampshire Knights are seeking players for the summer season.

The Knights compete in the New England Independent Baseball League and the ages are from 15 to 19 as of May 1. The Knights finished second in league play in 2014 and were league champions the two years previously in ‘12 and ‘13.

The season runs from mid-June to August 1 and they play Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The league is a wooden bat league.

Players come from surrounding towns including southern New Hampshire and northern Massachusetts.

Junior Legion tryouts

Tryouts for the Nashua American Legion Post 124 Junior Team will be held on Saturday, May 30 from 9 a.m.to 12 p.m.at Nashua’s Ledge Street Field (139 Ledge St.).

There is no fee to try out, and the team is managed by former Nashua Pride player Austin Wasserman.

NH Grizzlies openings

The New Hampshire Grizzlies U14 baseball team has a few openings left for the 2015 season.

John Roper pitching lessons

The John Roper Pitching School, run by the former Major Leaguer and Nashua Pride hurler, has openings for private and semi-private pitching lessons. Pitching classes include pitchers fielding practice, pick off moves, covering bunts etc. There is a maximum of 10 students per class.

HBJC football/cheer registration

The Hollis Brookline Jr. Cavaliers Football and Cheer Program registration is open for the 2015 season. A second onsite registration will be held at the Brookline Fire Department back room from 10 a.m to 12 p.m. on Saturday June 6.

Prior to onsite registering, applicants will need to register on the NHYFSC site (nhyfcs.org), print out required forms and bring to registration.

Junior high league registration

The Northeast Junior High Football League (NJHFL) is currently accepting new members for the 2015 season.

The NJHFL offers three distinct levels of football and cheerleading for those athletes in grades two through eight. The league also holds its own cheer competition that is open both to league members and non-members.

The NJHFL has 13 organizations, representing 29 teams from southern New Hampshire and northeastern Massachusetts. Currently, over 900 players

MYA excutive board elections

The Merrimack Youth Association (MYA) will be having elections for positions on the MYA Executive Board on May 14 at the MYA Building.

The Nominating Committee is now accepting names for the following two-year terms:

President, treasurer, secretary, and member at large. To place a name in nomination, contact committee chairperson, Gary Krupp at 424-3732.

All volunteers and parents of an MYA participant are eligible to vote in this election. All are welcome to attend the MYA monthly meetings on the second Thursday of every month in the MYA building.

Wrestling

Windham camp

The Windham High School wrestling staff will host a four-day youth wrestling camp June 22-25 from 3-6 p.m. for students entering grades K-9 (pre-K wrestlers also welcome at parent/coach discretion).

Designed for all levels of experience, the camp will focus on wrestling skills as well as sportsmanship, teamwork, nutrition, and proper training methods. Campers will receive personal tips, personal letters home, and other gifts from their counselors. Members of the Windham High School wrestling team will be on hand.

The cost of camp is $100 per wrestler, and additional siblings are only $25 each.

Hudson Girls Softball League

The Hudson Girls Softball League (HGSL) is now accepting player registration for the upcoming softball season. The league is open to all girls in the surrounding towns, and registration is available online HGSL.ORG

The 6U (six-and-under) 8U, and 10U divisions will not have tryouts as everyone will be put on a team. For more information go to the HGSL website, HGSL.ORG.

Soccer

UMass Lowell girls clinic

The UMass Lowell women’s soccer coaching staff and players will hold a one day clinic for girls in grades nine through 12 on Sunday, May 17 from noon to 4 p.m. at the turf field at the Cushing Field Complex.

The registration fee is $100 and is refundable in the case of inclement weather or if the camp is cancelled.

UNH boys camp

The University of New Hampshire men’s soccer program will hold its residential camp Sunday, July 26 run through Thursday, July 30.

The camp is open to boys ages nine through 18 and will feature a variety of features and training programs, including specialized goalkeeper training.

Current and former UNH men’s soccer players will be in attendance as camp counselors while college coaches from NCAA Divisions I, II and III will be in attendance as staff members and evaluators.

The cost for a residential camper is $595 while the cost for a day camper is $475.

Included in the price are five days of soccer training and instruction, a camp t-shirt, three meals per day and on-campus housing in a UNH dormitory for those staying overnight.

Field hockey

UNH field hockey clinics

The University of New Hampshire field hockey program’s Summer Skills and Play clinics, which are open to middle and high school athletes, are held the first three Tuesdays in June (9, 16 and 23) from 6-7:30 p.m. each session with training by members of the UNH field hockey team and coaching staff.

The competitive period of game play will expose athletes to new rules of play that have been implemented at the collegiate and club field hockey levels.
