Cougars 31, Braves 26

Adam Gosselin scored nine points and had numerous steals to lead the Cougars.  Luis Ortiz scored all eight of his pointss in the fourth quarter to overcome a Braves lead.

Sharks 31, Sonics 17

Jaden Murphy and Timmy Yang led the winners with six points each while Johnny Sullivan and Jake Taylor had four apiece. Chris Keefe, Peyton Adams, Adam Akel, Kyle Gauthier, and Sam Greenberg all added a basket while Zach Gauthier rounded out the scoring with a free throw.

Sharks 28, Cougars 22

Jaden Murphy and Mohammed Ali led the scoring with eight each.

Sharks 47, Celtics 23

Jaden Murphy led the way with eight points while Johnny Sullivan added seven. Ryan Vogel also played well.

Sharks 36, Royals 26

Jaden Murphy netted eight points while Peyton Adams, Ryan Vogel, and Sam Greenberg played well defensively.

Jazz 31, Thunder 24

The Jazz were led by Christian Belonga’s eight points and seven from Sam McElliot. while Chris McQuinn and Daniel Miranda played a very strong all-around game. Michael Rosatano (eight points) led the Thunder. 

Jazz 32, Braves 21 

Sam McElliott had a game high 10 points while Noah Adams also played well. Juho Hahto led the Braves with six.

Cavaliers 42, Bullets 19

The Cavs’ Mason Matylewski led all scorers with 10, while Josh Lentz added seven and Stav Alkalay and Colin Holbrook each had six. The Bulletts were led by Oscar Trulillo, Jayden Tempro, Sean Quilan and Branden Yan.

Cavaliers 51, Pistons 29

Josh Lentz led all scorers with 13 points for the winners, while Rishi Patel added 10. Also contributing were Cam Miele, Jacob Soucie, TJ Klein, and Patrick Jackson. The Pistons were led by Joesph Champa with 10.

Cavaliers 41, Hawks 12

Cavaliers had nine players contribute in scoring led by Josh Lentz (14). The Hawks were led by Conor Ross, Ben Wiehl and Adam Gnanou.

Cavaliers 36, Eagles 26

Lentz had 13 to lead the way while the Eagles were led by Alex Pournarous with six. Nathan Brodeur rebounded well for the Cavs.

Nuggets 33, Jazz 12

The Nuggets offense was led by Shreyas Pedda’s nine points while Ronit Khanna added eight. Strong defense was played by Nuggets’ Collins Laleau and Aidan Sullivan.

Bulldogs 24, Sonics 17

Dean Adams paced the winners with nine points, while Keith O’Donnell and Luis Vargas added five each. Ian Mack distributed the ball well.

Kaval Botadra scored eight while Shreyas Pedda had six for the winners. Andre Acorn led the Falcons with five.

Nuggets 20, Celtics 12

Aidan Sullivan paced the Nuggets defensively while Anthony Cherbonneau led the Celtics with four points.

Southern NH Cavaliers AA2
tie Manchester Flames twice

In Game one, a 3-3 tie, first year goaltender Jayke Lacasse stood strong, making key saves. The defensive pairing of Matthew MacBean and Matthew D’Ortona as well as Thomas Cahill and Bryson Giersch played well also.

Will Dodge (Issac Windsor assist) scored in a 1-1 first period. In the second period, Aidan Rowe and Ryan Bizier checked well while Windsor, assisted by MacBean, gave the Cavs a brief 2-1 lead.

However the Flames put up another goal tying the game at two. Ryan Bizier scored the locals’ third goal in the third period.

The second game between the two teams ended a 1-1 tie, with Windsor scoring the Cavs’ lone goal. Colin Flood, Jonathan Childs, Ryan Kelly, Will Dodge, Bizier and Rowe peppered Flames Ben Chandonnette with over 30 shots.

Division 12 Nationals

Hudson Bears fifth in Florida

The Division 12 state champion Hudson/Litchfield Bears cheer team finished fifth at the National Championships in Lakeland, Fla.

The HLB team is coached by New Hampshire Coach of the Year Jill Fopiano, assisted by Julie Pascoe, Heather Grondin, and Kristina Coleman. The team was supported by student demos Samantha (Sammi) Thompson, Emma Stalker, Cara Layman and Kirsten Rourke.

Members of the team include Shyann Bergeron, Maika Bernard, Samantha Bleau, Makayla Chadwick, Kaylee Cwiklik, Alexis Darrigo, Leah Filteau, Emma Fopiano, Gwenvieve Grondin, Emily Hogan, Emily Kanan , Adrienne Mckoy-Sophos, Molly O’Keefe, Chantel Paradise, Brooke Pascoe, Makayla Pellitier, Rhiannon Pockett, Amelia Riley, Allison Rodonis, Shelby Scott, and Lillia Szewczyk.

The John Roper Pitching School, run by the former Major Leaguer and Nashua Pride hurler, has openings for private and semi-private pitching lessons. Pitching classes include pitchers fielding practice, pick off moves, covering bunts etc. There is a maximum of 10 students per class. Group pitching lessons will be a maximum of six students. Nashua Baseball Academy
clinics fast approaching

The Nashua Baseball Academy will be hosting upcoming clinics at the Hollis Training Facility, 265 Proctor Hill Road.

On Monday, Dec. 29 there will be a catchers clinic from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., featuring quick feet/quick release throws, drop and block and proper sign giving.

It is free to members, while a fee of $35 will be charged for non-members.

There will be a pitchers clinic on Tuesday, Dec. 30 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. featuring power windup, stretch, new pitches and pickoff moves. It is free for members, $35 for non-members.

On Jan. 6 there will be group training for ages 12 and under and ages 13 and older. The group meets twice a week for one-and-a-half hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays for five weeks and the focus is proper hitting, conditioning and throwing mechanics in a team-like setting.

The session for ages 12 and under is 4-5:30 p.m. and 13 and older is 5:30-7 p.m. Sessions are free for members; the cost is $300 to non-members.

NH Knights openings

The New Hampshire Knights have a few openings for their 13U team thatfinished third in the New England AAU Regionals last year as a 12U team. This team will be attending Baseball Heaven in New York in the spring. All home games are played at Academy Field in Hollis, so there is little travel.

NH Grizzlies openings

The New Hampshire Grizzlies U14 baseball team has a few openings leftfor the 2015 season. This is a full-year program with winter workouts.

Managers are not parents and all practices are at the team’s private indoor facility.

Gymnastics

UNH Kids’ Night Out

The University of New Hampshire gymnastics program will hold a Kids’ Night Out And Show on Tuesday, Dec. 30, from 5-9 p.m. at the UNH Field House. Children age 3 to eighth grade are invited. The night will feature a performance from the Wildcat gymnastics team, plus gymnastics instruction, games and pizza under the supervision of the UNH gymnasts and staff.

The event, a fundraiser for the UNH gymnastics program, costs $40 per child and $35 for additional children from the same family. To register for the event, visit www.unhwildcats.com. Cash and checks will be accepted at the door.
