The Open Juvenile Gate City Skating Club Synchronized Skating team was all smiles after competing in the Boston Synchronized Classic.

The St. Christopher Boys Mites-White played a fast-paced game but fell to St. Kathryn, 29-16.

Scorers included Connor Winslow, Abhim Yadav, Sam Sirois (four points each), and Matthew Kerutis and Nolan Ryan (two each).

Boys Mites Green showed a strong defensive effort that led to a 23-18 win over St. Patrick-Red.

Spencer and Trevor Labrecque paced the win with 12 and seven points, respectively. Also scoring were Reilly Hansen (four points), Danny Dockrill, Keith Dow, Danny Klevisha, and Jacob Langenfeld ( two points each) and Keegan Murphy (one point).

Elks Hoop Shoot set

Players from all area youth/church basketball groups such as CYO and Biddy leagues, as well as any interested area boys and girls between ages 8 and 13, are eligible to participate in the 43rd Annual Greater Nashua Elks Hoop Shoot Free Throw contest on Saturday, Dec. 6, in the Elm Street Middle School Gymnasium on Chestnut Street.

The competition starts at 8 a.m. There is no charge.

In addition to Nashua, players from Hudson, Litchfield, Hollis, Brookline, Amherst, Milford, Wilton and Merrimack are also welcome. A youngster’s age on April 1, 2015, determines his/her age division.

Players must wear basketball or tennis shoes to compete. T-shirts, slacks or pants may be worn but basketball uniforms are preferred. As each age category is completed, contestants may leave. The entire contests last about two hours, enabling players to make any scheduled league games.

Contestants will shoot five warm-ups before shooting 25 free throws. Area winners will compete in the State Elks Southern New Hampshire District Free Throw contest in Rochester on Saturday, Jan. 11.

Amherst Pats make playoff run

The Amherst Patriots Pee Wee football team recently captured the New Hampshire Pop Warner championship, edging the Bedford Bulldogs, 19-18, their fourth title in the last five years. Also, the Patriots topped the Rhode Island-Southern Mass Champion, the Dighton-Rehoboth Falcons, 35-8, in the Pop Warner Regional quarterfinal.

However, they succumbed to Central Massachusetts in the regional semifinals last weekend, despite rallying from a 14-0 deficit to tie the game. It marked the first time Central Massachusetts had not led throughout a game all season long.

Nineteen members of the Amherst Patriots were honored at the Pop Warner Little Scholars Banquet, including six members of the cheer squad and 13 members of the football program.

This year, the Amherst Patriots Football and Cheer program celebrated its 40th anniversary.

Gate City skaters earn medals

The five Synchro Stars Skating Teams representing the Gate City Figure Skating Club in Nashua all bring home a medal from their first competition of the season at The Boston Synchronized Skating Classic in Marlboro, Mass.

Synchronized Skating is a team of figure skaters comprised of eight to 20 skaters on the ice at the same time, skating different formations such as block, circle, line, wheel and intersections.

The two youngest teams, Synchro Stars Black and Synchro Stars Pink, earned the gold and bronze medals, respectively, in the Beginner 1 Division. The Synchro Stars Pink team skated to a Candy theme and the Black team skated to Waka Waka. The skaters range in age from 5 to 13.

The Synchro Stars team competing in the Beginner 3 division with skaters ranging in age from 11 to 15, earned the Gold as well skating to 80’s music. The Beginner 2 team, ages 8-11 earned the Silver Medal with their Fiesta Party theme music. Finally the Synchro Stars Open Juvenile team competed against 10 other teams, placing fourth out of 11 teams, earning the Pewter medal with their Madonna Medley program. The skaters range from 13 to 19 years old and are Synchro Stars highest level team this season.

They will be competing in January in Lake Placid at the Easterns Sectional Championship.

NH Knights openings

The New Hampshire Knights have a few openings for their 13U team thatfinished third in the New England AAU Regionals last year as a 12U team. This team will be attending Baseball Heaven in New York in the

spring. All home games are played at Academy Field in Hollis, so there is little travel.

NH Grizzlies openings

The New Hampshire Grizzlies U14 baseball team has a few openings leftfor the 2015 season. This is a full-year program with winter workouts.

Managers are not parents and all practices are at the team’s private indoor facility.

The John Roper Pitching School, run by the former Major Leaguer and Nashua Pride hurler has begun. Private and semi-private pitching lessons are available. North Shore Lacrosse

Winter training planned

North Shore Lacrosse will offer both leagues for youth, and a winter training camp for high school players.

The high school winter training camp will be Sundays starting January 11 through mid-March. Classes will be limited to a max of 25 players only, with Mark Anastas as one of the head coaches/instructors.

Meanwhile, a league will take place for boys in two separate groups. Grades 4-6 (exceptions are made for skilled third graders) and Grades 7-8 will play on Sunday afternoons at either 12, 1, 2, or 3 p.m. There is also an option to play Monday afternoons at 3 p.m. with no charge
