Nashua Blast U-13 falls to Litchfield; NE Reds take second place

LITCHFIELD TOPS U-13 BLAST , 7-1

The Nashua Blast U-13 B2 team fell to Litchfield despite a powerful performance by Nashua goal keeper Jaiden Dupont, who made 11 saves.

Litchfield’s offense scored five goals in the first two periods, and Nashua did not answer.

In the second half, Blast defensemen Tyler Jagentenfl, Josh Kalman, and Charlie Collins came on strong and held the Litchfield assault to just two goals in the third quarter and none in the fourth. Late in the third quarter, midfielder Sawyer Cosgrove was able to feed a sharp pass to Matt Beaudette who scored Nashua’s lone goal. The Blast could not further penetrate the Litchfield defense.

Nashua Blast Girls U-11 Purple win

The Girls U-11 Nashua Blast Purple Team, led by coach Korey Hlebichuk, defeated Manchester 9-8 in its opening game at Stellos Stadium

The Blast scored first on a Lindsay Hult goal less than a minute into the contest, assisted by Grace Bellavance. Julia Cote scored an unassisted goal 1:30 later and then Olivia Johnson scored unassisted 1:07 later to give the Blast what seemed a commanding 3-0 lead less than five minutes into the game.

Manchester stormed back, scoring the next four goals. The Blast responded just before halftime on a goal by Kiley O’Brien, assisted by Hannah Martin, leaving the score 4-4.

The Blast owned the first 10 minutes of the second half. Charlotte Moloney scored first, assisted by Cote. Johnson scored 2 more goals, the first of which was assisted by Liv Hlebichuk. Unassisted goals by O’Brien and Cote built the lead up to 9-4.

hose would be the last goals of the afternoon for the Blast as Manchester turned up the defense and also scored four times in the last 10 minutes to account for the 9-8 final. Nashua’s Halee Mele was huge in net with nine saves , many of which were in the final few minutes of the contest.

O’Brien was instrumental in getting the offense started by winning seven draw controls on the day. Playing well defensively were were Hlebichuk, Julia Mendes, Caitlin Harrington, and Elinor Addonizio.

YOUTH BASEBALL

NE Reds second in tourney

After a very successful 2013 season, the New England Reds U-14 baseball team picked up where it left off by winning their first three games in the New Hampshire Bobcat Classic tournament.

In the championship game, the Reds battled the New England Stampede Black for seven innings but wound up falling short.

Still, the team racked up 38 hits and scored 48 runs in the event, which was in preparation for the start of the Reds season in the Elite Baseball League. Members of the team include Tim Powers, Nick Boucher, Ryan Hill, Griffin St. Onge, Tyler Kloppenburg, Tyler Grant, Michael Jorgensen, Ryan Simard, Patrick Harrington, Peyton Murra, Payton Musco, Jake Grassett, and Alec Bonvouloir. The team is managed by Mike Reed.

Recreational Lacrosse Leagues

North Shore Lacrosse is offering a recreational lacrosse league for youths at various grade levels beginning June 23 and running every Monday through Aug. 4.

There are no tryouts, no extended practices and no weekend commitments.

Offerings include a Boys Junior League for grades three, four and five; a boys middle school league for grades 6-8, and a boys high school league for grades 9-12. All grades indicate the level a youth will be to start the next school year.

All games will be played at the Seacoast United Outdoor Complex in Epping. Start times vary from 5:30 p.m. up to 9 p.m. and run for 60-90 minutes. The fee is $205 per player. U.S. Lacrosse Membership is NOT required. All Registrations are due on May 1.

NASHUA YOUTH SOCCER LEAGUE REGISTRATION

Registration for the Nashua Youth Soccer League is open to boys and girls in Nashua and surrounding towns born between Oct. 1,1994, and Sept. 30, 2008.

Youths can register on line at NashuaYouthSoccer.org. Registrations now may be put on a waiting list as the season was tentatively scheduled to open on Apr. 12.

Team NH Baseball

Team NH Baseball is currently looking for a few more players for its2014 U-13 team. Season includes indoor and outdoor practices and one tournament in New York. Call Mike Jackson at 577-1772 for more info or email teamnhbaseball@comcast.net.

Nashua PAL Football

The Nashua PAL Force is currently accepting coaching applications as well as athlete registrations for the upcoming football and cheer season.

Spring registration for Hudson Youth Baseball is now open. HYB features six divisions (T-ball, Rookie, AA, AAA, Majors, and Babe Ruth Division) for boys and girls ages 4-15.

Hollis Brookline Jr. Cavalier coaches needed

The Hollis Brookline Jr Cavaliers Football and Cheer Athletic Program (HBJC) is currently seeking applications for all levels of football and cheer coaching positions. These positions include head coaches, assistant coaches and junior demonstrators.

Nashua Baseball Academy Camps

The Nashua Baseball Academy will offer school vacation baseball camps to area youth ages 8-14 from April 28 through May 2.

The Camp will go from 10 a.m.to 1 p.m. and there is an opportunity for early drop-off and late pick-up. Camps will be held rain or shine in the indoor and adjacent outdoor facilities at the Hollis Training Facility at 265 Proctor Hill Road.

The camps are geared towards elite baseball players but are open to all skill levels. The camps will focus on hitting, fielding, positional play and games.

The camp fee is $125 for non-members and $100 for members (and $85 if you bring a non-member). Registrations can be made via nashuabaseballacademy@comcast.net or calling 233-5587.
