St. Thomas of Derry 16

Grace Wilson led St Chris with six points, while Natalie Sheehy had four and Sophia Lathram, Kristen Coumas and Kirsten McIntire each contributed two points for the Huskies.

Anna Stawasz played well in her starting role and Nicole Yeaton played tough defense for St Chris. Ava Therrien, Claire Laplante and Jordan Boschetto contributed with some nice offensive and defensive rebounding for the Huskies.

Despite the strong defensive efforts led by Keegan Murphy and Spencer Labrecque, PMA was able to take the win. Leading scorers for the St. Chris Huskies were Keith Dow (six points), David Dow (five), Jacob Langenfeld (four) and Trevor Labrecque (one).

St. Christopher Green 36,

St. Patrick Red 8

St. Chris was able to come away with the win to improve to 4-1. Top rebounders were Alex Nicholas, Emeka Okorie, and Jackson Lewis. St. Christopher was led offensively by Alex Nicholas (eight points) and Matthew Thibault (six).

Ressurection Mites Black 29,

St. Joe’s Mites 18

Ressurection was led by Josh Lentz (14 points), Liam Novak (eight) and Ryan Stack (seven). St. Joe’s was led by Sean Green (five).

St. Chris White 9

St. Chris was led by Trevor Lebreque’s seven points and Spencer Lebreque’s rebounding and defense. Ressurection was led by great rebounding from Connor Dunning and Liam Novak and scoring from Josh Lentz (seven points).

St. Patrick’s Red 20

Ressurection was led by Ethan Teris (five points) and Jack Stawasz (four) along with strong offensive and defensive guard play from Ryan Stack (eight points). St. Pat’s was led by Josh Nutterbart (six).

Josh Lentz had 12 points and nine rebounds, while Connor Dunning had five points and nine boards. Matt Thibeault led St. Chris with 12 points.

Hawks 44, Satellites 42

Ben Wiehl’s two free throws in the closing seconds was the difference. Spencer Desrosiers led the Satellites with 20 points while Brendon Trombley (12 ), Curtis Harris and Jacob Schlitz (nine each) led the Hawks.

Bullets 64, Lancers 20

The Bullets were led by Vince Priore with 18 points and Colby Tempro with 10.

Bullets 39, Hawks 23

Vince Priore led the Bullets with 10 points and five assists, while Colby Tempro added eight points.

Cougars 36, Saints 34

In a thriller, Jack Brackett led the Cougars to a two-point win with Sid Dutta also scoring eight points 1. The Saints were led by Steve Norris with a game high nine points.

Cougars 43, Celtics 19

Sid Dutta scored 11 points to lead the Cougars, while the Celtics were led by Spencer Labrecque with six.

Jazz 45, Sharks 32

The Jazz, led by Sri Pedda’s seven points, move their record to 7-0 as Gabe Perralt was the only player to score in double digits with the Sharks.

Jazz 33, Thunder 12

Gabe Perralt (eight points) and Alex Koutsas (seven) led all scorers as the Jazz moved to 8-0.

Sharks 44, Braves 33

Great team effort by the Sharks resulted in a 44-33 victory. Vishik Bhalla led all scorers with 13 while Adam Akel added six. Zack Plourde, Josh (JT) Taylor, Cody Fleming, and Damien Peterson led the defense.

Nuggets 36, Spurs 12

The Nuggets were led by Rhett Medling (12), Jilian Gonzalez (10), and a season high six points from Tanay Dalmia.

Stars 39, Cavs 20

Kukas Fong (12 points) and Nathane Kane (eight) led the unbeaten stars. Mason Matylewski had nine to lead the Cavs, who were held to just eight first-half points.

The Cavs were led by Josh Lentz (eight points) and Mason Matylewski (six). Jake Robbins and Cadyen Hequist led the Pistons.

Bullets 42, Knicks 41

Led by Vince Priore (19 points) and Brendan Frost, the Bullets overcame a 17-point, third-quarter deficit to win in double overtime

Jazz 39, Nationals 30

The first-place Jazz continue their winning ways with a victory over the Nationals, thanks to Sam McElliott’s 10 points and a key Alex Koutsas steal. Angelo Soto led the Nationals with 15.

Boys Bantam

Blazers 67, Blue Devils 61

The Blazers’ Michael Lentz and Tyler Bernard both dropped in 17 points each. The Blue Devils were led by Abe Rams with 14.

Suns 66, Jets 56

Michael Jensel led the Suns with 18 points while roman Johnson had 15 for the Jets.

Jack Dinsmore and Jordan Donnelly rebounded well and had nine points each.

JC Choate led the Warriors with 13 while Grace Cardin had six to lead the Suns.

Warrior led by JC Choate with 12 points while Eile Doyle had six to lead the Braves.

Warriors were lead by JC Choate with eight points and four each from Alex Kapopoulas, Madalyn Novak and Moutita Rana.

JC Choate scored 18 points and played well defensively, while Jaelyn Gagne led the Tigers with five points.

Dean Adams’ jump shot with two minutes left ended up being the difference.

Girls Biddy

Panthers 26, Rockets 11

Mia Maldens eight points, the rebounding of Taylor Ireland and a team defensive effort helped give the Panthers their first win of the season.

Knights 22, Hawks 12

The Knights scoring was led by Julianna Martin with 16 points while Chelby Richards and Rebecca Zhu had two each. Nandhirri Babu, Alyssa Johnson, Kaylah Ravagno, and Madison Sewade all played a very on defense. Elizabeth Kopicko (five points) Jisca Sako (four) and Michelle Gichmra (two) led the Hawks.

Spurs 34, Hawks 8

The Spurs picked up their first win, led by Lauren Belair’s eight points. Janessa Lofton, Lydia Mathson, Hannah Casey , Shanowah Brown and Caitlin Demmons each scored four while Kendra Santero rebounded well.

Suns 34, Panthers 26

Mia Maden led the Panthers with 14 points.

Lakers 29 Panthers 10

The Panthers high scorers were Rachel Holden and Paige Anger also with four points each. Elizabeth Deck played well defensively.

Nashua Nighthawks

Fifth Grade Boys Green

The Nighthawks continued their winning streak, defeating the Andover Blue 55-24 and North Andover 53-38.

Against Andover Blue, Nashua led by 29 at the half and cruised. Michael Robbins was top scorer, with 14 points, followed by Jalen Gilmore (10), Jaden Murphy (eight), Matt Keisling (eight), and Curtis Harris (seven).

Others contributing to the team’s 55 points are John Sullivan, Nathan Kane, Josh Taylor, Cody Rocheleau, and Liam Novak.

The Nighthawks took the lead in the first minute against North Andover and never lost it. Leading the way were were Harris (14 points), Robbins (11), Gilmore (10), and Sullivan (eight). Others contributing were Rocheleau and Murphy. Robins and Sullivan had four rebounds and five steals apiece.

Fifth Grade Boys White

Nashua defeated Reading Red, 46-44, taking the lead wth 10 seconds left on a Stephen Norris (team-high 15 points) layup with 10 seconds remaining. Sid Dutta had earlier hit a clutch jumper.

Sam McElliott added seven points, and Isaac Acorn and Dutta had six apiece. Sebastian Coelho, Dunning, Landon Moore, and Daniel Dockrill contributed the rest. Defensively, the Nighthawks excelled with over 30 rebounds and 14 steals.

Nashua then topped Westford Gray, 34-25,led by McElliott’s 12 ponts and eight from Connor Dunning. Kyle Gauthier and Landon Moore also contributed strong defensive efforts. The team also extended its streak of outrebounding its opponents to nine games this season.

Seventh Grade Boys

The Nighthawks lost to explosive Lowell, 51-30, despite Chase Hart’s 15 points. Also scoring for the Nighthawks were Matt Wall and Andrew Penkala (three each); Gabe Perrault, Stephen McLendon, and Casey McNally (two each) and Nevan Roy, Jeff Reza, and Tyler Downing, a point each. Also playing well for Nashua were Melvin Campbell and Spencer Desrosiers.

Nashua also lost to North Andover, 65-37, while Hart led with 12 points and five rebounds. Nashua also received solid efforts from Andrew Penkala (seven rebounds) and Stephen McLendon (five points) ,Nevan Roy and Casey McNally (two rebounds, two assists each), and Matt Wall (four points) and Spencer Desrosiers (three points).

Eighth Grade Boys

Nashua rallied from a 32-28 halftime deficit to pull out a 52-51 win over Lowell and improve to 5-0.

Playing well were Alex Amigo, Skye Boykin, Alonzo Linton, Yanis Nyantenji, Xahn Frater, Matt Franco, Razz Alkaly, John Paul Champa, Josh Reeder, Richie Mercado, and Wilber Frias.

Sixth Grade Girls

The Nighthawks downed Wakefield 36-25 to improve to 4-2 in their division. Nashua held Wakefield to 10 first-half points while Theresa Ellison, Kirsten McIntire, and Alexa Wilkins rebounded well.

Julianna Martin, Abby Coy, and Aryanna Murray played well defensively while the Hawks were lead by Hannah Muchemore, who scored 14 points. Aaliyah Forman and Bianca Gershgorin added nine and four points, respectively.

GYMNASTICS

NSG takes first

The Nashua School of Gymnastics Level 4 (110.075) and 6 (111.35) teams captured top honors at the recent Winter Carnival Invitational in Stratham.

Gymnasts needed an All-Around score of 33.00 to qualify for State Meet. Individual results as follows:

Level 4 (Icicle Division)

Cristina Cross qualified for States with an All Around of 36.15 (first). She scored a 9.10 (first ) on vault, 9.25 (first) on bars, 8.85 (fifth) on beam and 8.95 (second) on floor.

Megan White qualified for States with an All Around of 33.30 (fifth). She scored an 8.50 (second) on vault, 7.85 on bars, 9.00 (third on beam and 7.95 (seventh) on floor.

Level 4 (Penguin Division)

Gabbi Gillis qualified for States with a first place All Around of 36.15. She scored an 8.85 (first) on vault, 8.65 (sixth) on bars, 9.375 (second) on beam and 9.275 (first) on floor.

Sue Mai White qualified with an All Around of 35.425 (fourth place). She scored an 8.75 (second) on vault, 9.55 (first) on bars, 9.125 (fifth) on beam and 8.00 on floor.

Lindsey Campbell qualified with an All Around of 34.375 (seventh place). Her scores were: 8.40 (sixth) on vault, 8.15 on bars, 8.95 (seventh) on beam and 8.875 (third) on floor.

Level 4 (Polar Bear Division)

April Koczalka qualified for States with an All Around of 35.50, good for fifth. She had an 8.85 (first ) on vault, 9.20 (second) on bars, 8.675 (eighth) on beam and 8.775 (third) on floor.

Level 4 (Snowflake Division)

Annika Sinclair qualified for States with a first place All Around of 36.40 that included an 8.70 (third) on vault, 9.225 (second) on bars, 9.60 (first) on beam and 8.875 (fourth) on floor. She also received the Teddy Bear Award for the highest All Around score of the session.

Cloe Rivest qualified with an All Around of 33.875 (fourth ), scoring an 8.90 (first) on vault, 8.15 on bars, 8.425 on beam and 8.40 (seventh) on floor.

Level 6 (Icicle Group)

Corey Foster qualified for States with a top ranked All Around of 37.050. She scored a 9.40 (first) on vault, 9.00 (first) on bars, 9.05 (first) on beam and 9.60 (first) on floor. She also received the Teddy Bear Award for the highest All Around score of the session.

Emily Colburn qualified for States with an All Around of 35.15 (fifth); she scored an 8.70 (fifth) on vault, 8.85 (third) on bars, 8.80 (fourth) on beam and 8.80 on floor.

Level 6 (Penguin Group)

Devon Rosier qualified for States with an All Around Score of 36.825 (first). She scored a 9.50 (first) on vault, 8.75 (seventh) on bars, 9.025 (first) on beam and 9.55 (first) on floor.

Olivia Bouthot qualified for States with a second place All Around Score of 35.475. She totaled an 8.625 on vault, 9.15 (first) on bars, 8.40 (second) on beam and 9.30 (second) on floor.

Abbey Catalano qualified for States with an All Around Score of 35.40 (third). She had an 8.875 (seventh) on vault, 9.00 (second) on bars, 8.40 (eight) on beam and 9.125 (third) on floor.

Hannah Speight also qualified with an All Around Score of 34.60, good for sixth. She scored an 8.175 on vault, 8.70 (eighth) on bars, 8.575 (third) on beam and 9.15 (6th) on floor.

Jenna Hatula qualified for States with an All Around of 34.525 (seventh) that included an 8.375 on vault, 8.60 on bars, 8.55 (fifth) on beam and 9.00 (sixth) on floor.

Level 6 (Polar Bear Group)

Reece Greenleaf qualified for States with an All Around Score of 36.475 (first). She scored a 9.075 (fifth) on vault, 9.00 (first) on bars, 8.90 (first) on beam and 9.50 (second) on floor.

Emmie White qualified as well with an All Around of 36.15 (second) that included a 9.25 (second) on vault, 8.90 (fourth) on bars, 8.40 (second) on beam and 9.60 (second) on floor.

Madelyn Campano had a score of 17.10 with an 8.90 (sixth) on bars and 8.20 (fifth) on beam.

Level 6 (Snowflake Group)

Kyra Rivest qualified for States with an All Around of 35.75 (fourth). She scored a 9.575 (second) on vault, 9.00 (fourth) on bars, 7.825 on beam and 9.35 (second) on floor.

Lexi Sarro also qualified an All Around of 35.575 (sixth); she scored an 8.85 on vault, 8.85 (third) on bars, 8.625 (first) on beam and 9.25 (fifth) on floor.

Abby Fitzpatrick qualified with an All Around of 34.525; she scored an 8.85 on vault, 8.55 on bars, 7.675 on beam and 9.45 (first) on floor.

HOCKEY

Cavaliers 2 White splits

The Cavaliers Squirt 2 White team split a doubleheader, beating the Hudson Cyclones 4-3 and losing to Winchester 7-5.

In the first gave against the Cyclones, the Cavs found themselves in a hole early. With just 13 seconds into the first period, Hayden Shattuck managed to sneak the puck past Cavaliers goaltender Jacob Roy on an Aiden Laurendeau rebound. The remainder of the first period turned into a defensive duel with Sinead Macaraeg, Michael Spinazzola, Kevin Sullivan and Matthew Choate minimizing the Cyclones’ offensive pressure. Cyclones goalie Christian Reynolds was tough.

Colin Ross, assisted by Laurendeau, gave the Cyclones a 2-0 lead just 15 seconds into the second, and just a minute later Hayden Shattuck made it 3-0.

But, the Panthers rallied with goals by Chase Devins (two)and Ryan McInnisis to tie things at 3. Jesse Gertsz scored the winner midway throught the third on a breakaway.

In their second game, the Cavaliers fell short despite the valiant efforts of the defensive line of Sinead Macaraeg and Michael Spinazzola, and goalie Ryan McInnis.

The Cavs, who trailed 6-0 late in the second, ended up with two goals each by Ty Soule and Sal Vella and one by Devins to pull to within 6-5 but Winchester got an empty netter with 20 seconds left.

SNH Cavaliers Blue win two

Even though the Cavaliers were missing key players, they managed two big wins. In the first of back to back games, Goaltender Matthew D’Ortona posted an 8-0 shutout win over the Newburyport Clippers.

The offensive line of Ryan Bizier, Andre Ducharme and Ben Foley broke the save streak at 4:41 of the first. Ducharme scored with an assist going to Foley. With just under two minutes left in the frame defensemen Matthew MacBean made a diving defensive play at center ice. Cavs forward Aidan Rowe picked up the loose puck and sent in Ducharme for his second of the game giving the Cavaliers a 2-0 ending the first.

Foley and Ducharme combined again for Ducharme’s third goal of the game giving the Cavaliers a 3-0 lead. Midway thru the second, defenseman Jack Cahill managed the blue line, and Bizier broke in for a goal and a 4-0 lead.

The third period was all Cavaliers, Nate Bizier scored two with an assist going to Aidan Rowe and Ducharme, while Ducharme posted two more with an assist to Will Dodge.

The Cavs later won an 8-5 shootout over Amesbury, Mass.

The Cavs got first period goals by Foley (Aidan Rowe assist) and Ducharme and it was 2-2 after one. Ducharme scored again (D’Ortonas assist) in the second but Amesbury led 4-3 after two.

At 11:02 of the third Goaltender Nate Bizier made the game changing save on a breakaway. A Dodge rebound goal (D’Ortona assist) and one by Ryan Bizier put the Cavs up 5-4 but Amesbury tied it minutes later.

The Cavs grabbed the lead for good on Ducharme’s power play goal with just under four minutes left (Aidan Rowe assist). Ducharme scored again just a minute later giving the Cavaliers a 7-5 lead and Aidan Rowe and Will Dodge combined for the final goal.

Nashua Panthers I wins two

After several ties in a row, the Nashua Panthers Squirt 1 team managed to pull off two impressive wins in the same day, topping Wakefield, Mass., 6-3 in a Valley League game and Henniker 3-2 in Granite State League play.

In the win over Wakefield (Mass.), defenseman Ryan Cavanaugh led the way with two goals and a solid game at the blue line. Javin Manfield had a goal and two assists, Brian Chisholm scored once and had an assist, while single goals were added by Connor Ludford and Kyle Dunn. Mitchell Lynch and Eric Bragg added assists.

In the Henniker game, Chris Skelley scored twice, including the game winner. Chisholm rifled one in the top corner after an amazing break out pass by Shaun Marion. Assists went to Karenna Beckstein and Lynch.

Goaltender Matt Licata was spectacular in both games.

Cavs I 3, Burlington (Mass.) 2

Isaac Rogers opened the scoring in the Valley League contest halfway into the first period with a beautiful goal off an excellent break-out pass from linemate Max Sears. TJ Vitullo put the Cavs up 2-0 in the second period with a blast from the slot.

Austin Ciszek gave the locals a 3-0 advantage off a tremendous pass from linemate Chris Haley. Burlington rallied with two early third period goals, however. But, Cavs forwards Sears, Vitullo, Rogers and the line of Ciszek-Haley-Nick Provencher dominated play in the offensive zone. Cavs defensemen Damien Barahona, Sean Kelly, Ruthvik Yenisetti and Joe Roth were strong throughout the game, while Cavs goalie Nick Hall came up with several key saves.

Nashua Panthers 5, S&S 4

Tyler Martin scored two goals in the final 30 seconds of the game and Ryan Catalano added two goals in a miracle-type Panthers’ comeback.

Trailing 4-3, Martin buried his first goal of the game with thirty seconds left to tie the score, assisted by Isaac Winsor and Catalano. Martin added his second goal of the game with 4.9 second remaining on the clock, assisted by Winsor, for the game-winner.

Catalano scored the first two goals of the game for the Panthers giving them a 2-1 lead in the first period. Brenner Plaehn assisted on both goals with Julie McLaughlin and Martin adding an assist on each.

The Panthers fell behind 3-2, but it was Plaehn to the rescue scoring to tie the game assisted by Catalano and Martin. S&S scored early in third period which set the stage for Martin’s heroics.

Dylan Carr, Brayden Goode and Anne McIntosh played well offensively while the defensive foursome of Plaehn, Christopher Gillis, Matthew Tourangeau and Joey Turner were a force.

In goal, Cameron Reinbold stopped several point blank opportunities late.

Skeffington Fund election set for Feb. 9

A general election for the Peter J. Skeffington Scholarship Fund, Inc. Board of Directors will be held on Feb. 9 at 7 p.m. in the Merrimack Youth Association Building on Daniel Webster Highway.

Requirements for eligibility are you must have been, or are currently participating as a coach, manager, official or Board of Director member with the Merrimack Youth Association programs.
