Nashua’s 12-year-old Cal Riplen All Stars are set to face Exeter on Wednesday at 8 p.m. at Murray Field, in front of Holman Stadium in the winners bracket finals of the state tournament.

The losers bracket finals are set for 5:30 p.m.

Nashua got a reality check in its second game of the state tourney from Youngsville on Sunday.

After trailing 8-1 in the first inning, the first time the team has been behind in any game this season, Nashua chipped away at the deficit and took a 10-9 thriller including Zach Finkelstein’s two-run home run to tie the game in the at 9-09. That shot cleared the net and sailed onto Amherst St.

Starting pitcher Stephen McLendon allowed four hits and was hurt by four Nashua errors in the first. Over the next four innings he allowed one run on four hits.

Nashua’s offense featured two-run singles by McClendon and Sammy Malignaggi and an RBI single from Brendon Auriana.
