Nashua 12’s host state tourney
The Nashua All Stars will be hosting the 12-year-old Cal Ripken All-Star state tournament this weekend at Murray Field, in front of Holman Stadium.
The eight teams participating in the tournament include: Nashua, Dover, Youngsville, Con Val, Exeter, Keene, Hollis Brookline and Concord.
Nashua will try to carry some momentum from its district tournament victory in Swanzey, in which it went undefeated in four games by outscoring its opponents 67-9.
Having won two state tournaments in the past decade, the All Stars have been top contenders year after year. This is the first season in which Nashua combined all of its Cal Ripken leagues into one, allowing each team to garner more talent from around the city.
The tournament’s setup consists of double-elimination rules, allowing a team two losses before it is eliminated. The winner and runner-up will both advance to the regional tournament in Milford, Connecticut, held on the weekend of July 20.
There will be four games played on Saturday and Sunday, two on Monday and Tuesday, one on Wednesday, and the championship game will be held on Thursday.
Nashua will kick off the tournament against Dover on Saturday at 10 a.m.
