Southern NH Cavalier Mites beat Andover Warrior Mites in overtime 3-2. The start of the game played out with strong forechecking from both teams. Evan Doughty, Kelci Waters and Jesse Gertz kept the Andover offense off balance while Patrick Sehulster and Jake Dodge used the neutral zone to back up Andover’s advances.

The Cavaliers found themselves shorthanded after a questionable tripping call midway through the frame. The penalty killing unit of Chase

Devins, Karenna Beckstein and Sal D’Amico’s use of the boards allowed W. Dodge to move behind Andover’s goalie and jam home a shorthanded goal giving the Cavaliers a 1-0 lead.

Minutes later Andover was back on the power play, but the defense of Jack MacEachen and Mike Spinazzola would not let Andover get a clear shot on net. After an Andover push up ice late in the first and a great save by Matt D’Ortona, W. Dodge turned it back up ice dumping and chasing the puck down low. Dodge set the play to D’Amico whose shot deflected off ofAndover’s goalie right to Sinead Macaraeg who knocked it home for a 2-0 lead.

Andover started their comeback scoring the only goal of the second cutting the lead in half. Andover made several runs in the third finding the back of the Cavalier’s net on a two on one break-in tying the game and sending it into overtime.

With less than two minutes left in overtime the face-off was in the Cavaliers’ end. K Beckstein found the puck and pushed her way through the neutral zone up to Sehulster splitting the defense. W. Dodge trailing the play picked up the puck and went short-side for the game

winning goal.
