Southern NH Cavs split

With just a few regular season games remaining for the Southern NH Cavaliers, they split their weekend action with a win and a tie. In the opening game Friday night the Cavs fell behind 1-0 midway into the period to the Salem/Swampscott Pee Wee team. With under a minute to play in the first, forwards Damien Barahona and TJ Vitullo worked the puck down low to linemate Maddy Pitre, who banged home the goal to tie the game 1-1.

Midway into the second period, Vitullo put the Cavs up 2-1 off a feed from Barahona and defensemen Nick Gould. However, Salem/Swampscott was not done, tying the game in the third period. Less than a minute later the Cavs’ Isaac Rogers scored the game-winner off a nice breakout pass from Nic Miller.

Defensemen Sean Kelly and Alec MacEachean and goalie Austin Ciszek turned in strong performances.

In their second match-up the Cavs battled to a 1-1 tie against a tough Danvers team. Danvers jumped out to a 1-0 lead midway into the first period. Cavs defensemen, Alec MacEachen, Sean Kelly, Max Porter and Nick Gould did an excellent job in limiting Danvers’ scoring opportunities against Cavs goalie Ben Goolsby.

While Cavs forwards Maddy Pitre, Nic Miller, Austin Ciszek, Joe Roth, Max Sears, Damien Barahona and TJ Vitullo did an excellent job in the transition game. Early in the third Vitullo tied the game 1-1 off an excellent feed from Gould at the point.
