Nashua Catholic hoop results

The Nashua Catholic Junior High School basketball program proved to be the class of Class I as both the boys and girls teams won their respective Tri-County championships.

The NC Boys held off a tough Fairgrounds Middle School team in winning the boys final 47-35. The NC girls won their third straight Tri-County title by beating Windham Middle School 43-32. This marks the first time that both the NC boys and girls have won Class I titles in the same year.

The boys team, headed by first-year coach Paul Williams, were a force throughout the season. The foursome of Caleb Green, Jacob Coleman, Patrick Donovan and Tyler Lennon combined to put up big numbers in all categories and were the catalysts for the NC team. Vishvak Vadivel, Mitchell Mahoney, Matt Lambalot and Noah Tardiff played well in the paint all season. Tommy Ethier and Sarveen Shafiyan-Rad gave NC some great defense and scoring punch, while Alex Moody and Robert Batsevich provided energy and defensive depth for the Wildcats.

NC girls head coach Kyle Tave and assistant coach Gary Murtagh had the Lady Wildcats playing intense defense all year. Led by captains Molly Dee and Meghan Donovan, the Wildcats showed great ball movement and unselfish play. Like the last two NC girls championship teams, this year’s edition was deep in talent. In addition to Donovan and Dee – Meagan Morelli, Emily Moran and Haleigh Therrien are all two-time champions.

First-year eighth graders Eireann Kolden and Kayla Bernier had terrific seasons. Caroline Hoffer led a solid group of seventh graders including Alexis Kirkland, Marissa Gaudette and Mariana Gomez who played well in their first season. Tkaczyk did a great job managing the team and helped out on the court as well seeing action is several games.
