The Cavaliers began the game strong as center Paul Vachon scored in the first period. The offensive line of Torin White, Vachon and Joshua Salsman were strong on offense and kept the puck moving in the offensive zone. The defensive pairings of Jackson Gates, Thomas Kelly, Matthew Lynch and Peter Lennox had a very strong back-checking game and kept the Cavs ahead through the first period. In the beginning of the second period a second goal by Vachon put the Cavs ahead 2-0.
