Nashua Elks New Hampshire Southwest District champion, 12-year old Tilak Patel, finished as the New Hampshire State Elks 12-13 boys runnerup in the 2013 New Hampshire State Elks Hoop Shoot Free Throw contest held in the Portsmouth High School Gymnasium on Sunday. 13-year-old Cody Morissette of Portsmouth won the 12-13 boys championship as he dropped in 24 out of 25 free throws.

New Hampshire’s other five State Champions crowned Sunday were: 8-9 boys champion, Brendan Walker of Littleton, 8-9 girls champion Emily Prest of Littleton and 10-11 girls champion Laney Hadlock of Littleton, 10-11 boys champion Alex Lacasse of Manchester and 12-13 girls champion Destiny Lopez of Manchester.

Following the awarding of Division Championship trophies, Past Grand Exalted Ruler Amos A. McCallum presented the Harry Mullen Memorial ‘Sharpshooter’ Trophy to the top boy shooter, Cody Morissette. New England Elks Regional Hoop Shoot director, Richard Blinn, presented the Fred Rheault Memorial ‘Sharpshooter’ trophy to the top girl shooter Destiny Lopez of Manchester.

New Hampshire’s six Hoop Shoot champions will now compete in the fourth level of Hoop Shoot competition against their counterparts from the other five New England States at the Elks 2013 Regional Hoop Shoot contest in Portland, Maine on March 23. The Elks National Hoop Shoot Finals will take place in Springfield, Mass., in April with the six National Hoop Shoot winners having their names inscribed on a plaque at the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.
