SNH Cavaliers win Groton (Mass.) Christmas tourney

The Southern NH Hampshire Cavaliers outscored the opposition 34-11 from Dec. 26-30 to win the 35th annual Groton Junior Hockey Association’s Tourney in the Woods at the Groton School and Lawrence Academy Arenas in Groton, Mass.

Members of the Christmas tournament championship team, which beat Acton-Boxborough (Mass.), Twin City (Leominster/Fitchburg, Mass.), host Groton and Assabet Valley (Concord, Mass.), are Kelci Waters, Evan Doughty, Jake Dodge, Michael Spinazzola, Salvatore D’Amico, Jesse Gertz, Jack MacEachen, Patrick Sehulster, Karenna Beckstein, Chase Devins, Matthew D’Ortona, Will Dodge, Sinead Macaraeg and tournament MVP Stephen Toom. The team is coached by Stephen Toom, Keith Waters, Darryl MacEachen and Mark Devins.

Tryouts set forLady Panthers

The NE Lady Panthers Girls AAU basketball club is hosting tryouts for the 2013 spring/summer season at the UMass Lowell Student Recreation Center (100 Pawtucket St., Lowell, Mass) on Sunday, Jan. 20.

All girls in grades four through 11 are invited to attend at the following times: Fourth-sixth graders from 1-2:15 p.m.; seventh-eighth graders from 2:15-3:30 p.m.; and high schoolers from 3:30-5 p.m.

GID Winter Workouts
begin in February

The winter workouts for ages 9-14 will go on Fridays, beginning Feb. 1 and running through March 8 (all Fridays) from 8-10 p.m. Players ages 15 and up will start Feb. 4 and run through March 11 (all Mondays) from 3-5 p.m.

The workouts, which cost $300, are limited to 14 players per session with a minimum of 10.
