HOCKEY

Valley League

SNH Cavaliers 3,
Chelmsford (Mass.) 2

The Cavaliers started with a great back checking game and kept the score within one goal as Chelmsford was moving the puck well. Jackson Gates started the offense for the Cavaliers on a breakaway as Chelmsford’s defense fell short tying the game 1-1.

The offensive line of Peter Lennox, Joshua Salzman and Jackson Gates were moving the puck well together breaking down the Chelmsford defense. Later in the second period Gates again scored putting the Cavs ahead 2-1.

The second offensive line of Anthony Viola, Dylan LaLiberte and Collin MacDonald played with great energy and proved to be too strong for Chelmsford.

The great back checking continued as the Cavs lead defenseman Torin White had his strongest game of the year stopping Chelmsford assault in the offensive zone. The defensive pairings of Paul Vachon, Cole Giersch and Mathew Lynch also kept the puck out of the zone. In the 3rd period Chelmsford was able to put one more goal on the board tying the game 2-2.

The Cavs rallied, and with three minutes left in the third period, Anthony Viola scored for the 3-2 lead. Chelmsford tried multiple times in the last two minutes but Cavs goalie Thomas Kelly stopped multiple shots to secure the win.
