The Sonics came back from an early deficit to record their third win of the season. Parsley Laleau scored 10 points to lead the Sonics. Matt Savoia added nine points and several key rebounds.

Connor Erickson led all scorers with15 points, while Caio Campos added five of his own.

Satellites 45 Hawks 44

Jordan Donnelly led all scorers with 16 points.

Bullets 41, Jets 33

The Bullets were led by Ethan Carta-Duscharme with 13 points and two assists. Casey McNally

and Derek Chiavelli added six points each. Connor Coy paced the offense with eight assists.

Bullets 40, Eagles 24

Colton Welch led the Bullets with 11 points off the bench, while Derek Chiavelli added eight.

JR. BIDDY BOYS

Pistons 25, Nets 22

The Pistons were led by Mitchell Lynch and Liam Novak with eight points each. Joseph Bodi and Ian Deluca chipped in with six points each, while Dylan Dichard added four points and some big rebounds.

Jazz 38, Broncos 16

The Jazz was led in scoring by John Sullivan’s 22 points, while Drevin Richard added six, and Alec Smolski and Griffin Johnson chipped in with four each.

The Broncos were led in scoring by Devin Bracetty and Gabrial Sousa with 10 and four each.

Bulldogs 16, Spurs 13

Jaden Murphy led all scorers with eight points while Nitish Bodicharla chipped in four. Brandon

Metivier and Viraj Jayaraman each recorded a free throw, while Kobey Marshall had a great

game defensively.

Nuggets 35, Falcons 13

Great defense from the entire team secured the win for the Nuggets, who were lead by Rhett

Medling (11 points), Jilian Gonzalez (six) and the Botadra brothers (Manav and Keval with six

each).

Nuggets 33, Spurs 14

Manav Botadra secured 12 rebounds and 12 points in the win.

Mustangs 26, Falcons 24

In the season opener, the Mustangs romped back from a seven point fourth-quarter deficit to nip the Falcons in an exciting contest. The Mustangs were led by Tyler Lavallee with 14 points. Also scoring were Conor Ross (four), Trevor McCluin (four), Adam Gnanou (two) and Nicholas Dahl (two). Eli Woodward and Martin Cuetzee led the way on defense. The Falcons had strong games from Jack Peters (eight), Isaac Acorn (six) and David Mullaney (four).

Mustangs 19, Celtics 17

The Mustangs notched their second two-point victory in a defensive battle. Tyler Lavallee led the way with six points. Kyle Vancelette played tenacious defense to disrupt the Celtics, who were led by Charlie Collins and Samuel McElliott with seven and six points, respectively.

BOYS BANTAM

Suns 61, Jets 53

Trailing 22-10 after the first quarter and 32-23 at the half, the Suns went on a 19-3 third-quarter run to take the lead and hold off the Jets until the final buzzer. Michael Jensen scored a game-high 21 points to lead the Suns, while Val Pagan and Prince March scored 10 and six, respectively.

The Jets were led by Sean Murphy’s 19, while teammates Owen Miller (eight points) and Adam L’Heureux (six) chipped in offensively.

Colts 58, Kings 57

The Colts beat the Kings in a thriller to open the season. Ryan Naber made the winning free throw in the closing seconds and the Colts held on for the victory. Anthony Martin added nine points for the winners. The Kings were led by Ryan Penkala’s 12 and Jordan Buckmire’s 11.

GIRLS BIDDY

Rockets 48, Panthers 29

Arianna Motivala’s 22-point effort led the Rockets past the Panthers. Alyssa King chipped in with six for the Rockets. The Panthers had strong efforts from Hannah Muchemore and Dottie Charest with 15 and six points, respectively.

JUNIOR MITES (3rd/4th grade)

Co-ed: St. Chris Green 12,
Resurrection Orange 5

The St. Chris Green Jr. Mites won a hard-fought game against Resurrection Orange, bringing their record to 4-0. St. Chris trailed by four at the half, but a strong second half allowed them to pull out the victory. Leading the offense for St. Chris were Spencer Labreque (eight points) and David and Keith Dow with two points each.

MITES (5th/6th grade)

Girls: St. Chris White 34,
Infant Jesus 10

The St. Chris White Mites demonstrated some great passing as they pulled together for the win over Infant Jesus, improving their record to 4-0. Lizzie Croke (8), Rita Dow (8), O’Neill Galinson (6) and Jennifer Marino (6) lit up the boards for St. Chris.

Girls: St. Elizabeth’s 40,
St. Chris Green 6

In a tough game against an undefeated opponent, St. Chris fought hard to the end and improved its rebounding efforts overall. Sophia Lathram was a scoring machine, sinking all of the baskets for St. Chris.

Boys: Immaculate Conception 38, St. Chris White 8

In their toughest game so far this season, St. Chris White lost to IC at Resurrection, dropping their record to 2-3. In a game in which the St. Chris shots almost refused to fall in, Jackson Lewis, Brian D’Cruz and Alex Karski each scored for St. Chris.

CADETS (7th/8th grade)

Boys: St. Chris 54,
St. Joseph’s 14

St. Chris rolled to a big win over St. Joe’s at Tyngsborough High School, improving their record to 3-2. Early St. Chris defensive pressure led to golden scoring opportunities, capitalized on by Tommy Ethier and Ronnie Silva.

Mason Dane, Joe Guidiboni and Jared Levesque were there to clean up the offensive boards on rare misses by Grant Coy, Andre Laplante and Sam Martin.

Nashua Nighthawks

4th/5th Grade Girls:
Nighthawks 43, Wilmington 2

The Lady Nighthawks defeated Wilmington in their season opener 43-2. The girls started the game off with some tough defense and never let up. Julianna Martin put a lot of pressure on the opposing point guard, while Aryanna Murray, Abby Coy, Hannah Muchemore, Bianca Gershgorin, and Jordyn Choate could not have played the passing lanes any better by getting several steals.

Alayja Linton, Kendra Santoro, and Alexa Wilkins rebounded the ball extremely well and did not give up many offensive rebounds.

Offensively, the team was lead by Hannah Muchemore and Linton, who each scored 12 points. Murray added 10 points and Coy had 8 points.

7th Grade Boys: Nighthawks top Methuen, Tewksbury

Nashua defeated Methuen 69-64 behind strong performances from Yanis Nyantenji (11 points, 13 rebounds), Xahn Frater (8 rebounds,18 points) and Alonzo Linton (17 points, 5 rebounds). Sclyler Boykin had a very strong game defensively for the Nighthawks.

Nashua also defeated Tewksbury Red. The Nighthawks received big games from Josh Reeder (12 rebounds, 18 points) and Frater (3 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals). Defensively, Nashua was led by the defense of Boykin, Alex Amigo and Clayton Medling.

4th Grade Boys:
Nighthawks 64, Pelham 20

The Nashua Nighthawks 4th Grade team remains undefeated at 6-0 after beating Pelham 64-20. The Nighthawks were led offensively by Curtis Harris (14 points), Michael Robbins (13 points), Nathan Kane (12 points) and John Sullivan (12 points). Also playing well were Matthew Keisling (6 points), Stephen Norris (2 points), Daniel Dockrill (4 points) and River Hart (1 point). On defense, Nashua received strong efforts from Josh Taylor and Joshua Kane.

Locals strong at Bow qualifier

Nashua School of Gymnastics Levels 4 & 7-10 competed in the Granite State Qualifier meet December 16th, 2012 at Granite State Gymnastics in Bow.

Individual Results

Level 4 (Age 8)

Lindsey Campbell had an all-around of 36.1 (1st place); she scored a 9.50 (1st) on vault, 8.65 (2nd) on bars, 8.65 (2nd) on beam and 9.30 (2nd) on floor.

Megan White had an all-around of 34.9 (2nd place); she scored an 8.70 (9th) on vault, 8.70 (1st) on bars, 8.25 (5th) on beam and 9.25 (3rd) on floor.

Level 4 (Age 10)

Cloe Rivest had an all-around of 36.60 (4th place); she scored a 9.65 (1st) on vault, 8.55 (11th) on bars, 9.3 (2nd) on beam and 9.10 (9th) on floor.

Level 7 (ages 7-11)

Jenna Hantula had an all-around score of 34.550 (2nd place). She scored a 8.90 (3rd) on vault, a 8.00 (2nd) on bars, an 8.45 (2nd) on beam and a 9.20 (2nd) on floor.

Devon Rossier had an all-around score of 16.850(4th). She scored a 9.05 (2nd) on vault and a 7.80 on bars.

Level 7 (Ages 12-14)

Emmie White had an all-around score of 34.400(4th place). She scored a 9.275(4th) on vault, an 8.15 (3tie) on bars, an 8.075 on beam and an 8.90(4tie) on floor.

Olivia Bouthot had an all-around score of 33.525(5th place). She scored an 8.525 on vault, an 8.15 (3rd tie) on bars, an 8.125 on beam and an 8.725(6th) on floor.

Kyra Rivest had an all-around score of 33.375 (6th place). She scored a 9.25(5th) on vault, a 6.85 on bars, an 8.575(4th) on beam and an 8.70 on floor.

Maddie Campano had an all-around score of 33.10(7th place). She scored a 9.10 pn vault, a 7.00 on bars, an 8.55(6th) on beam and an 8.45 on floor.

Abby Fitzpatrick had an all-around score of 32.850(8th place). She scored a 9.00(5th) on vault, a 7.40(6th) on bars, a 7.45 on beam and a 9.00(2nd) on floor.

Level 8 (Ages 8-11)

Isabel Pearson had an All Around score of 34.35 (2nd); She scored 8.40 (2nd) on vault, 8.25 on bars, 9.05 (1st) on beam and 8.65 (2nd) on floor.

Level 9 (Age 17-plus)

Taylor Christiansen had an All Around score of 32.525 (1st); She scored an 8.80 on vault, 7.40 on bars, 8.025 on beam and 8.30 on floor.

Level 10 (Ages 15-16)

Megan Middlemiss had an All Around score of 33.325 (1st); She scored an 8.70 on vault, 7.55 on bars, 8.425 on beam and 8.65 on floor.

Valley Hockey League

SQUIRTS: Cavaliers 9,
Amesbury 1

The Cavaliers Squirt 2 team beat Amesbury, Mass., 9-1 in Valley Hockey League action.

The Cavs got the scoring started with 4:04 left in the first period when Kevin Sullivan took a pass from Sal Vella and buried it for a 1-0 lead. The second goal of the period came with 2:51 left in the period coming off the stick of Ty Soule, as he received a great pass off the faceoff win from Vella. The second period opened up with a quick goal by Amesbury just two minutes in. That would be the end of the scoring for Amesbury as Hollis got great back checking from Liam Hovey, while defenseman Clayton Thomas and goalie Nik DiRenzo would shut down the Amesbury offense the rest of the way.

Hollis responded with a great feed from Mathew Hinspeter and Vella as they set up Soule for his second goal of the game. Hollis was relentless in the offensive zone when Ryan McInnis fought his way through traffic to find the back of the net with 3:44 remaining in the period. The second period scoring would end at the 57-second mark as Soule recorded a hat trick this time with McInnis getting the helper.

The third period started with Soule recording his fourth goal three minutes in, unassisted. Kevin Sullivan would get his second goal of the day just 34 seconds later putting Hollis up 7-1.

McInnis would light the lamp for a second time as he took a pass from Soule and scored on a great one-timer. Jacob Roy would finish up the scoring with 50 seconds left in the game helping Hollis to improve its record to 7-2-1.

SQUIRTS: Cavaliers 7, Lynn 1

The Hollis Cavaliers Squirt 2 team skated to a 7-1 win over Lynn, Mass., in Tewksbury. The Cavs played well at both ends of the ice lead by the defensive duo of Clayton Thomas and Kevin Sullivan. Nik Direnzo got his fifth win in net for the Cavaliers. Jacob Roy scored once in the first period with an unassisted goal. Sal Vella and Ty Soule each recorded a hat trick to lead the scoring. Ryan McInnis, Liam Hovey and Matthew Hinspeter each racked up assists and Hinspeter helped seal the deal with some nifty stick handling to kill off the last few seconds of the game. The Squirt 2 Team improved their regular season record to 6-1-1.

MITES: Hollis Cavaliers 7,
Masconomet 2

The Cavaliers, behind goaltender Chase Devins beat division leading Masconomet 7-2.

Sal D’Amico started the scoring late in the first period, coming out from behind the Masco net and putting a backhander right by the blocker of Masco’s goalie.

Masco would try to tie it up on a breakaway only to be denied by a spectacular Devins save. Michael Spinazzola, D’Amico and Karenna Beckstein continued the pressure in the offensive zone ending the first period.

Up 1-0 the line of Jesse Gertz, Stephen Toom and Will Dodge pressured down low in Masco’s end, Toom scored off a rebound assisted by Gertz. The Cavaliers Defense of Evan Doughty and Jack MacEachen kept the Masco threats out of the offensive end with great puck control off the boards. Will Dodge and Toom would combine again late in the period to put the Cavs up 3-0.

Third period action stared with Kelci Waters, D’Amico and Karenna Beckstein moving the puck into the Neutral zone.

Beckstein’s stick handled past the defense planting her shot, lifting the Cavs to a 4-0. Masco came right back with a two on none breakout. Devins stood his ground and once again rejected Masco a goal. The defense of Jake Dodge, Patrick Sehulster and Matthew D’Ortona stepped up keeping the puck in the neutral zone. Will Dodge would go end to end for his second of his three goal game unassisted. Gertz scored at 3:18 of the third with shear hustle to knock in a rebound off a Will Dodge shot, putting the Cavs up 7-0. Masco did not quit and scored two late goals ending the game 7-2.

PEE WEE: Cavaliers split vs. Wakefield, Waltham

The Southern New Hampshire Cavaliers continue to turn in a strong team performance going 1-1 this weekend. In their first match-up the Cavs displayed excellent play at both ends of the ice, but came up short in a 2-0 loss to the Wakefield Warriors.

Defensemen Alec MacEachen, Max Porter, Sean Kelly and Isaac Rogers did a tremendous job shutting done Wakefield as soon as they crossed the blue line. While Cavs goalie Ben Goolsby was strong between the pipes keeping the game close, the forwards – T.J. Vitullo, Max Sears, Nic Miller, Joe Roth, Austin Ciszek, Damien Barahona – continued to display great puck control in the offensive zone, but could not get one past a tough Wakefield goalie.

In the second game, the Cavs downed the previously undefeated Waltham Hawks 4-3, turning in another outstanding team performance.

Isaac Rogers opened the scoring for the Cavs just over a minute into the game. However, the Hawks tied it up as the first period ended. Rogers netted his second early in the second to put the Cavs up 2-1, but the Hawks quickly tied the game back up. The Cavs netted two more in the second to take the 4-2 lead. Damien Barahona picked up a nice rebound shot by T.J. Vitullo that rocketed off the cross bar, while moments later Nic Miller netted what would be the game-winner.

The final period was a battle for puck control, with both teams taking numerous penalties. Cavs defensemen Nick Gould, Max Porter, Sean Kelly, Alec MacEachen and goalie Ben Goolsby worked well to contain the Hawks, while forwards Austin Ciszek, Max Sears, Joe Roth, Vitullo, Barahona and Rogers did a tremendous job killing a number of penalties. The team displayed outstanding composure playing two men down for nearly two minutes at the end of the game.

Kids Run Free Program
begins New Year’s Day with Millennium Mile in Londonderry

Millennium Running founder John Mortimer received a long-term commitment to the Millennium Running Kids Run Free program. As a natural extension of their service to the community, Student Transportation of America will be guaranteeing the program with a three-year financial commitment to sponsor the initiative.

“This program is aimed at getting kids and families off the couch to exercise together,” Mortimer said. “We hope this starts to put a dent in childhood obesity and inspires families to be more healthy together.”

The Kids Run Free program provides free admission to kids 11 years of age and under, as well as providing free shirts and other benefits. STA has also generously signed on to be the official transportation provider of Millennium Running, in this role they will be providing shuttle services for participants at several Millennium Running events.

STA is very proud to be a part of such a positive program that will allow the younger generation to take advantage of these fun and healthy running events.

The Kids Run Free program started in 2012 with the generous support of MVP Health Care and their Generation Go kids wellness program. The initiative became an instant success as more than 3,000 kids had the opportunity to participate in Millennium Running Signature Events at no cost in 2012.

The Kids Run Free program gives families a great incentive to participate together in a healthy, active and fun event. Millennium Running has designed events with promoting healthy family fun as the top priority.

These nine signature events range in distance from just 1-mile, 3k, 2-miles, 3-miles, 5k, 5-miles and up to 10 miles. A full list of events is available at
