Seven Nashua Elks Soccer Shoot champions competed in the 2012 New Hampshire Elks Soccer Shoot Championship Competition in Franklin on Oct. 13th. They returned to Nashua with four state titles, one runner-up and two third-place trophies.

Gabe Buxton, 10, won the Boys U12 Grid championship, 12-year-old Jacob Pike won the Boys U14 title and 5-year-old Noah Kapopoulos won the Boys U8 five-goal crown. Noah’s 7-year-old sister Alexandria Kapopoulos won the Girls U8 five-Goal Championship, while 11-year-old Katie Paquette finished with runner-up honors in the U12 Girls Division.

Nashua 9-year-olds Eliot Mason and Sophie Fechke finished up with the third place trophy in their respective U10 five-goal divisions, which were won by Miles Lavoie of Rochester and Miranda Gosselin of Claremont. Ariel Vincent of Claremont won the U12 Girls Grid title and Erin Lawlor of Derry/Salem won the U14 Girls Division.

The highlight of the day was the presentations by State Elks President George Lapan, of Lebanon, with the coveted “Golden Boot” trophies to the highest scorer in the Grid-Goal competition, Buxton, and the coveted Five-Goal competition, Rochester 9-year-old Miles Lavoie.

The Elks served hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and cold drinks to everyone in attendance.

The eight 2012 New Hampshire State Soccer Shoot champions will now travel to Smithfield, R.I., the weekend of Nov. 2-4 to compete with the other five New England champions and New York champions for the Elks 2012 Area One Regional Soccer Shoot Championship.
