Cal Ripken: Nashua South U11 finishes 3-1 in Kitterbridge Memorial Tournament

Nashua South finished strong in the Kitterbridge Memorial Tournament, leaving Rochester with a 3-1 mark following a 15-5 win over Barrington in the final game.

The offense was led by timely hitting from Seth Bridge, Owen Mooso and Brennan Auriana.

Game three saw South taking on defending State Champion Dover, and falling 5-3. Nashua was competitive, however, hanging in there with the score tied 3-3 heading into the fifth inning. But a pair of runs by Dover was too much for South to handle.

Zach Finkelstein’s three shutout innings and six strikeouts led the way for Nashua in its 10-5 win over Exeter.

Finkelstein was also a factor at the plate, going 3 for 3 with a home run. Sam Malinaggi and Andrew Penkala also added hits of their own.

South made a major statement in its opening game of the tournament, rolling through Quintown 10-1.

Kavim Bhatnagar’s three shutout innings helped key the victory, while Stephen McLendon and Chris Haley had two hits apiece to lead the offense.

Nashua will be hosting the 11-year-old Cal Ripken New England Regional Tournament August 4-10 at Dube Field in Nashua. State champions from all the New England states will compete for the New England Regional Championship.
