NPF hosts 16 teams in Flag Football Super Bowl IV

On Saturday, October 22nd the Nashua PAL FORCE Flag Football program played host to NH’s Biggest Flag Super Bowl ever. Nearly 200 flag players from across the state showed up from 8 different associations with Nashua having the most dominant presence with over 50 players representing the FORCE. In front of a near capacity crowd of over 500 spectators, 29 different Nashua players notched 34 touchdowns on the day and all players received trophies and a motivational chat from North Titans Varsity Head Coach Jason Robie and his football captains.

NPF YELLOW: The NPF Yellow squad played it even with a win, a tie and a loss behind TDs from Aidan McLaughlin, Michael Jigarjian, Cam Prangley and Bobby Canaway. Chris Prangley, Zavier Francis and Jeremiah Levesque throttled the D all day while Charley Mewkill, Johnny Canaway and Maurice L’Heureux played physically on the line from start to finish.

NPF GREEN: The NPF Green squad won the season clincher behind an offensive arsenal second to none with TDs scored by Dmitri Moreno, Luke Peters, Caeden Sheahan, Toby Brown, Jack Peters, Nick Digesse and Cody Morton. Defensively NPF Green was stingy all day behind the ripping and tearing of flags led by Drew Sheehan and Tyler Girouard.

NPF WHITE: The NPF White team closed the season on a high note with a crushing victory behind slashing TD runs by JJ “Jailbreak” Allen, Severen Johnson, Trent Jackson and Derek Finlay. On the defensive side of the ball the trio of Ben Mullett, Austin Spooner and Cody Goode made running inside impossible while Zaeden Crocker, Zach Proulx, Nathan Ruiter and Bailey Landsteiner shut down the corners.

NPF RED: The NPF Red squad played tough all day with daunting run by Reid Lavoie and John Barry and scoring plays from Devyn Lavoie, Brady Sullivan and Ariyan Cora behind the physical line play of Jake O’Connor and Derek Schlupf. The sackmaster. David Simpson, was back in action with his partners Jayce Cora and Luke Smiley making it tough on the offense from the first to last play.

NPF BLUE: The NPF Blue squad played flawless all day going undefeated running their record to a state best 11-1 while giving up only 4 Tds in 3 games and ringing up 12 TDs from The Ryanator, DevilDAWG, Crush, Cho-Cho-Charlie, Wheels, Tom Terrific, Bullet Train, The Lion, Rhino & The Rocket.

3rd Grade: NPF vs. Salem

Robby Long picked his way through the Salem defense for a touchdown. Max Ackermann, Logan Mattewson, Andrew Barry and Chris McQuinn carried the ball with a slashing running style. Opening the way up the field with fine blocking techniques were Aiden Bashor, Edwin Gonzales, Jessy Allen, Shaun Marion, Alex Forbes, Lucas Dalomba and Christian Ayala.

Neo Helin and Matt Oliver delivered the hits on defense with Chris Acevedo making an acrobatic interception that thrilled the NPF faithful.

5th Grade: NPF 19, Windham 7

NPF travelled up to Windham to secure a well played road victory. Austin Quellette kicked it into high gear for a 40-yard TD run. JJ Fiore and Jordan Bodwell both popped into the endzone for TDs. Tyler Gagnon rounded out he scoring with an extra point. Griffin Dane, Donovan Labate, Andy Deutschlander and Colton Welch provided nice holes with outstanding blocking. An opportunistic NPF defense collected an interception by James MacKenzie, Michael Gillespie (return kick recovery) and Aidan Gillis pounced on an onside kick. Matthew Hallahan and Tyler Desrochers contributed with several tackles.

6th Grade: Salem 29, NPF 0

AJ Mele played a solid game at QB against an aggressive Salem defense. Holding down the fort on defense with solid tackling were Alex White, Troy Bottari and Paul Murtaugh. Showing leadership and grit in the face of a quick Salem offense were Eric Poublon and Schyler Boykin with several hard hits.

NPF Middle School Varsity: Salem tops NPF at Stellos

The NPF JV squad suffered a tough loss to the undefeated Salem Rams.

Trey Legraw, Finn Littlefield and Mason Dane put forth a solid effort on the line. Gerardo Sanchez, Max Fay, Levi Gosselin and Enrique Alvarez played well Defensively. NPF struggled offensively, but Fay, Gosselin, Alvarez and Jared Levsque played their hearts out against a formidable Salem defense.

Nashua Elks Crusaders

5th grade: NEC 20, Hudson 7

The Nashua Crusaders defeated the Hudson Bears in a hard fought game.

The victory was Nashua’s fifth consecutive (5-2) and was pivotal in solidifying the team’s playoff chances. The Bears had the early momentum and were poised for a quick score; however, the Nashua defense held firm and received a big play from Tanner Plourde, who forced a fumble on the goal line.

In the second quarter, Nashua took back momentum and scored first on a fantastic run by Brendon Frost, and an extra point keeper from quarterback Andrew Penkala. However, Hudson responded with a score of their own, and both teams went into the half tied 7-7. The score remained tied entering the fourth quarter, and most expected overtime; however, Nashua’s Jeffrey Reza and the Nashua offense had different plans, as Reza scored two touchdowns and received an extra point run from Jake Robbins to break the score open and secure the victory.

The Nashua offense received big games from Jaylan Pacheco, Gabe Perrault, Tige McNulty, Reza, Frost, and Penkala. The Crusader line was once again stellar and received solid blocking from Braden McDonnell, Nathanial Tejeda, Brandon Martin, Max Sheperd, and Plourde.

As the score indicates, the Crusaders’ defense played well all game. The Elks received multiple tackles from Pacheco, McDonnell, Reza and Allan Godfrey.

The team also received big plays from Plourde (forced fumble), Frost (two interceptions), Penkala (fumble recovery), and Robbins (fumble recovery). Additionally, the defense also received solid efforts from Cole Desmond, Jason Messier, Sheperd and Martin.

Nashua’s special teams also had a big day and received strong performances from Sheperd (kicking) and tackles from Penkala and Plourde.

Cheerleaders strong at Bedford competition

The Nashua PAL Force cheerleaders performed in The Season Premier Spirit Competition hosted at Bedford High School on Oct. 22.

NPF’s Division 15 team took first place, Division 13 finished second and Division 8 in third.

NPF Spirit Division 15 includes: Morganne MacKay, Illiana Vidal, Alexandra Thompson, Anisha Canto, Allie Krueger, Holly Burns, Sarah Roscoe, Sarah Cardullo, Sammantha Willard, Mariah Vitali, Katelyn Winslow, Brianna Lyon, Byanna Griffin, Torrey Grady, Carmen Butler, Kelsey Larkin, Kaleigh Dozois,Gina Buzzetta and Celine Corricelli.

NPF Spirit Division 13 includes: Abigail Trulock, Alexis Alexis, Caitlyn McNamara, Elisabeth Carroll, Emily Guilbeault, Emily Hamilton, Emily Sanford, Gabby Belanger, Isabelle Gosselin, Isabelle Sheeler, Kayla Boucher, Kelsi Cora, Kiara Francis , Lauren Grabeau, Lexi LaFontaine, Madison Brooks, Madison Wynne, Marissa Trombly, Mary Michaud, Miguel Morales, Samantha Hovey, Samantha O’Loughlin, Sara Hynson, Sara Lemos, Sascha Silvia and Sierah Miles.

NPF Spirit Division 8 includes: Emily Wynne, Grace Brooks, Aylssa Stanyon, Mardy Novak, Kaylene Silva, Arianna Virella, Jaiden Ackerman, Ella O’Neill-Pitary, Hannah Thompson, Lily Langlois, Gwen Grondin, Kaylee Miller, Kalise Moore, Erika Long, Ellie Jamieson, Nevaeh Spence, Adrian Kuilan and Kelcy Acevedo.Also competing was NPF Spirit Division 10, which includes: Kalynn Allen, Elizabeth Klayton, Allison Anderson, Jorda Kuilan, Vanessa Ault, Halee Mele, Angelique Ayala, Julianna Moreno, Paige Borromeo, Olivia Morris, Paige Brook, Lauren Oliver, Samantha DiGesse, Nicole Russell, Kendall Dwyer Madelaine Simpson, Gwendolyn Fabri, Haley Stanton, Chantal Finlay,Nichole Valencia Aaliyah Forman, Madison Winnett, Summer Gingras-Gagnon, Alyssa Gonzalez, Tianna Grave, Alexandria Griffin, Lauren Grondin, Nova Helin and Kaylie Keegan.

HOCKEY

Nashua Mite I wins four

The Nashua Panthers Mite I’s had a busy week with four wins to stay undefeated in the Valley League.

The Panthers traveled to Wilmington and handed them a 6-0 loss. Dominic Carozza lead the team with 2 goals, Sean Morrissey, Joey Pillsbury, Brooke Yabroudy and Daniel Woodford all added a goal in the winning effort. Dylan Troiano recorded his first shutout of the year.

In the night cap, Nashua took on Wakefield and beat them 7-3 with Carozza leading the way with 3 goals and an assist. Sebastian Zeman added 2 goals with Morrissey and Pillsbury rounding off the scoring. Brain Chisholm added an assist in the game but his strong defensive play helped shut down the Chief’s offense.

On Sunday, the team hosted Beverly and kept up their aggressive fore checking style lead by Sam Clauson that helped them to a 5-2 victory. Yabroudy lead the way with three goals and an assist with Brandon Rheaume and Carozza closing out the scoring.

In the final game of the weekend, the Panthers played unbeaten Masco and came out of the hard forth game with a 6-3 win. Nashua came out flying and kept up the high tempo game that wore Masco down in the end. Matt Licata and Carozza both kept crashing the net and helped the Panthers with both scoring 2 goals each. Corey Girouard added a goal and 2 assists, Troiano added 2 key helpers and Clauson closed out the scoring in the 3rd period to seal the victory. This moves the team to 10-0 in the Valley League.

WRESTLING

Youth wrestling clinics set for November

The Boys and Girls Club of Greater Nashua (BGCGN) will kick off the youth wrestling season by holding two Saturday morning wrestling clinics on Nov. 5 and 12 from 9-11:30 a.m. at the Boys and Girls Club on 47 Grand Ave. Boys and girls in kindergarten-8th grade are invited. No experience necessary. Open to non-members of the Boys and Girls Club and residents of surrounding towns. $10 fee covers both clinics. T-shirt provided to each participant. Those who wish to continue after the clinics may participate on BGCGN’s youth wrestling teams during its winter season. Joining the coaching staff this season are former high school coach (Nashua, Trinity, BG) Kurt Rowlette and current North High School coach Jeff Arbogast. Nashua/Hudson middle school teams holding sign-ups

Wrestling teams operated by the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Nashua at Nashua’s three public middle schools and Hudson Memorial Mifddle School are signing up students now for a November start. Practices are held at-school, after school, and teams compete in the interschlastic Tri-County Middle School Athletic League. Open to boys and girls in grades 6-8. No experience necessary. Fairgrounds students should see Mr. Lauria or Mr. Pinault. Elm St. students should see Principal Mike Fredericksen. Pennichuck Students should see Mr. Arbogast. Crusaders tryouts in Dec., Jan.

The New England Crusaders, the only Nike sponsored girls’ basketball club in New England, is holding tryouts for its 5th and 6th grade teams on December 17, 2011 and January 7, 2012 from 8:00 to 9:30am at the Manchester Boys & Girls Club at 555 Union St. in Manchester. The Crusaders have teams at all age levels from 5th through 11th grade. Tryout fees are $20 and each participant must be registered with the AAU in order to participate.
