Cavs Squirt I win three

In Valley League action the Cavaliers Squirt I notched three big wins over the Columbus Day weekend.

In Game 1, Wakefield tied the game late in the third period, but a Cavs line shift – putting Isaac Rogers, Max Sears and TJ Vitullo together – paid off when Vitullo beat the Wakefield goalie high on the stick-side with 59 seconds left to secure the win.

Rogers and Vitullo each had two goals, while Austin Ciszek netted a goal on a beautiful pass from David Wang.

In Game 2, the Cavs beat Melrose 11-0. Vitullo (four goals), Ciszek (three goals), Brandon Hugh (two goals) and Rogers (two goals) led the offense. Max Sears had four assists and goalie Chris Sullivan recorded his first shutout of the season.

In the final game of the holiday weekend, the Cavs beat Reading 10-0. The Cavs front line of Ciszek (five goals), Hugh (two assists) and Wang (one goal, two assists) paced the offense.

Rogers added three goals of his own and Sears recorded one.

The Cavs defensive unit played exceptionally well pinning the Reading team in their defensive zone most of the game. Goalie Ben Goolsby recorded the shutout for the Cavs.

Nashua PAL Force

Flag: NPF Red 14, NPF Green 14

The first half saw Red quarterback Devyn Lavoie drive the team down the field with running back Derek Schlupf scoring a touchdown.

Green’s Nicolas Digesse rumbled back behind the blocking of Luke Peters, Dmitri Moreno and Tyler Girouard.

Red’s defense stood strong with Jayce Cora and Brady Sullivan notching a series of tackles and sacks.

Green got on the scoreboard again in the second half with Drew Sheehan putting it in the end zone.

Red’s defense once again stood strong with David Simpson, Jack Hamblett, Ariyan Cora and John Barry swarming the ball. Red running back Reid Lavoie tied the game up with a long run for a touchdown. Red mounted another attack by RB Jake O’Connor on long runs but Greeen’s Jack Peters and Toby Brown wouldn’t give up the touchdown.

Flag: NPF Blue 28, NPF Yellow 14

Blue opened up the game with a TD pass from QB Patrick Keegan to slot receiver PJ Costa. Yellow fought back strong behind the evasive running of RB Xavier Francis and devastating blocking of Maurice L’Heureux and Aidan McLaughlin. QB Ryan Forcier drove Blue down the field with RB Lorenzo Abreu punching it into the end zone behind the blocking of Dylan McDermott and Thomas Laurendi. C Cam Prangley provided the assist to his brother QB Chris Prangley for Yellow’s second touchdown while OT Michael Jigarjian and Bobby Canaway cleared the way. The running attack of QB Jeremiah Levesque and RB Johnny Canaway picked up steam late in the half until CB Peter Wilson & DT Samuel Marshall shut them down. QB Charlie Bellavance took over on offense and rumbled in for a Blue score while QB Lorenzo Abreu notched his second touchdown on the day.

Flag: NorRock Vikings 21, NPF White 7

Defensively the line play of DT Ben Mullett, DT Severen Johnson and NG Cody Goode menaced the Vikings all game. QB Austin Spooner drove White the distance of the field for White’s lone score on the day behind gaping holes opened up by Nathan Ruiter and Jayden Allen. CB Derek Finlay and CB Trent Jackson shut down the passing lanes for NorRock while LB Zach Proulx buoyed the middle. The QB rotation of Zaeden Crocker, Bailey Landsteiner and Ben Mullett kept the game close in the second half

NPF 3rd Grade: NPF beats Man. East

Robby Long had two rushing TD’s and an extra point conversion. Andrew Barry had two receptions from Robby Long and he ran both in for TD’s and Logan Mathewson had a rushing TD. Max Ackerman, Zach Howard and Chris Acevedo also had some nice runs.

Neo Helin, Christian Ayala, Aiden Bashor, Edwin Gonzales and Jessy Allen all had strong day on the line. Robby Long had two interceptions that he ran back for TD’s and Shaun Marion, Zach Howard, Lucas Dalomba, Isaiah Berry, Chris McQuinn and Matt Oliver played tough defense.

NPF 5th Grade: Man. East 12, NPF 0

Tyler Gagnon, Colton Welch and Austin Ouellette battled a hot sun while leading the offensive charge against the Manchester Cobras.

Stepping up and stopping several scoring drives with a “gut check” defense were Jordan Bodwell(blocked extra point), James Heitmuller, JJ Fiore, Nate Nugent and James MacKenzie.

NPF 6th Grade: NPF 18, Milford Mustangs 0

In the shadow of legendary Holman Stadium, Randall Jenkins rushed for 2 touchdowns with elusive, well balanced runs. Schyler Boykin wove his way for six points scampering his way past the Milford defense. Antony Costa gained crucial yard at each touchdown drive. Plowing the way up front with outstanding blocking were Alex White and Matt Franco. Defensive laurels go to Paul Murtaugh, CJ Grondin, Ellias Martin, Paul Smith and Eric Poublon for pitching the season’s first shut out.

NPF Middle School JV: NPF 16, Man. East 14

NPF was powered by touchdowns from Enrique Alvarez and Max Fay.

Two-point conversions were scored by Levi Gosselin and Jared Levesque. Trey LeGraw was a dominating force on both offense and defense, and pass blocking was superb thanks to the offensive line, including Finn Littlefield and Mason Dane. Defensive standouts included Sam Mena, taking down several runners. The entire NPF JV squad came together to pull off this win, with a great effort put forth by all.

Nashua Elks Crusaders

Crusaders 13, Salem Rams 6

In their best all-around game of the season, the Crusaders defeated the Salem Rams for their third consecutive win, and improved to 3-2.

The game remained scoreless through the first half, thanks to the Salem defense, as the Crusaders had two drives end in the red zone. However, in the second half Nashua responded behind the running of Brendon Frost and Jeffrey Reza. Frost scored Nashua’s first touchdown in the third quarter on a tough interior run through Salem’s line, and capped off the drive with an extra point run. The Crusaders scored again in the 4th quarter, this time on a trick pass from Reza out of the backfield to a releasing Jake Robbins. The Rams’ defense held tough and stopped Jaylan Pacheco’s attempt at the extra point.

The Nashua offense played well and received other great efforts from quarterback Andrew Penkala, Gabe Perrault (2 receptions), and Pacheco.

Additionally, Alex Fortier and Tige McNulty made critical blocks from their tightend and wide receiver positions, respectively.

The Nashua offensive line protected Penkala all game and opened holes for the Nashua running backs and were led by Brandon Martin, Max Sheperd, and Braden McDonnell.

The Crusaders defense was more than solid and answered the bell in the fourth quarter when Salem threatened to tie the game with only seconds remaining. The Crusaders’ defense was led by Pacheco, Frost, Penkala, Martin, and Robbins (2 fumble recoveries).

Also collecting tackles throughout the game were Tanner Plourde, Allan Godfrey, Cole Desmond (fumble recovery), Nathaniel Tejada, Jason Messier, and McDonnell.

Finally, in the third phase of the game, special teams, the Elks also excelled and received big games from Sheperd (kickoffs), Reza (kick return), Penkala (punt fumble recovery), and Plourde (kickoff coverage).
