Nashua Northwest Cal Ripken open for online sign-ups
Nashua Northwest Baseball, a division of Cal Ripken Baseball, is now accepting online registrations for the 2011 Fall Ball season. Log on to www.nashuanw.org and follow the instructions to register. All levels from T-Ball to Step-Up for those players making the jump to the Babe Ruth level in the spring. Registration is open only to families in the 03063 zip code.

Amherst Soccer Club (open to players from any town) is now accepting registrations for boys and girls ages U3 through U10 for this coming fall Tots and Early Development Program (EDP). NHSA tryouts
New Hampshire Olympic Development Program is holding tryouts for the 2012 ODP season at the NEAC fields located at 326 Buck St. in Suncook. All participants should arrive prepared to play with water, shin guards and a soccer ball. Tryouts for U15, U16 and U17s will take place on Sept. 18 from 1-3 p.m. Registration starts at noon with a parent meeting at 1:15. For more information, visit www.soccernh.com. MYA to hold meeting, election
Merrimack Youth Association Baseball will hold its annual meeting and eletion on Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. at the MYA Building. All are welcome to attend the annual state-of-the-program address. There will also be elections for the following positions: president, two vice presidents, secretary and four player representatives. An equipment manager for the upcoming season is also needed. Biddy coaches, officials needed
The Nashua Parks and Recreation Department is looking for coaches and referees for the 2011 Biddy Basketball season. Coaching positions are on a volunteer basis with requirements including an understanding of the game and ability to teach the fundamentals to children in a recreational atmosphere. Coaches are being sought for the following age groups: Boys Junior Biddy Division (ages 7-9) and Boys Bantam Division (13-15). Referees are being sought for all age divisions. Requirements include a thorough understanding of the rules of basketball and the ability to run the court. This is a paid position. Games run Monday-Friday evenings and Saturday days. Referees need to be 18 years of age or older. Contact the Recreation Department at 589-3370 for an application for both positions or stop by the Recreation Office at Greeley Park from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
Coaches wanted for BBL
The Bedford Basketball League is seeking enthusiastic, caring, and knowledgeable coaches for its 2011-12 travel program. The travel program is designed for the more serious and dedicated player in grades 3-8, and will consist of 12 teams total – one boys and one girls team for each grade level. The travel program runs from November through February. Typical weekly sessions include one practice and up to two games per week, in addition to the Bedford Jamboree in mid-November. Away games involve programs in towns throughout southern New Hampshire, and perhaps northern Massachusetts.
Travel coach responsibilities include running the evaluations and collaborating with the BBL Board of Directors on team composition, teaching individual and team-age appropriate fundamentals, communicating effectively with parents and the BBL Board, and practice and game management.

IAABO holding Apprentice Class
The International Association of Approved Basketball Officials (IAABO) Metro Board 117 is seeking interested basketball officials for its entry level apprentice program. Classes begin on Monday, Sept. 12 at 6:30 p.m. at Alvirne High School in Hudson. Classes will run on consecutive Mondays, culminating in a written test in November and floor test in February 2012. Successful candidates will be certified by IAABO and eligible to referee high school basketball games in New Hampshire. The cost of the school is $100, which includes a rule book, instruction and computer software.

The Souhegan Valley Tournament Association is hosting Open-Pit Night every Wednesday from 5 p.m. to dusk through Sept. 28 at SVTA/Riley Field, 40 Christmas Tree Lane in Milford. Softball
Men’s league looking for players
The Merrimack Men’s Slo-Pitch Softball League is looking for players to fill out its team rosters for the current season. The league currently plays on Monday and Wednesday evenings through mid-September at Martel and Twardosky fields in Merrimack. Game times are between 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
To be eligible to join the league, men must be at least 18 years of age, be out of high school and must either live or work in Merrimack.
