Cal Ripken World Series: Hudson posts first victory
Hudson’s All Stars picked up their first win of the in the pool play portion of the Cal Ripken World Series on Tuesday night, topping the Maryland state champs, 4-3.
Down 3-1 in the fifth, Maryland rallied with a triple by infielder Ryan Oglesby, followed by an RBI double from teammate Bryce Nicolau. Nicolau eventually scored on a passed ball to tie the game at 3-3.
But the New England regional champs retook the lead by scoring on a balk, which would be the final run of the game. New England pitcher Dean LaMothe threw a complete game with 10 strikeouts, five hits and three runs scored.
Jacen Hudson had two hits and scored a pair of runs for Hudson. Michael Simard had a hit and drove in two runs while Stephen Berry had a hit and drove in a run.
Hudson plays again this afternoon against the Pacific Northwest Regional champs.
