Milford 9’s finish 5th in New England

The Milford 9 year old All-Stars received a motivating send off from Governor John Lynch at the State House in Concord last week after earning a spot in the Cal Ripken Regional Tournament in Bethel, Conn. Milford did its community proud by finishing fifth in New England.

While in Connecticut, the players were able to meet Boston Red Sox 2011 first round pick Matt Barnes, ESPN analyst Bobby Valentine and create many fond memories.

Members of the 2011 Milford 9-year-old All-Stars were: Kolbe Heiple, Austin Hiscoe, Sean Miles, Daniel Trzepacz, Max Fortin, Brett Anderson, Parker Mabbett, Isaac Rogers, Trevor Coyne, Aiden Daudier, Nathan Gagnon, James Gillis and bat boy Luke Anderson. The team was coached by Ryan Anderson, Rob Heiple, Randy Fortin and Gifford Hiscoe.

Two locals make NHSA Region 1 team

The NHSA/U.S. Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program, a national identification and development program designed to identify and develop top youth soccer players throughout the country to represent their state association, region and the United States in soccer competition, has named its New Hampshire team for the Region 1 pool for the 2011 ODP season.

Locals making the cut were Hollis’ Sydney Brackett (1997 Region 1 Pool) and Nashua’s Tim Closson (1996 Region 1 Pool).
