Nashua Northwest Cal Ripken open for online sign-ups
Nashua Northwest Baseball, a division of Cal Ripken Baseball, is now accepting online registrations for the 2011 Fall Ball season. Log on to www.nashuanw.org and follow the instructions to register. The Fall season is geared towards extra practices and fewer games to provide more in-depth instruction to those players that would like to fine tune their skills in the off season. We offer all levels from T-Ball up to and including Step-Up for those players making the jump to the Babe Ruth level in the Spring. Our participants are guaranteed to play on teams with their friends and classmates as our registration is open only to families in the 03063 zip code.
NH Grizzlies AAU tryouts on Aug. 21
The NH Grizzlies AAU Baseball Club will be holding 2012 open tryouts on Sunday, Aug. 21 at The Southern NH University Baseball Field in Manchester. The Grizzlies are looking to fill select positions on all three of their teams. Registration begins at 10 a.m. There is a tryout fee of $35.

TSBA Showcase tryouts at Holman Aug. 20, 27
The Show Baseball Academy, run by former Boston Red Sox catcher Steve Lomasney, will be holding free tryouts at Holman Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 20 from 3-8 p.m. (U12 3-4:30; 13,14 and U15 4:30-6:30; and 16,17 and U18 6:30-8) and Saturday, Aug. 27 from noon-6 p.m. (U12 noon-1:30; 13,14 and U15 2-4; 13,14 and U15 2-4; and U16,U17 and U18 4-6). NHSA tryouts start Aug. 24
New Hampshire Olympic Development Program i sholding tryouts for the 2012 ODP season at the NEAC fields located at 326 Buck St. in Suncook. The inclusion of a team for U12 girls is a new addition to the program for the coming season. All participants should arrive prepared to play with water, shin guards and a soccer ball. Tryouts for the girls and boys U12, U13 and U14s will be held on Aug. 24 from 6-8 p.m. Registration will start at 5 and there will be a brief parents meeting at 6:15. Tryouts for U15, U16 and U17s will take place on Sept. 18 from 1-3 p.m. Registration starts at noon with a parent meeting at 1:15. For more information, visit www.soccernh.com. Hornets ASA tryouts Aug. 20-21
The New England Hornets ASA girls fast pitch softball program for players from northern New England who want to play top level softball is holding tryouts on Aug. 20 and 21 to add players to the returning core teams for the 2011-12 season. Tryouts at Selvoski Field in Bedford (off County Road behind the tennis courts) will take place both days from 8-9:30 a.m. for U14 (birth dates on or after 1/1/1997) and 9:30-11 for U12 (birth dates on or after 1/1/1999). Players should arrive 30 minutes early to register and warm up. Milford Sliders tryout on Aug. 27
The Milford Sliders U14 ASA program will be holding tryouts for the 2012 season on Aug. 27 from 9-11 a.m. at Keyes Field in Milford. The U14 Sliders is a new team forming with practices to be held throughout the winter and spring in preparation for the 2012 summer tournament season. BGCGN K-8 camp set for Aug. 19-21
The Boys and Girls Club of Greater Nashua is offering a summer wrestling camp Aug. 19-21 for children in kindergarten through eighth grade. Rookies and experienced wrestlers are welcome and will be challenged at appropriate levels. This is a great camp for the beginner who would like to take the step to the next level and it is also a perfect platform for the more experienced wrestler to improve their skills.
Featured coaches include Nashua High School South varsity wrestling coach Adam Langlois, Bishop Guertin varsity coach Paul Rousseau, Elm Street Middle School coach Herb Bennett and Gate City Wrestling Club coach Kris Rowlette – a New England high school champion and Division I collegiate wrestler. The camp runs Friday through Sunday (Aug. 19-21) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
A $50 registration fee covers wrestling instruction and drilling, live wrestling (if desired) lunch daily, games, swimming and lots of fun. Walk-ins are welcome. Financial aid is available.

Basketball
Biddy coaches, officials needed
The Nashua Parks and Recreation Department is looking for coaches and referees for the 2011 Biddy Basketball season. Coaching positions are on a volunteer basis with requirements including an understanding of the game and ability to teach the fundamentals to children in a recreational atmosphere. Coaches are being sought for the following age groups: Boys Junior Biddy Division (ages 7-9) and Boys Bantam Division (13-15). Referees are being sought for all age divisions. Requirements include a thorough understanding of the rules of basketball and the ability to run the court. This is a paid position. Games run Monday-Friday evenings and Saturday days. Referees need to be 18 years of age or older. Contact the Recreation Department at 589-3370 for an application for both positions or stop by the Recreation Office at Greeley Park from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
IAABO holding Apprentice Class
The International Association of Approved Basketball Officials (IAABO) Metro Board 117 is seeking interested basketball officials for its entry level apprentice program. Classes begin on Monday, Sept. 12 at 6:30 p.m. at Alvirne High School in Hudson. Classes will run on consecutive Mondays, culminating in a written test in November and floor test in February 2012. Successful candidates will be certified by IAABO and eligible to referee high school basketball games in New Hampshire. The cost of the school is $100, which includes a rule book, instruction and computer software.
