Nashua 13s fall in district final

Manchester had to win twice against the Nashua U13 All Stars, and it did just that in the district final. Nashua defeated both Manchester and Salem earlier in the tournament behind the pitching of Sam McCarthy and Mike Kernan. Offensively the 13s were sparked by Chris Cruz and Kernan. Against Manchester in the finals, J.J. Dunn and Spencer Beregeron pitched well in defeat and Colby Gunter and Ricky Constant led the way offensively.

Nashua 14s hosting state event

Nashua charged back from a 10-3 deficit, but came up short against Manchester in the U14 District Tournament.

Nashua does advance to the State Tournament in the role of host for the event. Nick Dube and Rob Holbrook led the way for Nashua in the district championship game.

Nashua 15s lose in district final

The Nashua U15 All Stars lost in the district final to Manchester. Manchester had to beat Nashua twice Wednesday night at Ledge Street Field and ended up beating Nashua 4-3 and then 11-8.

In the exciting Game 2, Nashua had a lead of 8-5 going into the sixth inning, but failed to hold that lead and Manchester rallied for six runs in the inning – including a grand slam off the bullpen of Nashua.

Nashua had beaten Concord 10-0 and Manchester 5-3 in tournament, but this day just didn’t end up Nashua’s way. Nick Penkala and Danny Ray were solid on the mound in Game 1 and 2, respectively. Joey Crowley, Matt Fortin and Matt Byers each had a home run on championship day.

AAU tryouts scheduled for Aug. 6 in Hollis

The New Hampshire Knights and New Hampshire Diamond Devils will hold tryouts for their 2012 teams on Saturday, Aug. 6 at Academy Field at the Nashua Baseball Academy in Hollis. Join the Knights and Devils in 2012 and play a 30 game schedule with professional coaches against the best teams in New England. The Knights offer a summer wooden bat league for the Senior Knights, Super Division competition on the U14 level, and a potential trip to the NE Regionals. The U12 Diamond Devils will compete in Cooperstown Dreams Park at the birthplace of baseball. Ages are determined May 1, 2012. Payment plans and financial Aid are available. Tryout times are U10 9 a.m., U11 10:30, U12 noon, U13 2 p.m., U14 3:30, Senior Knights (age 15/17) 5. The Makeup date is Sept. 12 – age 10-12 at 6 p.m. and age 13-17 at 7. Lady Panthers AAU tryouts in August

The Northeastern Lady Panthers AAU basketball club will be hosting tryouts for the 2011 fall season on Aug. 5 and 12. All tryouts are held at the Rogers Middle School at 43 Highland St., Lowell, Mass. There is a $30 tryout fee for all teams. Teams will be formed in all grades beginning with fourth to 12th (Class 2012). All abilities are encouraged to tryout. New England Catching Camp has openings both weeks

The New England Catching Camp would like everyone to know that there is still space available for the 2011 Summer Camps. This year there will again be two weeks of camp to choose from. The four-day, 16-hour camps will be held from July 25-28 and Aug. 8-11. This camp draws both baseball and fast pitch softball catchers from all over the country and is the only camp in New England exclusively for catchers. NECC will be offering a session for players ages 8-12 from 8 a.m.-noon and ages 13-18 will meet from 1-5 p.m. daily. The camp will be held at Lions Field in Hudson. The camp will focus on all the skills needed to excel at the game’s most demanding position. The sessions will include training on flexibility drills, receiving, blocking, throwing and all fielding skills. Wrestling

BGCGN K-8 camp set for Aug. 19-21

The Boys and Girls Club of Greater Nashua is offering a summer wrestling camp Aug. 19-21 for children in kindergarten through eighth grade. Rookies and experienced wrestlers are welcome and will be challenged at appropriate levels. This is a great camp for the beginner who would like to take the step to the next level and it is also a perfect platform for the more experienced wrestler to improve their skills.

Featured coaches include Nashua High School South varsity wrestling coach Adam Langlois, Bishop Guertin varsity coach Paul Rousseau, Elm Street Middle School coach Herb Bennett and Gate City Wrestling Club coach Kris Rowlette – a New England high school champion and Division I collegiate wrestler. The camp runs Friday through Sunday (Aug. 19-21) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

A $50 registration fee covers wrestling instruction and drilling, live wrestling (if desired) lunch daily, games, swimming and lots of fun. Walk-ins are welcome. Financial aid is available.

H/B girls camp starts Monday

The Hollis/Brookline Girls Basketball Camp is scheduled for July 18-22 from 12:30-4 p.m. daily in the high school’s main gymnasium. This camp is for girls from Hollis and Brookline that are entering the seventh, eighth and ninth grades.

The camp, which is limited to 40 spots, is run by coaches Bob Murphy and Tim Glover, as well as some high school varsity players.

Titan hoop camp set for this week

The annual Titan Basketball Camp directed by Don Gutterson with help from local coaches and high school players, will be held the week of July 18 at Milford Middle School.
