GYMNASTICS

NSG takes second in Wilmington (Mass.)

The Nashua School of Gymnastics Level 4 team brought home another trophy, placing second at the Nov. 7 pre-sectional Gymstreets meet in Wilmington, Mass.

The gymnasts needed an All-Around score of 31.00 to qualify for Sectionals.

Level 4

(Ages 6-7)

Corey Foster qualified with an All Around of 32.50 (1st).She earned 8.85 (1st) on vault, 6.90 (1st) on bars, 7.70 (1st)on beam and 9.05 (1st) on floor.

Kaitlyn West finished with an All Around of 29.80 (2nd – previously qualified) She earned 8.00 (2nd) on vault, 6.80 (2nd) on bars, 6.30 (2nd) on beam and 8.70 (2nd) on floor.

Emily Colburn qualified with an All Around of 35.625 (1st). She earned 9.10 (1st) on vault, 8.425 (2nd) on bars, 8.75(1st) on beam and 9.35 (1st) on floor.

Breanna Vivier qualified with an All Around of 33.20 (3rd).She earned 8.50 on vault, 7.95 (3rd) on bars, 7.70 on beam and 9.10 (3rd) on floor.

Emma Lynch qualified with an All Around of 33.475 (2nd). She earned 8.30 (2nd) on vault, 8.10 (2nd) on bars, 8.35(2nd) on beam and 8.725 (2nd) on floor.

Reece Greenleaf finished with an All Around of 29.40 (3rd).She earned 8.20 (3rd) on vault, 5.80 (3rd) on bars, 7.10(3rd) on beam and 8.30 (3rd) on floor.

Level 5

Devon Rosier qualified with an all around score of 34.725 (1st). She scored 8.45 (2nd) on vault, 8.125 (1st) on bars, 8.80 (1st) on beam and 9.35 (1st) on floor.

Jenna Hantula qualified with an all around score of 33.675 (2nd). She scored 8.05 (3rd) on vault, 7.85 (2nd) on bars, 8.725 ( 2nd) on beam and 9.05 (3rd) on floor.

Kyelin King-Elalaoiu had an all around score of 30.325 (5th- previously qualified). She scored 7.75 (4th) on vault, 6.40 on bars, 7.725 on beam and 8.45 on floor.

Kayla Townsend qualified with an All Around score of 34.125 (1st). She scored 8.450 (3rd) on vault, 8.625 (1st) on bars, 8.45 (1st) on beam and 8.60 (2nd) on floor.

Blake Boulia qualified with an All Around score of 31.30 (2nd). She scored 8.650 (1st) on vault, 6.90 (2nd) on bars, 7.40 (3rd) on beam and 8.35 (3rd) on floor.

SWIMMING

Nashua Storm strong at Manchester YMCA

The Greater Nashua YMCA Storm swim team had another strong showing at the Manchester YMCA Invitational. The six-team meet took place at the YMCA Allard Center in Goffstown.

Seventy-seven Storm swimmers achieved personal best times during the meet. Three Storm swimmers broke team records – including Kerry McCann (Girls 11-12, 400 IM); Carl-Nico Laborera (Boys 13-14, 100 backstroke); and Eric Howard (Boys 15-over,100 backstroke).

There were several examples of Storm team success at the meet, including first places in the Girls 9-10 200 freestyle relay (Lauren Brennan, Olivia Petropulos, Nicole Gagnon, Mattea Dumdey); Girls 9-10 200 medley relay (Jacqueline Dumont, Dumdey, Gagnon, Brennan); and the Boys 11-12 200 medley relay (Michael Lai, Andrew Chaviano, Bryan-Norris Laborera, Bryan Li). The team also brought home eight second-place relay finishes.

Other top performances included first-place Evelyn Duffy (U8, 25 breaststroke) and Howard (13-over, 100 backstroke). Howard also took second-place in 100 butterfly.

Laborera took two second-place finishes in the 50 backstroke and 200 IM.

CROSS COUNTRY

Nashua PAL competes at Amherst Festival

The Nashua Police Athletic League cross country teams competed in the Amherst Cross Country Festival on Nov. 7.

Leading the way for the Midget Girls team were sisters Helen and Heidi Ntengeri in fifth and eighth, respectively, followed closely behind by teammate Carla Kossayda.

Olivia Koutsos made an outstanding showing in her first race of the season, finishing 11th, while Jillian Macgregor rounded out the team scoring with a 13th-place finish.

The next pack of PAL runners were Lexi Bernier, Erika Dahl, Kayla Bednarz, Kelsi Farren, Olivia Trader and Randie Klayton, placing from 18th through 24th, respectively.

Other strong performances were turned in by Mary Zhu, Hannah Dobson and Meagan Morelli.

The Bantam Girls team was led by Rebecca Ntengeri (14:10) and Tylee Thurber (14:50). Other strong performances were turned in by Alexis Desfosses, Madelaine Duda, Julia Gagnon, Emma Branquinno, Elise Michard and Jordon Parker.

Bridget Murphy turned in a super effort in her first 4k race as the only PAL runner in the Youth Girls race.

Leading the way for the Midget Boys team were Cameron Jackson (11:31) and Conor Canfield (11:38), who came in first and second, respectively. Rounding out the Midget Boys team were Aidan Sullivan, Simon Morrier, Ryan North, Connor Muise, Ryan Vermette, Tyler North, Evan Branquinho, Alex Creem and Irving Scales.

The Youth Boys team had strong performances from Brian McAfee (eighth, 15:30), Tom Lessard (ninth, 15:31) and Jonathan Zalman (10th, 15:31).

Other strong perfomances were turned in by Tyler Doveno, Ryan Doyle, Ethan Michaud, Phillip Demers, Grant Lerude, Ryan Szcygielski, Owen McNulty, Zachary Pike, Garett Bozek, Andrew Dahl, Joey Tibando, Alex Arika and Ben Chung.

The Bantam Boys team were led by Kyle Fisher (13:11) and Alex Koutsos (13:13). Other strong performances were turned in by Brendon Frost, Conner Dube, Zack Bethiaume, David Pike,John Sullivan, Joseph Ntengeri, Andrew Arike, Jacob Crain, Jacob Pike, Sam Smythe and Owen Duda.

In the Young Mens division, Keith Guay finished fourth with a time of 19:46 and Adam Nastasia finished ninth with a time of 21:13 in the Intermediate Division.

HOCKEY

Cyclones split weekend action

The Northern Cyclones ’99 Elites called up Jeff Gerhard and TJ Fell to face the Portland Pirates in NEHL action, and they made their presence known – helping the Cyclones earn a 9-2 victory. Nate Newton led the defense with two assists, while fellow defensemen Eric Langley and Bobby Haverty both scored goals.

Danny Shea also earned an assist on Haverty’s goal. Joey Paige and Mitchell Pelletier each scored a pair of goals, while Quinn Tucker and Davin Granahan had one goal and one assist each.

Connor Berry scored the last goal of the game with only seconds left, while Ben Peterson and Jeff Gerhard both earned two assists.

In GSL action, it looked like the Cyclones had the game wrapped up going into the third period up 5-3, but the Lakes Region Lakers had other ideas and rallied for a 9-5 win over the Cyclones.

Paige and Pelletier scored two goals each, while Granahan scored the other. Defensemen Ryan Fitzgerald and Michael Zogin each earned assists, as did forwards Tucker, Peterson and Brendan Martin.

Flames Squirt AAA shuts out NH East

The Manchester Flames Squirt AAA team shut out NH East in Granite State League play, picking up an 8-0 win over the Eagles.

The Flames showed improved passing, skating, and crashing on the net throughout, earning seven assists to go with the goals.

The Eagles were limited on total scoring opportunities by the Flames defensive play, and the goalie shut the door on the few good chances they had.
