Nashua PAL wins two

The Nashua PAL Force flag football teams hosted their first home game of the season and scored nine touchdowns on the Bedford Jaguars and NorRock Vikings, bringing home two wins.

The Force Yelow beat NorRock 35-28 with touchdowns by Trent Jackson, Devyn Lavoie, Kobe Pacheco and Patrick Costa (two). The offense featured long runs from Reid Lavoie and David Simpson and head-turning cut backs by Aidan Watson and DJ Declement. The Force defense kept the Vikings at bay with dominant inside play by Art McLaughlin. The speed of Nick Klayton and drive of Drew Sheehan kept NorRock from mounting a late fourth-quarter comeback and preserved the win.

The Force Blue squad played smash-mouth football in defeating the Bedford Jaguars 28-21.  On the first play of the game Zaeden Crocker called a reverse for Charlie Bellavance that led to the first score of the game.

The Force never looked back as Bobby Canaway and Ben Mullett set up shop in the Bedford backfield tying the Jaguars up in the first half. Airyan Cora led the play calling next with a long keeper capped off with the first of two touchdowns behind the slashing running of Patrick Keegan. The Jaguars inched closer but were shut down by speedy cornerback play by Xavier Francis and Cody Morton. Play continued with Jessy Allen handing off to his speedy brother Jayden Allen for one of the longest runs of the game, followed by a Nick Gigesse touchdown.

3rd Grade

Nashua Elks 25, Laconia 19

Trailing 13-0 at halftime, the Nashua Elks Crusaders rallied for a 25-19 win over Laconia. Joseph Buturla played strong defense and recovered a kickoff. Alex Ortiz also had a kickoff recovery and played good defense. Curtis Harris had three touchdowns, which helped tie the game. Ben Levine recovered a fumble by Laconia late in the game to help set up the winning drive with Tyler Armeen scoring the winning touchdown. Nate Zalzal got the game ball for great overall defense and a great block on the kick return at the start of the third quarter that resulted in Harris scoring Nashua’s first touchdown in the comeback.

Goffstown defeats Nashua PAL

Led by game captains Jaiden Dupont, Shea Philbrook, Logan Mathewson and Robbie Long, the PAL Force third graders dropped a road game to Goffstown. Robbie Long and Keegan Mills scored the PAL touchdowns with strong offensive support from Max Ackerman, Mike Zabriskie and Owen Finn. On the defensive side of the ball, Chris

Heitmiller, John Jigarjian and Patrick Melanson played tough.

4th Grade

Laconia 19, Nashua Elks 6

The Nashua Crusaders battled a tough squad from Laconia, but fell short, 19-6. Nashua once again jumped out to an early first quarter lead following a touchdown run from quarterback Andrew Penkala; however, the Crusaders could not find the end zone the rest of the day. Offensively, Jake Robbins and Penkala ran the ball effectively, and Casey McNally caught several passes, as Nashua attempted a comeback. On the defensive side of the ball, the Crusaders received a big game from Mike Robbins, who had multiple tackles and a fumble recovery. Also playing well for the Nashua defense, and collecting multiple tackles, were Jaylan Pacheco, McNally, Brendan Frost, Jake Robbins, Cole Desmond, Jeramiah Lones and Jason Messier.

5th Grade

Goffstown 13, Nashua PAL 0

Johnny Michelin put in a great effort at quarterback, making several completions to Force receivers Matt Leavitt, Seyvon Sanchez and Troy Bottari. The defense was anchored by Nevan Roy, Timmy Rose, CJ Grondin, Paul Murtuagh and Alex White.

6th Grade

Nashua PAL 34, Goffstown 18

The PAL Force sixth graders improved to 3-1 with a 34-18 road win over the Goffstown Screaming Eagles.

Levi Gosselin (two touchdowns), Steven Giaconia, Shane Winnett and Jared Levesque all reached the end zone for the Force, with strong offensive support from Trey Legraw, Mason Dane, Austin Rancourt, Finn Littlefield and Hunter Law.

On the defensive side of the ball, AJ Vitali and Austin Rancourt both sacked the Goffstown quarterback, while Winnett, Littlefield and Steve Lambert (blocked PAT attempt) anchored the effort.

PeeWee

Merrimack dominates Youngsville

Just minutes into the game Daniel McKillop heads into the end zone for the Cardinals to set the pace for the victory over Youngsville. In addition to McKillop, touchdowns were scored by Ryan Allen, Jacob Chambers and Austin Fields. Conner Vance, Joshua Kennedy and Brock Distasio provided awesome support on the offensive line.

The defense also played well. Michael DeFelice pressured the quarterback which resulted in an interception by Kyle Newman. Tyler DeNeil and Jacob Denver also intercepted Youngsville passes.

The defensive line led by Daniel Vanecek, Avery Paulson and Nick Korianski kept the offense on edge. Zachary LaChance also led the team in sacks with two.

The captains for the game were McKillop, Joseph DeGregorio, Allen and Alec Bronchuck.

Jr. PeeWee

Merrimack Cardinals 21, Concord Vipers 0

The game started when Merrimack kicked to Concord and held them to zero with some game defining tackles by Nick Marchand, Christian Hyatt and Joe Eichman.

Offensively, the Cards had great runs from Ryan Fournier and a touchdown by Justin Weiser. Eichman would run in the extra point and in the second quarter broke off a huge 45-yard run to bring the Cardinals to the 2-yard line. Weiser finished it off with a TD run, and Fournier would catch a pass in the end zone for the extra point closing the first half at 14-0.

The second half the defense held the Vipers at zero with a huge hit in the backfield by Merrimack’s Austin Megalaitis. The fourth quarter had some huge blocks by Dennis Fisette, Timmy Gulino and Nate Kennedy, allowing Fournier to run in a touchdown.

Tiny Mite

Merrimack Cardinals Black battle in the Capital

The Merrimack Cardinals Black defense was led by Zachary Maszczak, Alex Durkee and Matthew Todd. Aydan Durant had a fumble recovery mid-game.

The Cardinals’ offense was led by Reimello Hyde, Zander Guay and Jacob Crow. The Cardinals ended their game with a last minute touchdown run by Caden Dudash.

Merrimack Cardinals Red faces off with Youngsville

The Merrimack Cardinals Red’s Jameson Dillon had a big block that opened up the outside for a 50-yard touchdown run by Aiden Parzych – the first of his three touchdowns on the day.

Other highlights of game included touchdowns by both Jake Trahan and Justin Fournier, as well as a tackle by Caleb Gorman that helped the Cardinals contain the Hawks strong outside running game. Danny Mello and Connor Williams also had a strong defensive showing, helping the defense limit the Hawks to only seven first downs for the entire game.

Mighty Mites

Merrimack Cardinals 32, Concord Vipers 0

The Merrimack Cardinals upped their record to 5-0 with a 32-0 victory at the Concord Maroon Vipers (0-5). Running back Adam Thornton scored on a 58-yard run on the first play from scrimmage, and the Cardinals defense posted their second consecutive shutout.

Quarterback Bobby Bunis scored on a 1-yard run and running back Ben Eichman added a 22-yard scamper in the first half. Runs by Zachariah Twardosky (28 yards) and Patrick Yudkin (2 yards) rounded out the scoring.

Jared Dyer excelled on offense, defense and special teams, including a 25-yard punt return. Jay Lanigan, James Dowling, Kaiden Orme, John McLain and Robert Defelice all moved the ball effectively rushing the football.

The defense did not allow a completion all game and Twardosky had an interception.

Hunter Mack, Casey Craven and Ryan Williams helped defend and deflect passes.

The Cardinals received excellent line play from both their offensive and defensive lines, including solid efforts from Mason Walters, Hayden Moses, Joshua Guerriero, Justin Tevepaugh, Thomas Prentice, Timothy Eckert, Jeb Merrill and Zac Oak.

Middle School Varsity

Merrimack Cardinals 50, Westford (Mass.) 20

The Merrimack Cardinals improved to 4-0 with a 50-20 victory at home against the Westford, Mass., Junior Ghosts (1-3). Kyle Heidbreder set the tone early, scoring on a fumble recovery return for a quick touchdown. He also added two touchdown receptions from quarterback Ryan Stevens (25 yards, 2 yards) in a game featuring a balanced rushing and passing attack from the high-flying Cardinals offense.

Merrimack leads the Northeast Junior High Football League in scoring at 37.5 points per game and remains tied with Andover atop the standings. Runningback Joe Giampetro scored through the air and on the ground, Jeff Genet added a 40-yard TD run, and Brandon Zamary added a 1-yard touchdown plunge for Merrimack.

Nashua PAL 42, Goffstown 8

The PAL Force middle school varsity traveled to Goffstown where they improved their record to 5-1 with a 42-8 victory. Demitri Jackson, Conner Baldassaro, Zack Jenkins, Jordon Delgado all picked off Goffstown passes, while Jackson, Baldassaro and Matt Lavallee scored touchdowns. Colby Gunter handled quarterbacking duties, and Greg Stanton recovered a fumble.

Middle School JV

Goffstown 24, Nashua PAL 0

Mike Lorenzo, Ryan Hynson, Jordon Delgado, Andrew Lennartson, Jackson Slater, Dylan Salazar, Blake Campbell, Treyvon Valeras-Randolph, Christian Sewell, John Sweeney, Mike Muchemore and Gerardo Sanchez all played well in the loss. Catching passes in the Force offense were David Muite, Zach Janoff, Lorenzo, Ryan Hynson, Delgado, Jeffery Mitchell and Muchemore.

Westford (Mass.) 34, Merrimack 8

Running back Allen Durkee had another big game for Merrimack, accumulating over 200 yards from scrimmage including a 78-touchdown run for the lone Cardinals touchdown. Quarterback Mitchell McMahon completed several passes while under duress of a heavy pass rush for most of the game.

SOCCER

U14 Cobras 6, Manchester SC 0

Ryan Guidaboni struck first for the Nashua U14 Cobras and was followed by goals from Nick LaBate and Srishail Thapa for a 3-0 first half lead.

Ryan Naber added another goal for the Cobras to start the second half.

Goalie Wesley Vanderburgh with the support of defenders Abigail MacIntosh, Andrei Jungkman, Matt Migneault and David Wang held Manchester scoreless for the 6-0 victory.

Hopkinton SC 2, U14 Cobras 1

Kenny Robinson got the Nashua U14 Cobras on the board with crisp passing from Ryan Guidaboni and Srishail Thapa.

Evan Lowe, Jake Redman, Kennedy Dowling and Max Leatherman kept up the pressure for the Cobras but they were unable to crack the defense for a tying goal.

NSG opens 2010 season

at Brentwood Commons

Nashua School of Gymnastics started its 2010 meet season with a 1st place win! The level 4-6 compulsory gymnasts competed in the Harvest Meet held at Gymnastics at Brentwood Commons on Oct. 3. The Level 4-6 team took first place with a total score of 108.75.

Level 6

Age group 7-11

Kayla Townsend qualified with an All-Around score of 34.650 (1st), She earned 8.35 on vault, 9.00 (1st) on bars, 8.875 (1st) on beam and 8.425 on floor.

Blake Boulia qualifed with an All-Around score of 32.975 (3rd). She earned 8.675 (2nd) on vault, 7.40 (2nd) on bars, 8.60 ( 2nd) on beam and 8.300 on floor.

Level 5

Age group 9-11

Devon Rosier had an All-Around score of 35.50 (1st). She scored 8.725 (1st) on vault, 8.50 (2nd) on bars, 8.90 (2nd) on beam and 9.375(1st) on floor.

Jenna Hantula had an All-Around score of 34.55 (2nd). She scored 8.175 (3rd) on vault, 8.15 (4th) on bars, 9.30 (1st) on beam and 8.925 (3rd) on floor.

Khevna Joshi had an All-Around score of 31.50 (8th). She scored 8.10 (4th) on vault, 7.00 on bars, 8.25 (7th) on beam and 8.15 (7th) on floor.

Level 4

Age group 6-8

Emily Colburn scored 8.975 on vault (3rd), 8.80 on bars (2nd), 9.10 on beam (2nd) and 9.40 on floor (2nd) with an All-Around score of 36.275 (2nd).

Age group 9-11

Kyelin King-Elalaoui scored 9.40 on vault (1st), 7.65 on bars (9th), 8.30 on beam (3rd) and 9.275 on floor (2nd) with an All-Around score of 34.625 (5th).

Emma Lynch scored 8.80 on vault (7th), 8.00 on bars (7th), 8.20 on beam (4th) and 8.575 on floor (5th) with an All-Around score of 33.575 (7th).

Age group 6-8

Breanna Vivier score 8.80 on vault (8th), 7.10 on bars (5th), 8.35 on beam and 9.025 on floor (5th) with an All-Around score of 33.275 (7th).
