Jack Barbour earned his fourth straight New Hampshire State Elks Soccer Shoot Championship Saturday in Dover.

By grabbing the U14 boys title, Barbour has won a State Elk Soccer Shoot title as a 9-, 10-, 11- and now 12-year-old competitor, in three different age divisions. He also scored the highest point total ever recorded in the 11 years of the State Elks Soccer Shoot program when he kicked for a total of 52 points – matching the record 52 points he scored in August at the Greater Nashua Elks Soccer Shoot.

Besides the first-place trophy, he was awarded the State Elks “Golden Boot” trophy for the highest score in all the boys divisions.

Five other Greater Nashua Elks soccer champions – Merrimack 10-year-old Christian De Penasse; and Nashua 7-year-olds Eliot Mason and Ahana Thapa, 8-year-old Jaimee Conmy and 10-year-old Sharrdeia Spearman – all finished second in their respective divisions.

12-year-old Abilgail Pike placed third and 9-year-old Ryan Santoro received Honorable Mention in their divisions.

Barbour will now travel to Hampton the weekend of Nov. 5-7 with the other seven 2010 state champions to compete with their counterparts from the other five New England and New York State Champions for the Elks Area One Regional Soccer Championship.

U12: Nashua Cobras 5, Londonderry 0

Alex Moody and Partha Porika played strong on goal to shut out Londonderry. Moody led the team with two goals, with Levi Hazard and Caio Campos adding one goal each. The Cobras’ defense was strong, with Jonathan Snow and Brandon Lee playing hard to keep the ball on offense.

U12: Nashua Cobras 8, Litchfield 2

Conor Canfield led Nashua offensively with three goals, while Tara Saliany, Caio Campos, Levi Hazard and Alex Moody chipped in with one goal each. Jonathan Snow and Shardeia Spearman played great on defense, helping to keep Litchfield scoring to a minimum. Brandon Lee and Partha Porika played strong on goal.

FOOTBALL

3rd Grade: Londonderry beat PAL

Led by game captains Jack Zabriskie, Keegan Mills, Chris Heitmiller and Donovan LaBate, the PAL Force dropped a home contest to Londonderry. Robbie Long scored a touchdown and was 2 for 2 passing, with completions to Heitmiller and Mills. 

Mills, Chris Heitmiller and James Hetimiller also had nice runs behind tough blocking from Logan Mathewson, Shuan Marion and Kyle Krulikowski. On the defensive side of scrimmage, Brody Mills made some great hits and tackles.

4th Grade: Pelham 31, PAL 0

The PAL Force offensive line of Griffin Dane, Garrett Hillard, Max Wright, Connor Ericson, Alex George and Logan Boucher punched holes in Pelham’s defensive line, but the Force was unable to capitalize. Luc Blondeau, Jordan Bodwell and Brian Montminy did their best to contain the Pelham offense.

4th Grade: Hudson Bears 14, Nashua Elks Crusaders 6

Nashua jumped out to an early lead following a touchdown pass from Andrew Penkala to Casey McNally. Despite severl sustained drives, the Crusaders could not find the end zone the rest of the day. Offensively, Nashua also received solid running from Jake Robbins and Jeffrey Reza, as well as blocking Max Sheppard and Jeramiah Lones. On the defensive side of the ball, the Crusaders were led by Braden McDonnell, Brendan Frost, Jaylen Pacheco and Penkala (fumble recovery). Also playing well for the Nashua defense were Mike Robbins, Jack D’Amato, Jason Messier, Tige McNulty, Cole Desmond and McNally.

5th Grade: PAL 32, Milford 6

Randall Jenkinns scored on a 53-yard touchdown run, Jacob Kostansek scored on a 2-yard dive, Troy Bottari caught a touchdown pass and Schyler Boykin scored on a 33-yard run and a fumble return. Every Force player carried the ball at least one time in the game. Defensive standouts Paul Murtaugh, Anthony Mele, Illiya Andrews, CJ Grondin, Allan Martin and Adonis Johnson held Milford to a single touchdown. CORRECTION: Last weekend’s results reported a 13-6 PAL Force loss to the Elks Crusaders. In fact, the Force fifth graders won the game by the same score.

6th Grade: Nashua Elks 29, Hudson Bears 6

Leading the way for the Elks Crusaders (5-0) was Owen Amigo, who rushed for two touchdowns. Jacob Oldro also rushed for a touchdown and Stephen Signorello kicked two extra points. Also playing well on offense was Cyrus Forcier, Tyler Arnesen and Myles Johnson. The defense had another great game with standout play by Shane Verranault, who had a fumble recovery and Chaz Margas, who had two great open field tackles. Also playing well on the defense was Jishnu Siddabathula, Andrew Robinson, Bryan Moraes, Brendon Mericantante and Alex Parrot.

6th Grade: Milford 19, PAL 6

Despite scoring in the first drive of the game, the PAL Force dropped to 2-3 with a loss to the Milford Mustangs. A 50-yard drive led by quarterback Joey Bernard, with holes opened by linemen Enacio Leclaire, Oscar Velavquez and Patrick Holt was capped by a Levi Gosslin touchdown run. The solid defensive effort, anchored by Matt Kratman, Shane Winnett, Velavquez and Gosselin just wasn’t enough.

Middle School Varsity: PAL 52, Milford 0

Demitri Jackson ran for four touchdowns, with additional scores by Zach Jenkins and Conner Baldassaro. Solid efforts and big plays were also made by Ryan Petron, Ben Levesque, Colby Gunter, Matt Lavallee, Gregory Stanton, Jackson Slater and Christian Bouchard.

Middle School JV: Milford 14, PAL Force 0

Despite great efforts from Mike Lorenzo, Blake Campbell, Troy Lustick, Mike Muchemore, David Muite, Christian Sewell, Shane Sicurella and Zach Janoff the PAL Force came up short.

U7 Flag: PAL Force ‘Yellow’ 28, Goffstown Screaming Eagles 7

The Nashua PAL Force “Yellow” squad improved to 5-1-1 with another big win over the Goffstown Screaming Eagles. PAL marked up the scoring sheet four times with touchdowns from Drew Sheehan, Devyn Lavoie, Patrick Costa and Kobe Pacheco. Tough blocking by Art McLaughlin, David Simpson and Dominic Declement opened up serious gaps in the defense which allowed for the speedy Nashua backs to run the ball.

The stingy Force defense led by Reid Lavoie and Trent Jackson let up only one touchdown early in the first quarter and kept Goffstown on its heels for the rest of the game.

U7 Flag: PAL Force ‘Blue’ 21, Manchester East 21

The Force “Blue” tied the Cobras of Manchester East, bringing their record to 4-2-1.

Touchdowns were scored by Bobby Canaway, Zaedan Crocker and Xavier Francis.

Jessy Allen had three great runs behind his brother Jayden Allen and Ben Mullett. Coming up big defensively and shutting down the right side of the field were Charlie Bellavance and Patrick Keegan. Nick Digesse and Cody Morton played solid defense on the edges and gave the Cobras nowhere to run all day.

CROSS COUNTRY

Nashua PAL registration scheduled for two more days this month

Registrations for the Nashua PAL Cross Country program will take place on Oct. 16 and 25. The first sign-up session will be held during the Nashua City Elementary School Championship Race at the Nashua High School North track on Oct. 16th from 8-10 a.m. The second session will be held on the first day of PAL Cross Country practice at the Nashua High School South track on Oct. 25 from 4-5:30 p.m.

Registrations are open to runners of all skill levels from Nashua and the surrounding area. Teams are age-based and registration is open to runners born from 1992-2001. Registration forms will be available at the sign-ups or can be obtained in advance at www.NashuPALRaces.com. Registration fees will be $50 per runner (first runner in a family), with reduced fees for additional runners from the same family and a $100 per family cap. Registration fees cover USA Track and Field membership and entry fees for USATF races. For all PAL programs, registration fee waivers and reductions are available for families who qualify.

Nashua PAL Cross Country Cruiser teams take part in the USATF’s Junior Olympic program and have a long record of success at the local, regional, and national level. Nashua Parks & Recreation looking for Boys Bantam League coaches

The Nashua Parks & Recreation Department is looking for volunteer basketball coaches for the Boys Bantam Division (ages 13-15) for Biddy Basketball.

Interested candidates should have a thorough knowledge of the game of basketball, as well as experience working with youth.

All applicants will be required to fill out a volunteer application and background check. The Bantam basketball season runs from November through March and includes two or three games a week with games on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings. Interested coaches should contact the Recreation Department at 589-3370 to secure a volunteer application.
