TRYOUTS/REGISTRATION
BASKETBALL
MERRIMACK YOUTH ASSOCIATION: The Merrimack Youth Association has four registration dates set for the winter season on Sept. 18 (9 a.m.-noon), Sept. 22 (7-9 p.m.), Sept. 25 (9 a.m.-noon) and Sept. 29 (7-9 p.m.).
All interested players, coaches and volunteers should sign up at one of the regularly scheduled registration times. Registration is at the MYA Building on Daniel Webster Highway.
Registration forms and additional information can be found online at www.myabasketball.org. MYA Basketball provides competitive basketball leagues for boys and girls in Merrimack from the thirrd grade through high school.
Volunteer coaches select new teams each year to form the leagues. Practices start in November, and league play runs from December through April, with playoffs in March. In addition, MYA Basketball operates an “Instructional League” for players in Grades 1 and 2, with a more limited schedule.

NASHUA NIGHTHAWKS: The Nashua Nighthawks will hold tryouts for their boys travel teams on Oct. 16 at Girls Inc. in Nashua.
Times are broken down as follows: 3rd/4th Grade – 12:30-1:30 p.m.; 5th Grade – 1:30-3 p.m.; 6th Grade – 3-4:30 p.m.; 7th Grade – 4:30-6 p.m.; and 8th Grade – 6-7:30 p.m.
There is a $20 tryout fee ($25 family rate – multiple siblings) which will be assessed to cover gym rental and incidental costs. For additional information, e-mail nashuabasketball@hotmail.com.
LADY PANTHERS: The Northeastern Lady Panthers AAU basketball club will be hosting tryouts for the 2010 fall ball season today. All tryouts are held at the Rockingham Athletic Club/Eastern Sports Center located at 175 Plaistow Rd. in Plaistow.
There is a $30 tryout fee for all teams. The U11, U12 and U13 will tryout at 11 a.m.; while U14, U15 and U16/U17 tryout at noon. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. Contact Ricky Oliver at neladypanthers@aol.com or visit www.neladypanthers.org.

NH HAWKS: The NH Hawks AAU team is looking to add a few more players to the U14 roster for the 2011 season.
Player fees are low and there is no cost for additional private instruction.

NH GRIZZLIES: The NH Grizzlies, NH’s oldest baseball AAU organization, has only a few remaining slots for their 2011 teams – 13s need pitchers; 14s need pitchers, an outfielder and a catcher; and 15s should call for specifics. Tryouts will be held until Sept. 25 by appointment.

SOFTBALL
MASS. GALAXY: The Mass. Galaxy Fastpitch Softball organization will hold an open tryout for the 2011 season for its U12 team.
Current plans for the 2011 season feature a five-tournament schedule, all games local, including Massachusetts towns such as Lowell, Dracut, Grafton, Leominster and Sterling.
Tryouts for the 2011 team will be held on Sept. 18 from 2-4 p.m., and Sept. 19 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Monty Tech softball complex in Fitchburg, Mass. Interested players are required to attend both tryout dates.

SWIMMING
SOUTHERN NH FINS: The Southern NH FINS offer a competitive swim program from September through March for children 6-18 years old. Tryouts for the 2010-2011 season will be held on Saturday, Sept. 18 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. and Sunday, Sept. 19 from 9-10 a.m.
Arrive anytime between those times at the Boys & Girls Club of Nashua, 47 Grand Avenue, Nashua. MST RAPIDS: The Manchester Swim Team is offering tryouts for the 2010-2011 season at the Southern New Hampshire University Pool in Manchester from 6-7:30 p.m. Sept. 4-17.
Spots are open to swimmers ages 6-19. New swimmer evaluations will be held on Sept. 15 at 6 p.m. An information session will be held Monday at 6 p.m. at the SNHU Aerobics Studio.
The Manchester Swim Team is a USS-registered team and competes in the NHSA/GSAA league as well as USS meets throughout the Northeast.

Meet with World Cup soccer coaches and go over drills to test out or improve your soccer game. All participants will receive a sports ball and playbook.

FOOTBALL

BASKETBALL
OFFICIALS: The International Association of Approved Basketball Officials (IAABO) Metro Board 117 is seeking interested basketball officials for its entry level apprentice program. Classes begin on Monday, Sept. 13 at 6:30 p.m. at the Diocesan Office Building 153 Ash St. in Manchester.
Classes will run on consecutive Mondays culminating in a written test in November and floor test in February. Successful candidates will be certified by IAABO and eligible to referee high school basketball games in the state of New Hampshire.
