Locals shine at Junior Olympic Nationals in Calif.

In June, eight members of the Amherst Recreation Track and Field Team qualified to attend the 2010 USA Track and Field National Junior Olympic Championships.

Mikayla Hickey and Frank Irizarry were able to attend the National Junior Olympics, which were held in Sacramento, Calif. on July 27. Hickey ran the 100 meter dash and participated in the long jump. She finished 11th nationally in the long jump. Irizarry participated in the Triathlon and achieved 23rd place nationally.
