CROSS COUNTRY

NASHUA PAL: Get a jumpstart on your elementary school cross country season this year by participating in the Nashua PAL Cross Country Running Camp. The program will be held Aug. 23-27 (5:30-7 p.m. daily, rain or shine) at the Nashua High School South track. The camp cost is $20. This program is for children attending third, fourth and fifth grade in the fall of 2010. The primary goal of this program is personal achievement, individual success and the development of healthy habits in a fun and social atmosphere. As a participant, your child will be encouraged to set personal goals and work to achieve those goals with a renewed sense of pride in their accomplishments. BASKETBALL

NASHUA NIGHTHAWKS: The Nashua Nighthawks will hold tryouts for their boys travel teams on Oct. 16 at Girls Inc. in Nashua. Times are broken down as follows: 3rd/4th Grade – 12:30-1:30 p.m.; 5th Grade – 1:30-3 p.m.; 6th Grade – 3-4:30 p.m.; 7th Grade – 4:30-6 p.m.; and 8th Grade – 6-7:30 p.m. There is a $20 tryout fee ($25 family rate – multiple siblings) which will be assessed to cover gym rental and incidental costs. NH HUSKIES: Tryouts for the New Hampshire Huskies AAU team will be held on Aug. 28 and 29 at 91 North St., Rindge. Aug. 28 – 10 a.m. for 12U age group; 1 p.m. for 13U age group. Aug. 29 – 2 p.m. for 12U age group; 4 p.m. for 13U age group. Players only need to attend one tryout session. There is no fee to try out. HOLLIS CAL RIPKEN FALL BALL: The Hollis Cal Ripken Baseball Association is holding its Fall 2010 registration online at www.holliscalripken.org. Players between the ages of 9 and 12 as of April 30, 2010 are eligible. Registration runs through Sept. 2.

NH BLACK FLIES: The 2011 New Hampshire Black Flies 13U AAU baseball team will hold tryouts at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 29 at Riley Field in Bedford. The highly competitive program that produced an AAU national championship in 2008 offers fall ball, indoor winter training, professional instruction and league and tournament play. FROZEN ROPES: The Frozen Ropes Baseball/Softball Academy is looking for players for a seven-week fall baseball season. They will have a middle school 13/14 and freshman 15/16 teams that will begin play Sept. 12. NH LIGHTNING: The NH Lightning Softball Club is offering a second open tryout date for players interested in playing in the 12U and 14U age divisions. Tryouts for both ages are being held on Sunday, Aug. 22 from 9-11 a.m. at Martin Field in Concord. Any players interested are encouraged to attend. HUDSON HEAT: The Hudson Girls Softball League will be hosting tryouts for its competitive travel softball teams, the Hudson Heat. Tryout dates are as follows: U16 Aug. 25. All tryouts are at Kiwanis Field in Hudson. Visit the HGSL website at hgsl.org for times and team contact information.

NH BLACK WIDOWS: The NH Black Widows, an ASA softball program founded by Dick Albert, are entering their 2nd year of reformation. Tryouts will be held for both a 12U and 14U program at Carnival Hill in Wilton on the following dates: 14U will be held Aug. 22 from 10 a.m.-noon;12U will be held Aug. 22 from 12-2 p.m. and Sept. 4 and 5 from 10 a.m.-noon. SOUTHERN NH FINS: The Southern NH FINS offer a competitive swim program from September through March for children 6-18 years old. Tryouts for the 2010-2011 season will be held on Saturday, Sept. 18 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. and Sunday, Sept. 19 from 9-10 a.m. Arrive anytime between those times at the Boys & Girls Club of Nashua, 47 Grand Avenue, Nashua.
