NEGTC boys strong at AAU National Championship

New England Gymnastics Training Center boys teams compete for the first time at the AAU Nationals Competition in Orlando, Fla. The event took place at the ESPN Wild World of Sports Center, in Orlando Fla., July 1. This was a record year for the AAU boy’s gymnastics event with the most boys ever to attend. A wonderful experience for the four NEGTC athletes: Andrew Sevigny, Cole Marchand, Jacob Dorman and Jonathan Furlong, who attended the event. They competed with other gyms from Florida, Georgia, Massachusetts, Missouri and Michigan.

Sevigny placed first in the Level 6 All-Around (82.0), also taking first place in the static rings (13.8), vault (15.5), high bar (14.2) and floor (14.5) event. He also won second place in the parallel bar (12.0) event and third place in the pommel horse (12).

Marchand placed first in the Level 5 All-Around (83.4), also taking first place in parallel bar (13.1), high bar (13.5) and floor (15.2) events. He also finished second place in the pommel horse (13.2) and third in rings (13.5) and vault (14.2) events.

Dorman placed third in the level 5 All-Around (79.9). He also placed first in vault (15.2), and second in rings (13.9), parallel bar 12.50) and third place in pommel (12.5) and high bar (12).

Furlong place first in the Level 4 All-Around (87.2), also taking first in floor (15.1), pommel horse (14.7), vault (15.6) and parallel bars (13.6). He also took second place in rings (14.9) and high bar (13.3)

NEGTC raises $14,500 for the Bella Tucker Fund

New England Gymnastics Training Center of Hudson held a fundraiser for the Bella Tucker Fund.

The Tucker/Roarty Family came to NEGTC on July 23 to receive a donation for a grand total of 14,500. Many of the gymnast and parents were on hand to share in this wonderful moment. The gymnasts put their hearts and souls into this event. We would like to thank all the gymnast that participated and would like to extend a sincere thank you to all the wonderful family, friends and neighbors that donated generously for this very special event. Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Tucker/Roarty family.

SOFTBALL

U12 ASA NH Lightning win Bulldog Invitational in Maine

The U12 ASA NH Lightning won the Bulldog Invitational in Winslow, Maine. They won all five games, never leaving the winners bracket.

Members of the team are: Sammy Benoit, Hannah Seidner, Jasmine Colon, Makayla Flemming, Ashley Hill, Lauren Mullen, Deanna Misiazek, Maddy Pellerin, Meghan Smith, Emily Redlon, Ashley Skey, and Isabel Stoddard.

NH teams dominate at New England Regionals

New Hampshire teams were once again dominant at all four New England Softball Regional events this year.

The weekend of July 31, in Pittsfield, Mass., Souhegan Valley and Suncook Valley finished second and third in the U10 Regionals.

At the same time, in Plaistow, Lancaster (Lou Leaver), Plymouth and Souhegan Valley placed one-two-three.

Berlin and Somersworth grabbed the No. 2 and No. 4 slots at the U16 Regionals.

To round out the set, NH teams also took three of the top four spots in the U12s, making NH teams the top finishers in 10 of the top 16 slots in the six-state Regionals.

Monadnock will head to the U12 World Series.

Lacrosse

NH boys All-Stars played for U15 National Championship

The New Hampshire Lacrosse Foundation sponsored the NH All-Star U15 boys team at the U.S. Lacrosse National Championship at Disney Wide World of Sports on July 19-22.

The team was seleceted at an open tryout in early April. The 22 players selected for the team come from all parts of the state and represent the best players in the U15 age bracket.

BASEBALL

NH Grizzlies Participate in AAYBA Open World Series

The week of July 17-24, the NH Grizzlies Baseball U14s, managed by Chad Pelissier and coaches Gregg Bowen, Scott Silver and Brad Mezquita participated in the AAYBA Open World Series in St. Louis.

After pool play they were seated 13th.

Warren Silver won the next game, which moved them into the Platinum or highest division of four divisions.

By winning the next two games they were now in the semifinals.

This win put them into the championships which took two extra innings for them to earn their win with a final score of 12-11 against a team from Oklahoma.

Robbie Tuite started this game with three relievers being used: Nic Perkins, Zach Lazenby and Colin Duffley pitching two scoreless innings in the eighth and ninth to earn the win.

Ty Mezquita drove in the winning run. The team as a whole hit seven home runs during the series.

Participants on the 2010 tournament team were Joe Gouveia, Warren Silver, Colin Duffley, Kody Carlson, Michael Martinez, Robbie Tuite, Ty Mezquita, Nic Perkins, Zach Lazenby,Chris Beckmann and Erik Huenke.
