SALEM – The Nashua Babe Ruth 14-year-old All-Stars won the state championship by sweeping both ends of a doubleheader against the previously undefeated Salem All-Stars.

Nashua won the first game 7-6 to force a winner-take-all Game 2.

Nashua pounded out nine runs in the first five innings en route to a 9-5 win over Salem in that second game and setting up a trip to the Regionals at Bullens Field Westfield, Mass. Nashua will take the field Friday at 4 p.m.

Ryan Milliken took the mound in the fourth inning, pitching four innings and striking out five to earn the win.

Nashua compiled 12 hits during the win. CJ Boykin was flying around the bases all day, recording two hits (triple), scoring two runs and stealing a base in the title game.

Matt Fortin was a pest to the Salem defense all game. Fortin reached base three times and swiped two bases. Joe Crowley was 2 for 3 with a walk.

Ryan Mateo and Brad DeLuca each pitched in with a hit.

The Nashua All-Stars have a 10-2 record going in to the Regional Tournament.
