Grizzlies U13 win Connecticut tourney’s Silver Division

The New Hampshire Grizzlies U13s participated in the Triple Crown Independence Day Tournament in Branford, Conn., over the holiday weekend.

Losing only one game out of four with one going into a California tie-breaker, the team went on to become the Silver Division champions.

Members of the team at the tournament included players from the following towns were Chris Gerossie, Kolby Sullivan, Kyle Sullivan, Bobby Baril, Colin Ravenelle, Ryan Lang, Cam Barth, Marty Schancer, Seimou Smith, Steven Upton, Jimmy Ciampa, manager Mike Jackson and coach Tim Sullivan.

Knights U13/U14 qualify for New England AAU

For the fourth consecutive year as an AAU program both the U13 and U14 New Hampshire Knights have qualified to participate in the New England AAU Open Division Championships.

The U13 Knights qualified as one of the top 16 from amongst 72 Open Division teams in New England, while the U14 Knights qualified as one of the top 16 from amongst 43 Open Division teams in New England. The U13 and U14 AAU Open Division teams will compete for the New England Championship.

The U14 Knights will be hosting tournament games at Daniel Webster College while the U13 Knights will travel to Old Orchard Beach in Maine for weekend action.

The U13 Knights are made up of Shea Whalen, Joshua Goulet, Brendan Martin, Tommy Schmalz, Ethan Brodell, Matthew Lavallee, Nicholas Dube, Anthony Garuti, Dario Vitagliano, Jeremy Ouellette, Cameron Cox, Mike Demers and Johnny Vidal.

The U14 Knights are made up of CJ Boykin, Matt Byers, Brad Deluca, Chas Dewitt, Jason Ferlan, Jordan Oelkers, Cam LaFleur, Nick Penkala, Evan Richardson, Brendan Robbins, Sean Warneke, Robbie Flohr, Matt Fortin and James Commisso.

SOFTBALL

Storm U10 girls win districts

The Souhegan Valley Storm U10 competed in the Babe Ruth District Tournament in Newport. The Storm finished the tournament with a 5-0 record to win the District Championship and qualify for the New Hampshire Babe Ruth State Tournament in Londonderry.

The Storm started the weekend with a come-from-behind 9-8 victory led by Taryn Collins’ pitching and a walk-off, game-winning hit by Delaney Parker.

The Storm continued their winning streak with 12-2, 10-0 and 10-0 wins led by Hailey Yabroudy pitching and Shanna Scribner hitting.

The Storm won the championship game 15-10 highlighted by a big first inning when the Storm scored eight runs with two outs. Every player on the team reached base during the weekend.

HOCKEY

NH Knights win Lobsterfest

The New Hampshire Knights Squirt Minor (2001) team went undefeated as they came out on top of a four team division to win the Lobsterfest Tournament in Maine.

The four teams participating in this division were the Chicago Cougars, Better Hockey (Maine), Beantown Bullies (Mass.) and the Knights.

The Lobsterfest hockey tournament took place the weekend of July 9-11.

The Knights dominated as they skated to a 10-0 win in the title game.

The 2001 Knights got great play from forwards Chris Dowd, Travis Marchant, Patrick Madden, Jacob Banks, Cade DeStefani and Matt Eskenas.

Defensively, the Knights allowed just five goals in five games in the tournament led by George Gatzoulis, Matt Crowley, Keegan Youngclaus, Nate Lamontagne, Sean Mulholland and goalie Kyle Chauvette was great all weekend in net.

Classics U10 girls perfect playing up in U11 division

The New Hampshire Classics U10 girls coached by Deb McDonough completed an undefeated season in the U11 Division 1 of Granite State Soccer.

They also competed at The Nordic Cup soccer tournament in Vermont on Father’s Day weekend, winning all four games and ranking first in the U10 division.

While in Vermont, the team reached great heights at the Northern Lights Rock and Ice climbing facility.

Members of the Classics soccer team Brooke Shatney, Jadyn McDonough, Morgan Walsh, Lacey Lavigne, Abbie Shannon, Lauren Johnson, Caroline Claire, Meghan Blanchette, Olivia Coco, Laura Galvez Lovo, Marissa Gaudette, Maddyy Buffett, as well as coaches Deb McDonough, Kim Gaudette and Jen Johnson-Masse.
