BOYS LACROSSE

Nashua Blast U11 wins Pentucket Memorial Day Tournament

After a double overtime loss to Windham 8-7 in the first game, the U11 Blast went on to win three straight over Newburyport 10-3, Triton 8-3 and the championship rematch with Windham 10-3 to win the Cape Ann Division of the Pentucket Memorial Day Tournament.

The Blast was led by the attackmen Anthony Costa, Luc Blondeau, Andrew Brown, Jake Kelleher, Aiden McAndrews and Zac Wilson.

Midfielders Cyrus Forcier, Christian Lacy, Matt Lambalot, Simon Morier, Nick Page, Shane Puleo and Jared Zeichick ran the field and controlled the offense.

Defensemen Mason Miller, Brandon Lacy, Jacob Holmes and Jacoby Wesson played strong in the absence of injured point man Max Osgood.

The goalie duo of James Petz and James Heitmiller both played strong between the pipes with many saves.

Leading the way for Nashua was Ryan Guidaboni and Andrew DeCarteret with two goals each. Tom Haller, Scotty Costa, Steve Saucier and Jake Redman each added a goal.

Goalies Jake Redman and Wes Cunningham worked hard to keep the ball out of the goal.

Blast Redman U11 win Northeast Division at Pentucket tourney

The Nashua Blast Redman U11 Team fought hard to win the North East Division of the Pentucket Massachusetts Memorial Day Tournament.

The team went undefeated with wins over Pentucket (10-1), North Andover (8-7), Tribal (8-3) and North Andover in the Championship game (12-3). Doug Barker, Troy Bottari, Alex Bozek, Zac Clancy, Tyler Dubien, Kyle and Peyton Fisher, Ryan Fitzgerald, Will Haller, Korey Holt, Colin Manning, Brendan Martin, Connor McDowell, Alex Moody, Owen Mooso, Nathan Newton, Joey Paige, Ian Read, Todd Redman and Dylan Terenzoni all contributed to Nashua’s championship.

Nashua Blast U11 Redman 7, Windham 6

Trailing by two at the half, the Nashua Blast U11 Redman got a strong showing from Ryan Fitzgerald between the pipes and an offensive surge to pull out a one-goal win to wrap up an undefeated season.

Todd Redman and Joey Paige scored two goals each, while Zach Clancy, Ty DuBien and Brendan Martin added one goal each for the Blast.

Amherst Eagles soar again

The Amherst Middle School girls track and field team repeated as the Tri-County Division II champions by amassing a total of 173 points (second place scored 59).

It was the second undefeated season in a row for the Eagles, who were led by Courtney Gabinetti with first place finishes in the high jump, hurdles and 400. She also anchored the winning 4×200 relay team.

Her 4-foot, 10-inch high jump tied the meet record and her 1:00.01 time in the 400 bested the meet record by nearly two seconds and would have placed her fourth among all New Hampshire high school girls.

Also recording firsts were CiCi Huyck in the 100 (13.28) and 200 (28.15); Min Lu Kelly-Durham in the 800 (2:36.29); Caree Pitts in discus (76-2); Kelly-Durham, Miclyn Noorda, Sam Prue and Taylor Behn in the 4×100 relay; and Jocelyn Donohue, Huyck, Addison Boothroyd and Gabinetti in the 4×200 relay.

The Amherst boys finished eight points out of first place in their attempt to win their third championship in a row. Drew Prescott came in first in the 400 (57.17), David Kibbie was first in the 800 (2:19.99) and Patrick Lynch took first in the 1,600 with a school record time of 4:57.6.

Other school records recorded during the season included Sarah Hurd tying Gabinetti’s 4-10 in the high jump; Prescott 56.2 in the 400; the team of Behn, Huyck, Boothroyd and Madison Learned with a 52.9 in the 4×100 relay; and the team of Gabinetti, Huyck, Boothroyd and Learned with a 1:50.4 in the 4×200 relay. Gabinetti lowered her school record in the 400 five times. Top point scorers for the season for the boys were Ben DeForest, who was second at the championship in the hurdles and third in the high jump. For the second season in a row, Gabinetti was the top scorer for the girls.

GYMNASTICS

NEGTC Gymnasts perform at Strawberry Festival

New England Gymnastics Training Center of Hudson girls and boys performed at the 27th annual Strawberry Festival and Book Fair at the Windham High School.

The Strawberry Festival is one of the largest community events in Windham each year and a fundraising event for the Nesmith Library. Many of our gymnast have attended this event over the years and were happy to be part of this fundraising event.

NEGTC gymnasts that performed were: Courtney Hannes, Olivia Gentile, Katelyn Holland, Alexis Marble, Camden Veino, Emily Joaquin, Isabella Camargo, Sofia Caralaro, Julia Martin, Dominique Gentile, Chloe Catino, Audrey Hill, Madison Hoyt, Charlie Katin, Bella Cebrero, Lillia Szewczyk, Hailey Reiff, Cole Marchaud, Alanna Murphy, Catarina Paton, Skyler Bomba, Jesse Carter, Camille Lamont, Alex Teuber, Kylie Muzzerol, Colby Routhier, Andrew Scvigny, Abby Guilfoil, Val Boucher, Isabel Silviera, Mariska Feenstra, Valentina Vaitones, Carly Ramirez and Cameron Genoten.

Three Nashua teams reach Region I Championships

By winning the recent United States Youth Soccer New Hampshire state championships, three Nashua soccer teams have qualified to compete in the USYS Region I (East) Championships – Nashua World Cup U12 girls, Nashua World Cup U13 girls and the Granite FC Coe U17 girls.

The teams will be among the more than 282 top boys and girls teams from the 15 USYS state associations competing for the regional title July 1-6 at the Barboursville Soccer Complex, Huntington YMCA Kennedy Center and Scott Orthopedics Soccer Complex in Barboursville, W.Va. AAU BASEBALL

Knights sweep Souhegan Valley

The U13 New Hampshire Knights took two games from the Souhegan Valley Saints in AAU baseball action at Daniel Webster College.

The Knights won the first game 11-1 behind the pitching of John Vidal, who allowed only three hits and got the victory on the mound. Brendan Martin had two hits and scored two runs, Matt Lavallee had two hits, while Tom Schmalz scored two runs.

In the second game the Knights won 22-7 as Martin got the win on the mound in relief of Lavallee. The Knights had several players with multiple hits, including Shea Whalen and Mike Demers with four each.

Josh Goulet, Dario Vitagliano and Lavallee had three hits each and Lavallee had five RBIs. Ethan Brodell had two doubles and four RBIs and Martin scored four times.
