U11 Boys

Nashua Blast 10, Bedford 4

Todd Redman scored five goals and assisted on two others, while Brendan Martin added two goals of his own to lead the Nashua Blast U11 to a 10-4 win over Bedford Red.

Troy Bottari, Kyle Fisher (one assist) and Alex Moody chipped in with one goal each, while Joey Paige, Alex Bozek and Tyler DuBien recorded assists in the Blast win.

Goalie Ryan Fitzerald was strong between the pipes, getting help from his defensive group of Doug Barker, DuBien, Colin Manning and Zach Clancy.

Nate Newton, Ian Read, Dylan Terrenzoni, Korey Holt and Owen Mooso also contributed to the Blast victory.

U13 Boys

Nashua C 9, Timberlane C 6

The Nashua Blast U13C won their sixth game of the season against Timberlane, raising their record to 5-0-1. Max Lasala led the Blast offense by netting four goals. Max Serra tallied a pair of goals and an assist. Riley Morse scored two goals and Dakota Lane added one. Cam Rourke and Noah Doherty both contributed assists to help the offense.

Goalies Collin Leary (three saves) and Lane (two saves) combined for the win in net.

Nashua A 4, Windham A 4 (OT)

The Nashua Blast tied Windham 4-4. Leading the way for Nashua was Sean Holmes, who had two goals including the game-tying goal with one second left on the clock. Tom Haller and Andrew DeCarteret each had a goal as Nashua clawed back from being down 3-0. Jacob Dubien, Mitch King, Thomas Claffey and Bryan Connolly all contributed to a strong Nashua defensive effort. In the second half the Nashua defense held Windham scoreless. Goalies Ryan Marvin and Ryan Guidaboni each had critical saves.

U15 Girls

Lakes Region 20, Nashua 16

Kara Upton and Molly Mulcahy scored six and five goals, respectively, but the Nashua Blast still came up short in a 20-16 loss to the Lakes Region.

Victoria Kane scored twice, while Hailey Boulia, Maddison Ledoux and Danielle Upton added one goal each in the loss. Catherine Connolly, Mia Cullerot, Riley Bates and Naomi Aguilar also applied pressure on the opposition, while goalie Victoria Shattuck made eight saves for the Blast.

U11 Girls

Nashua 10, Manchester 5

The Nashua Blast beat Manchester 10-5. Ashley Jolicoeur, Alexia Keeley, Izabella Bolduc and Abigail Rowe played a strong defense, while Kirsten McIntire, Emma Pucillo, Katherine Eastland and Hannah Fortin fought hard to keep Nashua with ball possession. Danielle Upton and Zoe Fillebrown each scored two goals and Madison Owen, Gabrielle Masseur, Arrianna Mohler, Lindsay Holmes, Jenna Tingley and Olivia Koutsos all added one. Goalies Corita Chartier and Fillebrown split time in net.

SOCCER

U13

Nashua Cobras 2, Hanover 0

Ryan Guidaboni and Evan Lowe scored one goal each, the latter helped by the play of Wesley Vanderburgh and Kennedy Dowling, to lead the Nashua Cobras to a 2-0 win over the Hanover Lightning at Main Dunstable Field.

Goalie Matt Hatch and the strong defensive play of David Wang, Garrett Prince and Alex DePenasse held off the Lightning attack to record the shutout.

ICE SKATING

Synchro Stars take third

The Synchro Stars synchronized skating team of Nashua took third place at the Skating Club of Boston Synchronized Skating Classic on March 27.

Competing in the Beginner 1 event, the team competed against clubs throughout New England. First place winner was the Skating Club of Boston, and second place was the Mini Blades of Dedham, Mass.

The U.S. Figure Skating Association recognizes Beginner 1 as teams of 8-16 skaters, most of them under 9 years old.

Synchro Stars represent the Gate City Figure Skating Club of Nashua, and is currently forming teams for the 2010-2011 skating season. Visit www.synchrostars.net for more information.

Nashua Catholic 10, Fairgrounds 8

In the final game of this spring’s Nashua Police Athletic League middle school street hockey action at the Boys and Girls Club outdoor street hockey rink, Officer Joe Brown’s Nashua Catholic Jr. High squad edged the Fairgrounds team, coached by stand-in coach Dr. Anthony Storace, by a score of 10-8. New NCJH goalie Noah Gosselin was tough in the net, turning back a consistent Fairgrounds onslaught by Taylor Robinson (three goals), Bryan Connolly and Christian Reynoso (two goals apiece) and Mike Noke (one goal). NCJH’s Gary Storace accounted for seven of NCJH’s goals, with offensive support from Kevin Tran (two goals) and Phil Tausky (one goal). Fairgrounds goalie Brandon Rand turned back more shots than he let by, but not quite enough to prevent the NCJH win.

MINORS

Brewers 17, Phillies 8

The Phillies jumped out to a 7-0 lead but it wasn’t enough to hold off the power hitting Brewers. Spencer Desrosiers did a great job catching and had three RBIs and Josh Morin blasted a triple to right field in the fourth inning.

For the Brewers, Courtney Olsen pitched four innings striking out nine and only giving up one hit, one walk and one run. Cam Gillespie, Alonso Linton, Mateo Faria, Kellen Sheehan and Courtney Olsen combined for eight hits. Mike Fletcher and Nathan Post made nice defensive plays.

Brewers 8, Giants 0

Kellen Sheehan pitched four innings with 11 strikeouts, two walks and only three hits. Courtney Olsen pitched the fifth and sixth striking out four. Defense was highlighted by a throw from left-fielder Dan Girouard to Cam Gillespie at third for an out. The offense was led by Gillespie, who had two RBIs.

Padres 8, Giants 3

Padre’s pitchers Damon Glastetter and Adam Fenalson combined for 13 strikeouts. Offensively the Padres were led by Matt Palazzo, Damon Glastetter and JJ Ducharme.

The Giants were led by Spencer Dozios, who pitched three solid innings (eight strikeouts) and had an RBI double and scored two of the three Giants runs. Angelo Soto pitched two solid innings striking out four. Soto also had an RBI double. Strong defensive performances were turned in by Tiara Rowlett and Sean Scully.

Padres 9, Phillies 1

Damon Glastetter and Adam Fenalson combined for 15 strikeouts on the hill to lead the Padres past the Phillies.

The Padres offense was led by Glastetter and Justin Cardullo. The Phillies’ Spencer Desrosiers threw his best game of the season, striking out eight and allowing only two runs on one hit in 31?3 innings. Bryson Bagley also had a great day on the mound in a 11?3 innings of relief giving up no runs and no hits while striking out four. Josh Morin worked hard behind the plate for six innings to anchor the defense and keep this game close with some great hustle against the Padres runners. At the plate, Zachory Almeida singled to drive in the lone Phillies run.

Rays 9, Mariners 8

Tyler Bellemare pitched three solid innings keeping the Mariners to two runs. Gabe Perrault went 3 for 4 with an inside-the-park home run and a key single in the bottom of the fifth. Hunter Routhier was 3 for 4 with the game winning hit, Evan Baldassaro was 2 for 2 with a walk and Brianna Rittenberg scored the winning run in the bottom of the fifth. Perrault was solid behind the plate in his first time catching.

Phillies 18, Mariners 8

The Phillies outlasted the Mariners and came back to win 18-12 with a big rally in the sixth inning. The relief pitching saved the day as Adam Gosselin (12?3 innings, five strikeouts) and Brad Leveille (21?3 innings, three strikeouts, one run) came in and shut down the Mariners. At the plate, Josh Morin had two hits and two RBIs while Spencer Desrosiers, Zachory Almeida and Leveille all reached safely on hits.

Rays 13, White Sox 1

For the Rays Noah Gonzales and Chris Markunas pitched two innings each in their first time on the mound this season holding the White Sox to one run. The defense was highlighted by a relay from Austin Dunn to Gabe Perrault to Hunter Routhier at third base for an out. Perrault went 2 for 2 with two walks and four runs scored. Evan Baldassaro went 3 for 4 with two doubles and an inside-the-park home run. Aiden Van Battenberg, Routhier, Dunn and Markunas each had hits.

MAJORS

Yankees 6, A’s 4

Connor Baldassaro threw 88 pitches for a complete game. Travis Martin, Marcus Clough, Colby Routhier and Stephen Lambert came through with timely, run-scoring hits.

Cardinals 2, Orioles 1

This was a great pitching duel between Mike Kernan and JJ Dunn. Kernan had 16 strikeouts in 51?3 innings, giving up two hits, one walk and one run. On the offense side it was Kernan again showing the power hitting a two-run home run late in the game to take the lead. Evan Patterson came into the game with one out in the bottom of the sixth inning and saved the game with a ground out and strike out with a runner at third base.

Red Sox 8, Cardinals 6

Mike Kernan came into the game as a reliever in the top of the third inning with two outs and did not allow a run the rest of the way, striking out nine, but the Cardinals came up short in an 8-6 loss to the Red Sox.

Kernan hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth to put the Cardinals within two runs, but that’s as close as they would get. With two men on and two outs, Red Sox outfielder Spencer Morse put a stop to the rally with a nice over the shoulder catch to end the game.

Twins 13, Orioles 12

Jeffrey Almonte, Calvin Sawtelle and Brendan Auriana all pitched well for the Twins, while the offense showed some life in a six-run, fifth-inning rally to win 13-12. Auriana started the inning off with a hit, followed by big hits by Pete Dysczyk, Kyle Dexter and Brian Stiles.

For the Orioles, Tyler Plourde pitched well in defeat, striking out eight and allowing just three hits in 31?3 innings of work. He left the game with a 12-7 lead. Brett Leblanc (3 for 4, two singles, triple, RBI, three runs scored), Alex Christie (3 for 4, two singles, double), J.J. Dunn (2 for 3, double, triple, two RBIs, two runs scored) and Plourde (two hits, walk, run scored).

Orioles 9, Red Sox 4

Andrew Ball struck out 11, walked five and allowed four runs on three hits over four innings of work for the Orioles. In the home half of the fourth, the Orioles took the lead by scoring five runs on some timely hitting from Tyler Plourde (2 for 3, double, single, two RBIs, two runs scored) and J.J. Dunn. Alex Christie (2 for 2, two doubles, two RBIs, two runs scored) also had a good day at the plate for the O’s. Kian Dunn closed the game on just 17 pitches with one strikeout.

Yankees 5, Twins 1

Peter Dysczyk threw a gem for the Twins keeping it a one-run game into the fifth. The Yankees struggled to get men on base, but were able to push a few across the plate in the fifth to secure the win. Joe Routhier threw the limit over 41?3 innings and Marcus Clough finished the game.

SOUTH MAJORS

Orioles 7, Rockies 5

Keenan Dwyer (home run) and Chad Hult (double) had big offensive days for the Orioles. Trevor Hult and Cam Stockman pitched well for the Orioles. The Rockies’ Nick Koch went 2 for 3, with a three-run home run. Ben Seegel also had a hit and scored a pair of runs, while Matt Lawyer also contributed to the offense.

A’s 12, Phillies 4

Anthony Martin led the A’s to victory with a complete game (eight strikeouts, zero walks). Max Coffin had a solid outing for the Phillies, pitching well through the fourth before the A’s took control of the game. Jonathan Zankerkia walked and stole second and third, then was singled home on a clutch hit by Ryan North to tie the game. Tyler North walked, then Chad Olivieri (2 for 3, double, three RBIs) had a key two-run single to give the A’s the lead. In the sixth the A’s came back with seven runs, highlighted by a base-clearing three-run double by Patrick McDonnell. A’s speedster Brian Toupin had two hits, a walk and six stolen bases.

Giants 6, Phillies 5

The Giants and Phillies played an exciting game and battled to the end. The Giants were led offensively by Ryan Penkala (2 for 2, two RBIs) and Tommy Lessard (2 for 2). The team also received hits from Owen Shea, Nick Quadros, Riley Bourque and Charlie Deichmann. On the mound, Jason Fox, CJ Mellen and Mike Levasseur combined for 10 strikeouts. The Phillies received solid games offensively from Steve D’Onfro, Jack Leatherman and Gage Donaghue. Christopher Fisher and Leatherman combined for eight strikeouts.

Royals 14, Orioles 8

The Royals jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first on hits from Alex Amigo and Noah Telerski. In the fourth, the Royals added four more with hits from Cam Novotny, Zach Finklestein, Matt Savoia, Patrick Bue and a double from Ryan ZZ to go up 12-0. The O’s responded in the fourth with hits from Nick Perkins and Keenan Dwyer. In the top of the fifth the Royals finished their scoring on a home run from Owen Amigo (two hits) and a double from Steve Signorello. In the O’s half of the inning they put up four more runs on hits from Christian Lowell (double), Chad Hult and Kyle Capone (two hits).

Giants 10, Phillies 9

The Phillies jumped out to an early 5-0 lead with aggressive base running and a timely hit from Steve D’Onfro. The Phillies offense was active all game and had big days from Zach Cunningham (2 for 4), Noah Toland (2 for 3), Chris Fisher (three walks) and Max Coffin (three walks). The Phillies also received solid pitching from Cunningham, Coffin and Jacob Derusha. The Giants were led at the plate from Owen Shea (3 for 4), including the game-winning hit in the bottom of the sixth. The Giants also received hits from Brian Barrows, Jason Fox, Ryan Penkala and Jacob Wilcox. On the mound, CJ Mellen, Mike Levasseur and Penkala combined for 10 strikeouts.

NORTHWEST MAJORS

Braves 14, North Red Sox 9

Alley Fortin led the way reaching base four times and scoring three times, while also playing another solid defensive game in center field. Cameron Braunius smashed a double in the bottom of the second, driving in two to take the lead for the Braves.

Royals 12, West Orioles 3

The Orioles jumped on top 1-0 until the Royals exploded for four runs in the third and never looked back. The Royals were led by Jack Barnes and Alex Richard both picking up two hits, including both with doubles. Connor Mullaly, Andrew Pena, Cam Bennett, Lukas Atwood all added singles. Tyler Watkins and Brandom Ricom had hits for the birds.

Royals 12, West D’backs 2

The Royals came to play, collecting 14 hits and 12 runs as a team. Jack Barnes (two hits, double), Michael Muchemore (two hits, three RBIs), Connor Mullaly (two hits), Ryan Lawes (double) and Patrick Carr (two RBIs) paced the offense. Alex Richard (two hits), Lukas Atwood (two hits) and Collin Karabatsos (RBI) also added offense to end the game in four innings. Connor Mullaly and Patrick Carr combined to hold the Diamondbacks to one hit in the win.

West Cubs 4, Braves 2

Brett Delaney threw a complete-game gem for the Braves in defeat. Nolan Hilger scored a run for the Braves, who tied the game at 2-2 before the West Cubs pulled out the win with two in the bottom of the fifth.

West Braves 7, Braves 2

Jacob Burbank pitched a gem for the West Braves, overpowering the Northwest Braves by allowing only two hits and striking out 12. The West Braves dominated offensively as well with 15 hits. Curt Delaney had the only two hits for the Braves.

NASHUA NORTHWEST AAA

Orioles 12, White Sox 9

Tyler Moraros and Trey Legraw pitched well in the Orioles win. Chris Paluzzi, Joe Allen, and Timmy Roscoe had stand out days at the plate.

Indians 4, Braves 3

Trevor Kelly, Joe Berman and William Rommell led the way on the mound for the Braves. Colton Welch, Eric Poublon and Peter Bowe led the efforts for the Indians, who jumped out to the early lead with three runs in the bottom of the first with Welch, Austin Ouellette and Jack Hyland scoring runs and Cameron Schuyler ripping the ball.

Orioles 12, Indians 8

Nate Nugent pitched a complete-game for the win. Jacob Harp played a solid game behind the plate. Harp threw out a runner on a steal attempt at second, and had three put outs at the plate on runners trying to score on a passed ball. Kushal Shah continued were he left off, blasting two triples. Peter Bowe added two hits for the Indians.
